Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault Out 11/27 for $19.99

We’re happy to announce Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault will be available on November 27th on the PlayStation Store and at retail. That’s right, you asked and we listened: Full Frontal Assault will be available as a retail copy for those of you who love physical copies of your games! Both the download and retail versions support cross-buy as well, so your purchase gets you both the game on PS3 and a digital copy for PlayStation Vita.

The best part is, the US will get a retail release and we get a little more info on how the Cross-buy feature will work on games that are coming to both systems.

"There is no physical version of the Vita game, so at retail you buy a PS3 disc and then you use that disc and your PS3 to unlock the vita version (which you can then sync from your PS3)"

"The retail version includes a PS3 disc w/ the game on it. You can then use that disc in your PS3 to unlock the Vita version for your Vita."

It seems like there will be no Voucher inside the box for the Vita version. You will need to use your PS3 to get access to the Vita version. To me, it's a smart idea and implantation of the feature.

Capt-FuzzyPants4198d ago

What happens if someone doesn't have a PS3 but has a vita? Does there have to be a PS3 involved or can I unlock it without the console.

Godchild10204198d ago

You just buy the game from the PSN Vita store. You will still pay 20 dollars, but if you ever decided to get a PS3, you can download the PS3 version for free.

As mention by Gravelord, the Vita version needs the retail release more then the PS3.

DivineAssault 4198d ago

cool.. 2 games for one price is always a great thing

eferreira4198d ago

I love the Ratchet and clank series

GribbleGrunger4198d ago

Does this mean that you'll have to download the Vita version onto your PS3 and then transfer it over to the Vita? Or will it appear on your Vita? Perhaps in the download list?

wastedcells4198d ago (Edited 4198d ago )

Good question. I'd like to know exactly how this is going to work without a DL code. It's gotta be on the disc.. Right? Technically you if you only wanted the vita version you could buy the ps3 copy download the vita version and trade it in. Wonder how they will deal with that.

DarkZane4198d ago (Edited 4198d ago )

It's probably gonna be a download code. I don't see how you could transfer a content from a disc to the Vita.

If it's code, you can get it on vita. It's probably a code, because vita games are released on stores anyway. They sometime include codes for beta in there, so they could put one that make the vita version free.

I don't know if you played the disc version of Dead Space 2 for the PS3, but that game had Dead Space: Extraction on the disc. You had to use the PS3 to download the PSN version off the disc, you still need the disc in the PS3 to.play it though. So, I think that its the same way it will work for the retail Cross-buy.

The way you got it was, you had to click on the "Bonus Content" disc icon that is located under the regular one on the XMB. Clicking there will reveal Dead Space Extraction, which needs to be installed.

wastedcells4198d ago

They said it won't be a download code but godchild is right.

DOMination-4198d ago

Its a Sony IP. But honestly i feel Insomniac have driven it into the ground. Admittedly i only played tools of destruction which was fab but it sounds like they released too many and the quality went downhill.

Capt-FuzzyPants4198d ago

They've just been trying new things with the past 2. A Crack in Time was the last traditional R&C and I think that was the best game in thee series.

Kalowest4198d ago

The R&C series is still great. The current R&C series All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault, are just trying to do something new with the overall series.

DOMination-4197d ago

Fair enough guys, nothing wrong with trying something new

Man... what i wouldnt give to have a full PS5 UHD of all the R&C games in one collection. i guess streaming them on PS+ is the next best thing (or naturally a PS3)

Aloymetal537d ago

Rift was a joy to play, absolutely beautiful.

FallenAngel1984537d ago

They couldn’t make PS2 versions of those R&C games like they did with the J&D games?

mkis007537d ago

considering they are ps3 games that never had ps2 versions....no.

CobraKai536d ago

Yeah? You might wanna double check that.

mkis007536d ago

Kobra
What fan that waited for launch day needs to know? There were 4 ps2 games the rest starting with tools was ps3 only. Quest for booty, a crack in time, nexus, full frontal assault were ps3 games.

FallenAngel1984537d ago

You really saying Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal and Ratchet: Deadlocked weren’t on PS2? 🤨

theandinator92536d ago

Even Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank had PS2 versions...

mkis007536d ago

Of course I wasn't talking about the actual ps2 games...why would they need to make ps2 versions of ps2 games? That is why I only included the ps3 games in my comment.

FallenAngel1984536d ago

@ no

You must’ve misunderstood what I asked for.

I’m saying they should’ve made PS2 Classic versions of these Ratchet & Clank titles on PS4 so they’d be downloadable just like Jak & Daxter had rather than just streaming the PS3 versions

mkis007535d ago

Ya I realized you meant emulated versions after the fact.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is amazing. I really hope Insomniac are working on more. I'm always up for another Ratchet & Clank game.

CobraKai536d ago

I think it’s still the only “Next Gen” game that truly looks next gen.

Levii_92537d ago

Sick ! R&C is still one of my favourite franchises.

Ranking the Ratchet and Clank Games from Worst to Best

From Xfire: "Insomniac Games first introduced the unlikely duo of Ratchet and Clank back in 2002 on the PlayStation 2. Since then, the series has taken audiences on a journey that has spanned not just an entire galaxy, but multiple dimensions, with its most recent outings."

Levii_921040d ago

Best games of the franchise are Up Your Arsenal, A Crack in Time, 2016 Remake and without a doubt the newest one Rift Apart. You simply can’t go wrong with these.

Man what a glorious game series.

neutralgamer19921039d ago

Only ones I don't like as much are all 4 one and full frontal assault other than that all games are awesome( even these are good games just not up to the standard of other games in the series)

victorMaje1039d ago

Nice article, good list, they're all fun & I love this game!
Rift Apart is spectacular.
Insomniac are wizards, I want their next game to be a new Resistance. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us next.

DOMination-1039d ago

Ryan Mccaffrey said last week that Resistance 4 was in development but Sony cancelled it due to the high number of post-apocalyptic games around at the moment.

victorMaje1039d ago

Well that’s a shame. I feel they could do something truly special with today’s technology.

chicken_in_the_corn1039d ago

I'm looking forward to playing Rift Apart then the whole series sometime afterward. Up Your Arsenal is my favourite
