Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Review | Golden4games

The single-player campaign will feature two connected storylines, one set in the 1970s through 1980s and the other in 2025. The protagonist of Black Ops, Alex Mason returns as the protagonist in the Cold War section, where he will be fighting in proxy wars for the United States in the Cold War.

Yup many EA fanboys will be miserable trolls as BO2 starts pulling in 9s +.

kingmushroom4172d ago

Troll tears! Get them while they're fresh! Lol

3GenGames4172d ago

EA fanboys? Just because people speak the truth makes them automatic game AND company fanboys?

Puhleasssseeee.

Ninjamonkey824172d ago

Well as long as your not comparing this to bf3 on pc ;).

RSPproductionz4172d ago

I love the way they added in a secret "snake" feature. They knew about this "glitch" on Black Ops but chose to leave it in for the lols.

Treyarc be trolling!

Awesome_Gamer4172d ago

EA/Battlefield Fanoys?
I hate CoD, Battlefield and MoH, i hate generic multiplayer-based military shooters, all of them.

xX-StolenSoul-Xx4172d ago (Edited 4172d ago )

I don't take allegiance to any game company but I know when I see crap. Not even fresh crap, dried up waiting to turn to dust.

Tapewurm4171d ago

@xJumpManx .. PS3/Vita owner here....was out at midnight launch with several of my PS3 ONLY having friends and we all love the new CoD.....I am actually very impressed with the Vita version as well.....played it's multiplayer and other modes last night and it is a pleasant surprise. It will probably get blasted for some reason or another by jaded reviewers, but I really enjoyed the 4 or so hours I put in on it last night before I crashed.

SonyPS3604171d ago (Edited 4171d ago )

Gamespot gave it an 8, but hurray for it getting a 9 from...who?

Note: 8 isn't a bad score, I just think your knee jerk reaction warranted it pointing out.

I wish people would just accept it's the same thing again with a new coat of paint.

Still, Activision has your money again and we all lose when the cost of games goes up. I refuse to pay for COD until they stop being so greedy, which will never happen because you guys will pay for anything that they put out every year.

Guess this negativity makes me an automatic fanboy of some rival company, right?

Nope. EA can suck a fat one as well, but that's irrelevant here and you're dumb if you bring them up.

R6ex4171d ago

Better save your money for Crysis 3!

I'm skipping BO2.

Its funny because apparently the story for black ops 2 is being done by David S Goyer... who also did Dark knight rises

4172d ago
Nimblest-Assassin4172d ago

@PtRoLLFacE

I love this review... especially the story section of it

cyclonus0074172d ago

He co-wrote Batman Begins, and got co-story credit on Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises. He also wrote the Blade Trilogy (even directed the last one so make of that what you will) and did the story for the first Black Ops which was...well...it exists I'll give him that. I'm sure the papers he turned in for that game felt, looked, and were the proper length that a script is supposed to be.

SPAM-FRITTER-1234172d ago

Pre-Loaded and waiting on midnight for game to unlock.

excited.

lilbrat234172d ago

I give the game a 7, way too many issues and once again spawning is ridiculous.

MrAnderson4172d ago

I wish reviewers would make it clear if they're reviewing the campaign or the multiplayer. I don't think i've played a COD campaign since cod 4, i'll at least check out BO2's campaign since it looks like some works actually gone into it for once, but i'm most deffinantly interested in the multiplayer over campaign...

admiralvic4172d ago

any reviewer that focuses on the multiplayer (unless it only has MP) isn't someone you should trust.

The MP is vastly different based off the people you play with, what type of guns are "overpowered", how others play and other such things. It's hardly a fixed experience like the campaign would be, plus it will always be changing. As people level they will unlock different abilities, so they may or may not be cheaper. Broken weapons will be discovered. Online servers might lag, etc.

SonyPS3604171d ago

It's funny that each game has a completely new campaign, but people are only paying for a slightly re-hashed multiplayer.

I hope you don't like any of the maps from previous games, because they'll expect you to pay for them again.

Blues Cowboy4172d ago (Edited 4172d ago )

Sigh, was excited until I realised it was Golden4Games. This site is one of the least legit in the business - seriously, half of that review literally makes no sense, and it's not all even in the same language (same as the Resi and MoH Warfighter reviews, which all came out as 'first' reviews).

Think I might hold off for some more reviews.

nutcrackr4172d ago

Pretty much this, don't click on the link people

guitarded774172d ago

I still have it pre-ordered, and don't really care about reviews, but you're right. This is one of the poorest written reviews I've ever seen. I can certainly understand English not being their first language, but the number of grammar errors in the first paragraph alone make it akin to deciphering a cryptoquiz in the Sunday paper. If that wasn't bad enough, the criteria their rating system takes into account is crazy weird... I mean AI as a section unto itself? AI is important, but it can fall under programming. And what the hell is "game age" and why does it get a 9.5 for this mysterious category? I hope the game is great and all, but this review is not good at all.

