The default should probably be off, as most things like this would be. With a pop-up during initial setup explaining the feature and asking if you want to utilize it.

i like this option, I would put it for 4hours. I tend to nap for a few with the tv on so this is great. Left my 360 once for 40 hours...

was sick... 360 is in my office so i sorta forgot it on when i went to the bedroom.I have it on top of this type of anti fatigue mat to absorb the noise vibration. When you go a pee during the night you can't even hear it. Weird how that happen...

good i love the feature i always wake up in the middle of the night with the system menu music going of because my girlfriend never shuts things down before she gos to bed

and they leave everything out on the table ( for me to put away) so they can just slip into bed.

the only thing worse is when you fall asleep watching a DVD and the menu music just keeps looping but your to tired to get up and turn it off and it gets in your head to the point when you finally turn it off you can still hear it playing.

Consoles need the sleep feature like Vita.

Vita/handheld device are like laptops.

Power managements should be treated as they are always connected or running on batteries(save power) or don't care always connected/plug.

I can see why they don't have the same features.

I agree and know why they have different features... but imagine jumping right back into a game (literally, 2 seconds of waiting). It would change the industry.

Yeah but it is not as important... On Vita if you are playing on the go you might have to stop to get off the train the turn it back on at the coffee shop then stop again when you friend shows up. With portable gaming a lot more things cause you to pause a game and a simple pause button would waste to much battery.

I Would Love to Come Home To my PS4 and just keep Playing GTA 6 right were i left off... If it were like that id probrably pass all my games like in 2 sittings, sometimes the Company Logo, the Auto Save Message, the Siezure Warning, The Trying To Connect To Online Game Network, The Built in Game intro, The Press Start Screen, The Continue Load Screen ,The Loading Screen kill the thought of wanting to play

It should be off by default but it is a good feature. Hopefully it will be advanced on by having it shut off automatically after you downloaded something from the store.

I don't see what the problem is. I have this feature activated on my PS3 and if I didn't already save my progress regularly, the Auto Save feature on almost all these games, wouldn't spell such a disaster that IGN paints here.

Seriously, I have kids, but I've always practiced the mantra of SASO - "Save And Save Often".

i can understand how some people can leave a game in a "paused" state for like 15-30 minutes, saving the game before doing so. but leaving the console for 90 minutes without saving? that'd be dumb and/or careless.

anyway, it's act'ly a good feature. i'd probably set leave it to its default of 60 minutes, or even less. anyway, most often i only leave a game in paused state after saving, so doesn't affect me. if i do forget to save, then it's my fault, and consequence simply dictates i'll have to re-do the parts since the last save.

My fat PS3 has an auto shut off too. There's nothing scary about that. Lots of devices use an auto-off feature so it boggles the mind that a grown man didn't take that into account before taking a 1hr lunch break or whatever.

I find it pathetic that IGN was surprised by this feature for two reasons. A.) It is a feature on almost every device and B.) How do you NOT go through every little setting when you first get a device? There is no better way to get to know your new toy than checking every little setting first and adjusting them to your tastes.

It's a good feature, but I am glad that IGN has warned us- Most people won't take the time to read the Manual (until something goes weird).

Thats nothing to bitch about.. i go thru all my settings n features before even beginning a game for my new hardware so its really their fault they lost that data by not adjusting the time or turning that feature off..

The only problem with this feature is Nintendo needs to make sure everyone is aware of it. All in all it sounds like a good addition in today's eco-aware society.

If it was 30 minutes, than it would be an issue, since I can be playing a game and I have to use the bathroom but stay longer than expected or eat lunch longer than expected.
