Rockstar boss drops massive GTA 5 story spoiler

The New York Times has published a rather interesting interview with Dan Houser in which, among other things, the Rockstar co-founder manages to heavily spoil the plot of Grand Theft Auto 5.

They should have saved this as a surprise for the player... now Im going to expect it to happen.

SPOILERS

When It happened in AC3 and Heavy Rain, I went HOLY SH*T WTF!

But now I'm going to expect this to happen now :(, I like when my games go SGT Doakes on me

To be fair I think they would have tailored the story around the fact you know. It would be stupid to play a character and it turns out to be the bad guy without at least hinting (never played Heavy Rain so can't comment on that). In AC3 you do not play as the main antagonist and there is a small twist at the very beginning of the game (funnily enough bigger than the end twists). GTA stories tend to be quite long. To keep you in the dark about being the bad guy for that long (just for a twist) just wouldn't work.

Nimblest-Assassin4176d ago (Edited 4176d ago )

Huh... didn't think of it like that... kind of like a who dun it idea?

Whatever... really hyped for wednesday when the trailer drops.

I feel like Im going to like the father character and the upcoming hustler... but the pshyco war vet im not sure

They can either make him annoying pshyco like Tuco from Breaking Bad, or well done pshyco like Anton in no country for old men

Deku-Johnny4176d ago

It was pretty much obvious Haytham was going to be a bad guy. He's British. It's almost impossible for something set in American to have British people that aren't bad guys.

Nimblest-Assassin4176d ago (Edited 4176d ago )

Really... we are doing this here? Everyone but the natives were british. It was a civil war, in which a bunch of british people wanted to leave the rule of britian.

Also... thats incorrect... most of the times now, Russians or Arabs are bad guys.

Also... how is something set in American?

And no it wasn't obvious.. I mean his student was Charles Lee, who was a big American General

rpd1234176d ago

There were plenty of British people who weren't the bad guys and plenty of "Americans" who were. Did you even play the game? Washington gave the order to burn Connor's village to the ground, Haytham was trying to win independence as well, he just approached it differently.

Deku-Johnny4176d ago

You obviously missed the point in my post. I meant Things set in America* always put British people as bad guys, failing that they cast a British guy to play a bad guy.

showtimefolks4176d ago

You know how you can avoid this by not reading this or any other GTA related articles. I want to go into GTA 5 with out spoilers.

So I will watch the trailers but that's it

slapedurmomsace4175d ago

@ nim

damn man, thanks for writing Spoilers in the middle of your comment, with absolutely no let on that you are gonna ruin AC3 for anyone who hasn't finished..i.e. me.

Nimblest-Assassin4175d ago

I already figured that out so its not a big surprise. Anyone could have figured that out with the three playable characters.

josephayal4176d ago

Grand Theft Auto V storyline promises to be the most exciting one yet! just like GTA4

torchic4176d ago

well I play GTA just to fudge shit up. I only play story to unlock stuff to fudge shit up with, so spoilers, whatever

danieldeath4176d ago

I am not going to read this article ...

iChii4176d ago

One of the three main characters is the antagonist. <- make sure you don't read that part! You can thank me later..

Cost of realistic looking movement.

Rockstar need to learn that 12 years of work and 5000 employees doesn’t account for one persons opinion on the internet…

Profchaos36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

Oh and hundreds of millions of dollars in revanue to boot.

Lots of complaints about gta ever since the hd era started and yet it's bugger than its ever been with gta vi up to 180 million trailer views alone. The next game is shaping it be be another genre defining game

MetalGearsofWar36d ago

They already learned they dont have to actually make a great game

sagapo36d ago

The controls of RDR2 felt a but cluncky indeed, but it’s not as bad as some make it out to be. At no point did I get the feeling my experience with the game was held back or ruined by the controls.
But it can never hurt to optimize them a bit, sure.

Zhipp36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

I did accidentally beat someone to death a couple times. An unfortunate mistake but besides that I didn't have any problems with the controlls

jznrpg36d ago

Red Dead Redemption felt clunky at first but I got used to it fairly quick. I thought 2 was easier to control but it could be my experience with the first game helped me out. Great games

Profchaos36d ago

I wouldn't call Rockstar games characters clunky instead they feel like they move with Weight they are not twitch controls press x to instantly snap onto cover the characters instead move like a actor would ducking behind cover they are exposed while they get there.
