Can't speak for the other games but on the second play of Gears 2 and 3 you can skip the walking Marcus finger in the ear, just push the < on the controller and Marcus will say shut of you talk too much or other lines like that.

Eyeco4204d ago (Edited 4204d ago )

Didn't really know that but thanks for pointing that out I LOVE Gears of War games, but being forced to listen to the horrible dialogue, voice acting, and story in mid game was a drag, Marcus sounds like he's suffering from throat cancer whilst reading some amature sci-fi B-movie script.

That said I don't really agree with the games inclusion on this list there are far better examples of incompetent design in games, for example the inventory in the Resident Evil games have always been terrible, and incomprehensible, sometimes they never made the lick of sense lets say you have an empty clip, and you find ammo in a corner but you have no space in your inventory, you can't pick the ammo up wtf.

And my favourite Killzone's purposely lagging controls , they were dreadful, I liked the games but that whole nonsense that it was trying to be "immersive" is complete bullsh!t you felt like you were underwater, the way the gun sways is completely unrealistic.
Please somebody pick up a gun or a broom or something aim with it and tell me Killzone was an accurate depiction. The laggy controls sucked and you always felt that they let you down especially online, you could even argue that they kind of botched the sales of Killzone 2 after the release of the demo 1 week before launch. I remember reading articles that pre-orders dropped after the demos release.

Saturne34203d ago (Edited 4203d ago )

Killzone 2 controls have good side and bad side.

good side: makes everything more tactical so that players can have great competitve matches.

bad side: there´s certain classes that have diferent abilities like cloacking and a faster sprint with a certain pre-determined weapon but the problem was that it allows you to pick other weapons laying around the map and still be able to use those unique abilies. No one likes to see invisible men with machine guns! that kills the competitve nature of the game. The overpowered flying/ground turrets are also an anoyance.

Killzone 3 wasnt made to be seriously competitve just fun and it does that pretty well.

MidnytRain4203d ago

I liked KZ2's aiming. Anyone saying it was too slow is full of crap. There was sensitivity option that could be tweaked to be just as fast as any other game. If you were still missing, then it means you sucked, because the guy who just owned you didn't seem to have any issues.

Eyeco4203d ago

Even with the aiming patch it was still pretty bad, it even carried onto Killzone 3 although not as bad as 2 it was still pretty annoying, its becomes so much more apparent online.

Why is it so hard for you to accept that the vast majority of gamers had a problem with Killzone 2/3's aiming ? The fact that GG even had to release a patch for this, alone proves that the majority had a problem with it.

Theres a reason why to this day people still play COD 4 while its near impossible to get into a game in KZ2 and KZ3 is a ghost town. Think about it, why do you think the best selling FPS on the ps3 is COD, fast controls and features something that KZ as a whole has always lacked.

I understand you had no problem with the games controls, but that doesn't mean other gamers didn't, try being a little more open minded ok.

MidnytRain4200d ago

I realize that not everyone liked it. The problem is when said people want to change a game that's different to be more normal. If you don't like it, leave the niche games for others like me and play something else. NOW, we have the "crowd pleaser" we call KZ3.

Well I guess Mirrors edge could have been done without guns, I never used them anyway..
But if the enemy didn't have them the game would have been SO much easier, especially trying to do the speed runs.
It was a necessary urgency and it needed to be in the campaign, running away from unarmed police when you have the speed and elegance of a gazelle would have been laughably trivial.. I guess the author didn't do the time trials?

humbleopinion4204d ago (Edited 4204d ago )

Pretty good writing. I usually don't have high expectations from "top" lists, but this one nailed it.

Although I think that at least in the first Gears the "mic" section were used at chokepoints to disguise loading the next section into memory. I recall Halo 3 used a similar mechanic with some caverns you have to go through, and so did Uncharted to in the tunnels you pass through of the train level.

mochachino4204d ago (Edited 4204d ago )

I loved the forced walk, it allowed for story progression and 'bonding' with the squad.

And in Red Dead, I just put aiming to expert.

Saturne34204d ago (Edited 4203d ago )

Auto aim in RDR and GTA4 just make the gameplay less enjoyable but i guess casuals will always will take that for granted when they get to play the games.

Manual aim did sucked in previous rockstar games before GTA4 but not any longer.

Mirrors Edge guns was just a nice extra fun for the player the way i see it.

Gears Of War 3 And Judgement Servers Are Brimming With Life Once Again

Gears of War 3 and Judgement servers have returned to their "updated" condition, adding several features, such as increased XP and more.

I currently play Gears 3 often, especially after the 60 FPS Boost. Gears of War is my favorite gaming franchise, and the Locusts are the coolest faction in history. Gears Judgment will always be a disgrace for not having the Locust in VS multiplayer.

AuraAbjure302d ago (Edited 302d ago )

GoW 3 and Judgement were the last installments before the series went woke and soulless. I'm level 50 in GoW 3 and LOVE it's multiplayer to death. It's just so crispy.

The og deus ex is magical. Im also very exited about mass effect legendary edition from the gp. Its next on my playlist never played mass effect game before.

