Bloomberg:GameStop Corp. (GME), the video-game retailer, sold more than 1 million copies of “Call of Duty: Black Ops II” yesterday, positioning the new title from Activision Blizzard Inc. (ATVI) to break sales records.
Following the Wii U and 3DS servers being taken offline, Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Ghosts are officially dead.
Call of Duty players are jumping into Black Ops 2 for the final time before its Wii U servers go offline for good.
GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 leap up due to summer sales
Wow, good games never get old I guess.
CoD will always be a beast of a franchise, and how awesome is it that you can just boot it up or pop it into your Xbox and play, MS BC is really a neat feature.
I'm not shocked COD is loved by millions
It's really not a bad game, but it has some major spawning issues.
However, from looking at the low number of online players logged in, it's clear Black Ops 2 is well behind the last 3 Call of Duty games as far as sales go early on.
When you go from 2 million players logged in on Black ops 1 opening night to 650,000 with Black ops 2, it's a clear indication the franchise is falling or people are just not that into Black ops 2.
This was black ops total numbers of players logged in at like 3am the night of the launch

It is really a shame that people continue to support Activision this way. The fact that the game is plagued by cheaters, glitches etc and that Activision continues to use an age old engine just shows they don't care about the gamer. While I'm completely understand of a business wanting to make money, there is also a point where they need to have some respect for the consumer. Then again, when your consumer clearly proves they don't care if they are disrespected then why care about them.
Its just unfortunate that other games, of much better quality, don't get the same reception that CoD continually gets.
It sold way more than that. The 1 million is only for the midnight launch.
