I could have sworn i heard this news after her finished his web series. If I could change anything so far it would be the lady playing Sonya. No offense to that lady, But the role doesn't fit her at all. They need someone a little younger to play her I think.

It was said that he was interested but nothing was official until today. The movie was also hinted on his announcement trailer for Legacy Season 2. As for Sonya, she needs bigger boobs too :P

crimsonfox4182d ago

Oh yeah that's right, I meant to say " A little younger and she must have bigger boobs " Thanks John2 you the man!

Army_of_Darkness4182d ago

Yeah, I think that was the only character that I didn't like in the series. There are Tons of better and younger looking blondes to play the role of Sonya!

StanLee4182d ago (Edited 4182d ago )

Why does Mortal Kombat need a reboot? The last game was great. Both fans and critics agreed so why make a cheesy movie and eff up the momentum you've built by making the franchise a joke again.

crimsonfox4182d ago

@StanLee
It's a reboot of the movies not of the games

While I liked the Legacy series, it just didn't feel like it was part on the MK universe. I know they tried taking it Down a more 'realistic' approach but If I hadn't of known who the characters were I'd never of guessed I was watching something based on MK.

The old films get a lot of flack but they had balls to try and get the look and feel of the games (minus the gore). Now I'm guessing they have a bigger budget I hope they try and do the same rather than continue down the realistic approach.

GamerElite4182d ago (Edited 4182d ago )

What took WB so long to bring out a new MK movie. MK already have a large fan base. With the last game selling well. It would be stupid not make a new MK movie with all the money it could bring in

cutelittleoshawott4182d ago

Haven't played Mortal Kombat 2011 but I need to.

Venoxn4g4181d ago

oh yeah, you really need to :)

Vandamme214182d ago

I hope Lui Lang is the main character again

john24182d ago

Quite frankly, I'd prefer to see a focus on Sub-Zero and Scorpion. But that's just me :D

Zha1tan4182d ago

Im not going to decieve myself into thinking this is going to be a good film in anyway.

Lets just face up to the fact that it is going to be poorly penned, have bad actors who dont fit the roles at all, some underlying love plot is going to be introduced and it is going to be a bad stain on the Franchise name and reputation when they have built a solid one with the remade MK game.

neoMAXMLC4182d ago

I'm just going to assume that you haven't seen the Mortal Kombat Legacy episodes yet.

Zha1tan4182d ago

yes and lets just assume hollywood is going to give a film good treatment and do loyal fan service instead of going for a mediocre action film with the generic elements of every blockbuster.....yes because their profits dont factor into it at all.

neoMAXMLC4180d ago

I think you're just being far too pessimistic. Considering the director of Legacy is on board, I can't see this film being anywhere near as bad as you're making it out to be. But hey, you're the psychic, not me. :)

My favorite is always going to be Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. I know some people didn't like the addition of the run button. But, man that game is burned into my memory from childhood, lol.

Relientk77162d ago

That's the one I played the most as a kid. Fun times gaming on my Sega Genesis, the memories

Terry_B162d ago

Deception, MK2, MK9, MKX ..rest.

Kakashi Hatake162d ago

MK2 will always be the best in the series. Been playing a lot of MK1 lately though. Definitely enjoying it more than any other NRS era MK game.

Tankbusta40162d ago

1 and 2 were cultural phenomenon's.

I will always have a special place in my memory for MK 1 and 2. You had to be there during that era at the arcades. Martial arts tournament fighting movies were still popular, and MK 1 was exciting. Real life motion captured characters done well (unlike Pit Fighter). A cast of characters we all liked like Bruce Lee(Lui Kang), Van Damme(Johnny Cage), the Lightning god(Raiden) from Big Trouble in Little China, and Ninjas, gotta have Ninjas. Goro was menacing as hell. The MK arcade had some of the best speakers similar to Killer Instinct as you could hear the loud crisp and bassy sound that was distinctly different than other arcades. MK 2 improved greatly on the controls and fighting mechanics