MattS4172d ago

And apparently English is the only language that exists.

The reason it makes no sense, kiddo, is because the translator is bad: http://golden4games.com/

I'm sure it makes perfect sense in the language the review was actually written in.

In other news Famitsu is a terrible magazine because it uses funny little pictures rather than English letters.

MattS4172d ago

Go and check the website, and if the URL has /en in it, remove those characters.

The actual website is in Arabic or Farsi. They clearly have a (very badly) working internal translator for English-speaking markets. That's why Google Translate thinks golden4games.com/en is an English website.

In fact, the golden4games.com without the /en appears to be Arabic, according to Google Translate.

ExCest4172d ago

@MattS

I didn't realize a Japanese magazine wasn't in English.

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 4172d ago
MattS4172d ago

It's a translation from either Arabic or Farsi. That's why it makes little sense. Golden4Games is clearly not an English-speaking website.

Which makes the review next to useless for western gamers, yes, I agree. But since when the fuck does a website have to be in English to be "legit?" Unless you can read Farsi or Arabic you have absolutely no idea whether those reviews are quality or not.

Hey boys the earth is the centre of the universe too!.

CoLD FiRE4172d ago

I can confirm that Golden4Games is indeed in Arabic and I can also confirm that it's a crappy website! Don't click on the link, I read some of the reviews and most of the writing is recycled.

MattS4172d ago

@CoLD FiRE - you can read Arabic? Neat. Thanks for clarifying. I'm content to take your word for it.

Hasanhastam4172d ago (Edited 4172d ago )

Im playing leaked game and it is awesome one new thing that treyarch added is offline multiplayer with bots that is great!

MetalProxy4172d ago

offline MP bots? sweet. I have a good friend that will enjoy that, thanks!

animegamingnerd4172d ago (Edited 4172d ago )

actually that is in black ops 1 to

LOGICWINS4172d ago

Offline multiplayer? Thats just fantastic for me. I'm mainly a single player gamer, but I like the multiplayer feel from time to time. Bots give me the ability to have that competitve experience without me worrying about getting my ass kicked by people with no lives.

GuyThatPlaysGames4172d ago

Not trolling or anything. But what's the difference between spending many hours on campaign as apposed to spending many hours on multiplayer, but somehow the multiplayer gamers have "no lives" as you say?? How is that when you spend hours playing the game anyways no matter if it's campaign or multiplayer?? Please clear that up for me.

LOGICWINS4172d ago (Edited 4172d ago )

"But what's the difference between spending many hours on campaign as apposed to spending many hours on multiplayer, but somehow the multiplayer gamers have "no lives" as you say??"

I'll happily explain the difference.

Multiplayer gamers with no lives affect MY online gaming experience because some of these people have no school/work, thus giving them more time to learn each and every facet of the game. Chances are that these people will cream me(and they deserve to cream me because they put in more time with the game), which will lead to my frustration.

Single player gamers with no lives DON'T affect my gaming experience(single or multi) AT ALL.

Thats the difference.

Scrupuless4172d ago

So in other words you are a very poor sport who can't handle losing with dignity and would rather just avoid any difficult situation by avoidance as opposed to putting a little effort in. I mean the only reason cod is popular or any good for that matter is the multiplayer, the single player for most cods whilst fun pales in comparison to the depth and quality of it's multiplayer.

LOGICWINS4172d ago (Edited 4172d ago )

"So in other words you are a very poor sport who can't handle losing with dignity and would rather just avoid any difficult situation by avoidance as opposed to putting a little effort in."

LOL, if I spend $60 on a game, I can play it however the hell I want. Why would I put myself in a difficult situation if I don't have to do so?

A poor sport is a person who believes that he/she should always be the victor. Not my situation. I'm simply a gamer that knows what he likes, and for the most part, multiplayer isn't what I like because the amount of fun I have is determined by OTHER people. I have more fun playing single player because the only person that determines how much fun I have is myself.

Multiplayer console gaming is generally unbalanced. Much of the time you have one team of experienced players(players with XXxxx in their name who band together like a cult) vs. noobs who just got the game the previous day.

Either way, the result is less than satisfactory. The experienced players don't have fun because they got an easy win and the newcomers get frustrated and simply quit. This is why I'm done with competitive online gaming.

At times I've been so good at a game(Uncharted 3, Killzone 2) that players have told me that I'm lagging. Other times, I've been slaughtered online(COD4, Counter Strike).

I don't want to be on EITHER side of the equation anymore.

SAE4172d ago

basically you are sucks at multiplayer games and it's too difficult for you to understand it's gameplay and the purpose it made for , that's why you hate it but that's not a reason to say others don't have a life just because they enjoy playing in mp ..

i love single player games but call of duty SP is just boring with the story it have and it's gameplay, i play call of duty for it's multiplayer because it need skills , it's fun , im competing with others ..etc

multiplayer teached me how to play single player better then befor , befor i cant even complete one game , now i can complete the game in the first day i buy it , see the effect ?.. sp for story , mp for competing ..

