Hilarious - DICE will not offer an option to remove the color grading effect in Battlefield 3

DSOGaming writes: "This is awesome. No, this is beyond awesomeness and is what we call trolling. A couple of days ago, DICE's Mikael Kalms revealed that the company would offer an option to remove the color grading effect in Battlefield 3. Fast forward two-three days and here we are today with Mikael Kalms claiming that DICE won't offer such a console command after all."

Troll Dice? Someone needs to put that troll face on a pair of dice lol. That would be the perfect picture for this.

Seriously though, why not give console users that option? How will that harm anything?

... Rallisport Challenge 2 was amazing, as were the earlier Battlefield games. I still play Battlefield 1943 on a regular basis.

But the really messed up big-time with Battlefield of Duty 3, with the 'custom servers', with STILL having too many disconnection-problems, with the DLC splitting up the online community, etc etc.

I'm done with them.

I hope another studio decides they will create a Battlefield-type game the way it should be done.

BiggCMan4199d ago

Can I ask, how do you propose releasing extra content, without splitting up players? That's unfair to DICE or any other developer, because it's inevitable when releasing content after the game has released. Some will buy it, and be able to access it, other won't buy it.

Yi-Long4199d ago

... but once DLC comes out, and a certain group doesn't buy it, they usually stop playing the MP altogether, cause half of their friends-list DID buy it, thus the community is split up between haves and have-nots, but many of the have-nots now start playing a whole lot less.

How would I battle it!?

I would include the Premium with the game, meaning free DLC. But I would keep the price of the game at 50-60 bucks for 2 years. Meaning everyone pays 50-60 bucks, but everyone also gets the complete experience, thus including the DLC-packs.

I think that's an incentive for people to pay full price for the game, instead of waiting for a pricedrop and/or GOTY edition, meaning EA/DICE would get their 60 bucks. It also means you start out with AND KEEP a strong community where everyone has exactly the same (COMPLETE) experience!

Everyone wins.

It also means that when you have (and keep) a strong community for 2+ years, those players will have faith in your businessmodel and the value for money you offer them, and making sure the community always stays strong so there are always people online, so they will pick up your next game on day 1 for full-price as well, knowing they can expect the same!

Right now, I know of a lot of friends who bought into the Battlefield-love, gave it a shot, and were very disappointed with what they got, which sadly wasn't pure Battlefield anymore, and once the DLC came out, they bailed and moved on to other games instead.

Planetside 2 ;)

Yi-Long4199d ago

... seems to be getting some positive feedback.

Sadly, my PS3 is completely full at the moment (partly thanks to huge BF3 'updates' you're forced to download even though I can't play any of that new content due to not having bought the DLC...), so I'll have to wait until I buy a new PS3 in december, when I'll be moving to the other side of the world.

Mocat4199d ago

I stopt playing bf3 as soon as the DLC dropped didn't see the point in playing anymore and i wasn't going to pay 50 $ for DLC that i may not like

grifter0244199d ago

To be honest I wish everyone did their DLC like Bungie did with Halo 2.

IF you want the DLC maps you can buy them on release, if NOT then just wait when they go for free in 6months to a year. That way you can at least try them out and prolong the game.

I think the way they did DLC for H2 was one of the reasons it stayed alive so long...heck that game is the only game I waited till 3 AM just to get their DLC.

Rupee4199d ago

Yeah those crappy rent-a-servers were the nail in the coffin for me. I just wanted to quick play like I have with every other f**king bfield game to date... and NOT have to filter through a bunch of 24/7 5000 ticket servers run by 12 year olds. Just a shitty move to make more money.

Somebody4199d ago

I stopped playing BF3 because there were other games that I wanted to play. I returned after a month and I kept getting killed by Premium players with guns that I can never have (unless I buy the DLC).

Made my hours of getting skilled with my vanilla weapons pretty useless and wasteful when some Premium players simply bought their guns/skills in an instant.

If it just like the camo DLC like in BFBC2, then it's fine. Some will buy it, some won't.

BF3's Premium DLC on the other hand forced you to buy it if you want to stay.

da_2pacalypse4198d ago

@BiggCMan Well let's see... They could make mod tools available for everyone and then release free maps? I don't see why every developer isn't taking advantage of this...

Sorry but if Team Fortress 2 still has a growing fanbase after 5 years, I don't see why a game with cutting edge graphics like BF3 shouldn't have the same if they followed the same business model. Happy fans, good revenue, no milking.

jadenkorri4198d ago

stopped playing BF3 cause of stupid kicks, with no dedicated servers, I'm stuck playing on peoples server who will kick you when you kill them multiple times. Some of you may be thinking, oh once a week, no biggie, and i would agree, but when it happened 2-3 times a day, in a span of maybe 2-4 hrs. It got annoying and I'm so glad I didn't pay for premium.

solar4198d ago

Yep. There is a reason why Valve has such a huge following. One of many examples is free content and not segregating their community. In the long run the money doesnt out weigh loyalty.

AzaziL4198d ago

I hate to say it but I stopped playing Battlefield about BF:3, it was a complete letdown and a step backwards from BC:2 and BF:2.

I guess I'll be playing Call of Duty again but on the bright side, I haven't played it since MW:2 so it'll actually feel like a new game for once.

SirBradders4198d ago

@Yi-long
I love bf3 but the disconnection is abit of a joke and tends to happen on 1000+ ticket games. I was playing sein crossing had 40+ kill streak and bam got disconnected, I never nerd rage but my room got it that day I punched everything, so glad my gf wasn't there cos I would of battered her to damn you dice making me resort to violence.

its kinda funny when you think about it a game that started out as a mod than goes around and starts banning mods

Hufandpuf4199d ago

I know what you mean, but there still are some very good BF2 mods still alive.

LightofDarkness4199d ago

Battlefield didn't start as a mod, it was a sort of spiritual sequel to a game developed previously called "Codename: Eagle". That game had the bare bones multiplayer that would lay the groundwork for the BF series (sprawling maps, vehicles, WW2 setting, etc.). I should know, I had that game. SP sucked, but the MP was a hidden gem that made for HOURS of enjoyment (especially that battleship map that was mostly water).

I think you've mistaken BF for Counterstrike.

papashango4198d ago (Edited 4198d ago )

He's not talking about codename: eagle. CE wasn't even a modern shooter

He's talking about Desert Combat and how well that was received. While CS being its own game/mod, DC was what set off the modern warfare era we are in now.

hmmm I think there will be no old BF glory days for EA since they are loyal to their greediness and laziness :D

Knightofelemia525d ago

You're asking for a miracle with EA that will never happen unless they can exploit the money making schemes behind it.

MadLad524d ago

We'll see what happens now that Zampella is overlooking the series.
