5 Reasons the Wii U Will Succeed

GI - The Wii U launches on Nov. 18 in the States with launches in Europe and Japan later on Nov. 30. Plenty of people have criticized the system for a multitude of reasons, even on Gaming Illustrated–we are a site divided on the Wii U. The question with the first “Next-Gen” console is how it will do when Nintendo releases it to the public. Can Nintendo expect to fall on its face with this launch or can it have an amazing launch with systems selling out this Holiday season? Will the Wii U be a huge success and have the long-term staying power of the Wii?

It's gonna be just like when they came out with the NES.... Goodtimes...

It will succeed because it's Nintendo. Even if it isn't the most pimped-out or successful console of the next generation, many people (like myself) will buy it for Nintendo's exclusives.

Nintendo has a large user-base of dedicated fans. The real question is, can Nintendo attract back the customers who became frustrated with the Wii's lack of "core" games and HD support? Hopefully they can.

Your right. People point to Dreamcast but Sega was never as big as Nintendo were. Sega fanboys just like to pretend like they were.

Nintendo have always, and will always have WAY more fanboys then Sega had.

Most sega fans love Nintendo too. I'm surprised Sega never got bought out by Nintendo? But back to the subject, only a complete noob would think that Nintendo isn't gonna come out spankin the competition.

I don't see any reason why it can't succeed. It seems to have a much stronger release line-up than the Wii did.

Looking Ahead: The Lingering Questions About the Next Mario Kart

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "10 years. It’s been almost 10 years since the last mainline release in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart 8 came out for the Wii U in 2014 and became the best-selling game for the system by a sizeable margin, and later pulled the same magic trick on the Nintendo Switch under the stage name Deluxe. All in all, it's sold nearly 70 million copies over the last decade and is still selling like hot cakes to this day, so it’s no wonder Nintendo has been in no rush to replace it. However, with rumors of a new system being just around the corner, and reports a few years back that a new Mario Kart is indeed under way, it seems the era of 8 might very well be drawing to a close. It’s an exciting prospect to be sure, but after two Nintendo systems with Mario Kart 8 at their heart, a lot of questions remain about how Nintendo will choose to follow it up."

I hope they just keep building on Mario Kart 8; Add a track-creation tool, and probably open it up to more Nintendo IPs with new tracks and characters, so Metroid, Punch Out, Starfox, Animal Crossing, etc etc.