LOGICWINS4172d ago

^^Not everyone who plays multiplayer has "no life". Clearly I'm only speaking about a select few players.

SAE4172d ago (Edited 4172d ago )

sorry , i understood you wrong , i kind of agree with you actually,

edit : when i see someone good in the match i stay and try to beat him , that's a way to learn , i get excited when im dealing with that situations :) ..

that's why i don't completely agree with you ...

that was in black ops 1, and has been confirmed for a long ass time for #2, don't really believe you're played a "leaked" version, early delivery, perhaps.

black ops 1 also had that but with an tile update

DOOMZ4172d ago

Wonder how long the single player campaign is?!?

bubblebeam4172d ago

There is a basic principle to that.

Whatever they say the length is minus 50%. (12 hours becomes 8- Gears 3).

Or in Darksiders 2's case, divided by 2. (50 hours becomes 20-25).

I suppose developers aren't really lying to you, they just make a eally bad person play the campaign so that it artificially 'increases' the length.

ALLWRONG4172d ago

Probably 4-6 hours like most CoD games.

Xbox $70 billion bet paid out

fr0sty245d ago

Guess that's what happens when there's no good new games to play...

4Sh0w245d ago (Edited 245d ago )

Well regardless of exclusives, or whatever else there is to play on Xbox or ps, CoD has has still been the top selling game on ps platform since forever also.....so no surprise that the most popular game franchise on any console could easily have a revival due to servers coming back online...this is just credit to xbox backwards compatibility & thats good thing for Xbox gamers.

wiz7191245d ago

@Frosty orrrr maybe it’s a breath of fresh air to be able to go back to the peak of the series .. and it’s beem great lol

mkis007245d ago

It's going to take 10 years for xbox to generate that much profit...

Rhythmattic244d ago

Why worry when they have OS, Server and Background Data in their hands...
Gaming is just the small piece, at the top left in a few K piece jigsaw.

EasilyTheBest244d ago

If you buy a house with cash for 1 million dollars you still own the house. Microsoft don't need to make the money back.

Rhythmattic242d ago

But its not money back, its about how it goes missing.

jznrpg245d ago

Shooters is what Xbox people play most of the time and that’s about it by the numbers and sales of games.

shinoff2183245d ago

Atkeast older gamers nostalgia is good. Jeez.

Jin_Sakai245d ago

Mostly because the new CoD games are garbage. The old games were much better.

Rutaprkl244d ago

Agree 100%. Cod 4, WaW, Black ops 1 & 2, those were the days.

Rhythmattic244d ago

For MP, Unreal tournament , QIII Arena (loved the UT mod) FTW!

RaidenBlack244d ago

Unreal Tournament and Quake III were simply amazing ... CoD's and CoD-likes' rise killed the arena shooter popularity ...
Unreal Tournament 2004 is my favorite in the series.
Didn't enjoy Unreal Tournament III, Quake Champions that much.
Too bad Epic cancelled Unreal Tournament 2014 becoz of Fortnite

Rhythmattic244d ago (Edited 244d ago )

I got hooked on the QIII Urban Terror mod (and my work colleagues I introduced them to)... LAN Sessions at the closing of the doors at work, into the night , sinking beers and eating pizza..... Good times.

thesoftware730245d ago

Wow, good games never get old I guess.

CoD will always be a beast of a franchise, and how awesome is it that you can just boot it up or pop it into your Xbox and play, MS BC is really a neat feature.

CrimsonWing69245d ago

Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.

1Victor244d ago

@crimson:” Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.”
I agree it’s worthy at the start of the generation when there’s few new generation games but halfway through the generation it’s not a feature.
Now it’s good that this game is finding a renewed life for its fan but it shows a mayor flaw in new games release when a close decade old game is toppling the charts

CrimsonWing69244d ago

I don't know if I understand what you mean. It's a feature regardless of the time into the generation.

Let's take Armored Core 6 for example. Let's say I'm interested in checking out the previous Armored Core games, sure would be nice if I could play them on my current-gen console.

We're about 3 years into current-gen and old games are hitting in the top 5 for sales charts in the month.

I do get where you're coming from with older games possibly being better than the newer games, but the feature stays the feature. I can only speak for myself, but when there's a lull in game releases or nothing great is out, I like to go back to old titles. It's just nice to not have to have a bunch of consoles out to do so.

I think moving forward it'll be less and less of an issue as like with the PS5 you can access most all of the PS4 games, but I like going back to PS1 and PS2. Would be awesome to kind of make backwards compatibility a prioritized feature moving forward. Hell, Sony was the first to implement it.