IamTylerDurden1347d ago (Edited 347d ago )

Never played ME? It's imo the greatest trilogy of all-time and perhaps the best setting outside maybe Fallout. Play it. Great DLC as well. In 2 & 3 at least. Skip Andromeda. Also, Human Revolution was great as well even if OG fans claim otherwise.

shinoff2183347d ago

Mass effect 1 was great. I feel they dumbed down alot on the 2nd one and seemed more action like. Mass effect 1 the citadel was an explorable city. Far as I got in Mass effect 2 it was reduced to a location list no traveling through it. I disliked it alot(the citadel) part. I also feel they went more action oriented then rpg

just_looken347d ago

It always makes me mad when you see something you have done in the first mass effect or dragon age can make something change in the 3rd because bioware make 6 games in what 8 years? that did this but today 0 games do this.

I wish we had trilogies today were we can share saves and have multiple endings/path's on all 3 because of choices from anyone of them.

Its so funny being the bad sheparad from one to 3 then the end having just you and joker ha ha yet everyone is like hey your a hero with a 90% casualty rate.

CBaoth347d ago

Fallout can't hold Mass Effect's jockstrap. The one Fallout even in the ballpark is 3, and that's only because the DLC was extremely good. When Ken Rolston was in Bethesda's employment were they good. That's about it. They're now the world's greatest copy/paste developer out there. Bioware at their pinnacle was ten times better a studio than Todd's team. Go look up the games

IamTylerDurden1346d ago

Mass Effect is my favorite, followed by 2 and 3. Yes, ME2 was dumbed down but also refined in terms of polish and accessibility. ME2 had an awesome story, great DLC, and a solid cast. Mordin in particular. It's a great game. Even 3 which was the weakest was still solid imo despite the ending. If u love ME how do u not enjoy all 3?

Fallout is not a better game though FO3 was great. In terms of setting though Fallout is Mt Rushmore. The 50's post apoc setting was brbrilliant. I still put ME setting n lore above but FO is up there with setting.

Miraak82 347d ago

Xenogears is my fav sci fi rpg

closed_account346d ago

Right? There's a serious lack of classics on this list.

The original 2 Star Oceans. Rogue Galaxy...

IamTylerDurden1346d ago

Rogue Galaxy never got that critical love. Beautiful PS2 game. Was it L5?

closed_account346d ago

@IamTylerDurden1 Yep, Level5. Love their stuff. Dark Cloud 3 please...

Godmars290347d ago

Why aren't there more? A Star Trek RPG for one. Or something with non humanoid aliens?

shinoff2183347d ago

Cause for some damn reason medieval is more popular ugghhh. I'd take some sci fi sh anyway over it. I've said time and time again I hope the elden guys are working on a sci fi type game.

Godmars290347d ago (Edited 347d ago )

Something non-post apocalypse or dystopian. Just world saving. Fighting bad guys while doing good and dealing with ethical/moral/psychological quandaries.

sadraiden346d ago

The reason why fantasy RPGs, and Fantasy as a genre, are more popular than Sci-Fi, is because of the low technology/high magic tropes. If all of your problems can be solved with looking up the answer on a smartphone, well, there's just lower stakes than if a character has to have a sword fight, and climb the tower, and rescue the fair princess and recite the ancient incantation to seal the evil.

Obviously you can have universe ending stakes in Sci-Fi, but that requires abstract reasoning, and an ability to RP in a way that is progressive instead of regressive. Couple that with Sci-Fi games and media generally being faster paced, and you've got a genre that attracts a very specific demographic of gamers.

just_looken347d ago

or go crazy and make a starship troopers rpg can you survive the bug fight?

The animated show was great showed what someone can do with the lore.

Fist4achin346d ago

A Starship Troopers game as a real time strategy like the command and conquer series would be awesome.

just_looken346d ago

@fist

We have that today but its a small team with a smal budget
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Its not a major rts sadly but a start

jznrpg347d ago

I really hope Naughty Dog is doing a Sci-Fi game. As a lover all most things RPG I would love to see Naughty Dog quality in an RPG.

porkChop347d ago

They could do some really great stuff with sci-fi. The sense of grand adventure of Uncharted, but also with the stealth and crafting of The Last of Us. Different planets, creative alien races, collecting junk to craft repairs and upgrades for your ship and weapons, etc.

shinoff2183347d ago

Porkchop

Your getting me excited for something that doesn't exist. Damn

shinoff2183347d ago

He'll yea , hope we here something about that if they are. I'm not to worried about factions at all

just_looken347d ago

If it was the old naughty dog i would want that the new naughty dog no thanks.

IamTylerDurden1346d ago (Edited 346d ago )

TLOU2 is the finest game ND has made. U4 was fantastic. New ND is a more impressive ND. I don't rate Crash n Jak like i do Uncharted and TLOU. Even Uncharted 1 and 3 were not as well crafted as TLOU, TLOU2, U4 imo. Idc if ppl troll TLOU2, most ppl are clueless, that game was incredibly impressive.

TLOU2 combat, visuals, and acting were the best of the genre. I found the story deeper and more profound than most but it's subjective. The level design was excellent also. The score. Audio. Animation. It was a masterpiece to me. The rope physics, detail. TLOU2 deserved Elden Ring scores and ER deserved TLOU2 scores. If any game deserved 97 in recent years it's TLOU2. Best game i ever played and if ppl come with Abby bs i already know it's not worth it. Those who call TLOU2 trash are foolish. Just look at it running...
