THQ shares drop by almost 50% amid bankruptcy fears

VG247:THQ posted its financial report last night, suggesting that all was not well at the Californian publisher. Aside from stating losses of $21 million, the company also announced delays of Company of Heroes 2, Metro: Last Light and South Park. The move has made investors nervous.

Will get worse for THQ and other like dev studios. It is sad, but I feel a great wave of economic ruin coming to wash away many game studios for next gen.

It is sad, I like a lot of THQ games. It will be a sad day for gaming when only EA & Activision remain :(

Um. Don't forget Zenimax (Bethesda) and Take-Two (Rockstar, 2K). But yeah, especially if you only play games on Sony's and/or Microsoft's consoles. That's 4 Western publishers. Couple that with 2 Japanese publishers, Capcom and Square-Enix, and that's the next-gen scene in a nutshell.

THQ killed themselves by spending funds on that drawing crap....THQ went spending crazy on licensed movie/cartoon software like some alcoholic at the bar..... THQ should have just created their own quality original software.....

Actually it was the UDraw thing for the HD consoles that began their downfall. After its success on the Wii, they thought they could duplicate that on the HD consoles. But the crowd didn't buy it. And them recently banking on Darksiders 2 to be a megahit just might have been the final nail in the coffin. It just didn't have that kind of appeal to pull it off.

Should make it interesting if they do go into administration as i can see microsoft coming in to buy them and making some of the big ips there own.

I think the last thq game i bought was homefront and not really played any of there games since the n64 days.

I hope they get saved as i dont like to see any developers go bust as we have had to many this gen as it is.

Honestly i think ms have enough first party now with 20 studios.. But somebody will pick up voalition and relic Im sure and maybe the witcher devs could buy the metro devs due to their geography.

they have made some really lackluster games as of late with a couple being the exception so well in this conservative consumer climate if you dont sell quality, a brand or market your game to enough idiots you go under.

I don't think it will. Darksiders 2 sold bad for them and the CEO doesn't even think Darksiders is a good franchise anyways.
