What's in a name? The console name game?

A general rant and questioning as to why current consoles have such stupid names.

Then you come up with better names and leave it at that. I could give a crap what my hardware is named.

All I care about is what it does. Here is my rant as to why you waste your time caring about such pointless issues.

The only reason it was called the Xbox 360 was because it was going up against the PlayStation 3. It couldn't be Xbox 2 vs. PlayStation 3 since normal people would just assume the 3 is better. I actually think that was a great strategy.

I guess I don't really get what the author is trying to say. Sometimes console names are good and sometimes they're not, but that's the same as cars, or movies, or any other product that has multiple iterations. Yeah the Wii U name is bad but Nintendo needs to capitalize on the Wii brand. Maybe a list of worst and best named consoles would make an interesting article.

Ok, so you both make great points. To each his own. That's why its called "opinion". Whether you choose to like it or not is your own choice. And, if you choose to let it bother you so much that you have to "rant" back then that's your choice too.

Still have my ps3 copies. Bought it at launch and another one when I found it cheap and in perfect condition about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch but if they made a PS5 version I would. I still have one of my PS3 Fats hooked up so good to go either way.

Id play it again on the switch. I wished my 360 version was bc but this is still a good way to play.

Fallout 3's Reveal Led To Death Threats And Bethesda's First Security Guard

The artist behind Fallout 4’s Deathclaw reveals just how bad things got back when Bethesda took over the series

People are stupid I get it. No one should feel unsafe,

But I think they need to talk about why they cut so many corners during the development process and why none of their games ever look current. And why they think all of this is okay while they charge full price.

LucasRuinedChildhood10h ago

As much as Bethesda deserve criticism, that's not really relevant to the reveal of Fallout 3 in 2007.

The default angle Kotaku always go for is to highlight the worst in gaming.

I would’ve focused on the creative.
