A New Way to Purchase Games

This buy online concept will only continue to grow. It helps kill used games and gamers pay a little less initially. Next gen it will be paramount.

we actually pay more since most games at amazon are price slashed but on the PSN store,they remain 59.99

i don't understand that unless you work for sony you will like that, because last time I checked myself when we are talking money, i don't give a damn about sony, Microsoft ... etc etc

I was setting up my second Xbox for my son and found that I had to export the licenses for all my Arcade games to his machine so that he could play the arcade content I'd purchased. As long as he only ever uses that machine, this should be fine, as the licenses are also tied to my account, so I can play the games while "roaming" on my own machine. But if he ever wants to play the games on my box (with the better TV), or I set up a third machine for my daughter, they won't be able to play the games, which won't be a problem with all my disc-based games...

To be honest this way of doing things could become messy. Developers basically stripping their games to pieces and selling them in bits and on top of that theres DLC.

I'll abandon gaming altogether if purchasing games online becomes the preferred method of distribution. Steam has got it right, pricing structure is amazing.

Digital downloads on consoles are a joke, way over priced and no competition meaning prices will never shift like they do on the high sreet.

I wouldn't give up gaming all together, I'd just stick to the classics and not purchase anything new until physical media is an option again - IF they went fill 100% digital.

I think this model makes a great companion to brick and mortar stores.. However digital sales will not lead to the extinction of physical game sales.. There's just something magical about going to a midnight release, chatting with fellow gamers, feeling the tension build, getting home and ripping open your copy, the smell of a new disc, the sound of the disc loading into the system and the elation when that start screen appears.. Granted there are alot of people that prefer digital but its not a strong enough segment to do away with brick and mortar..

but on a cold night when u dont want to stand in line for that game day 1 digital downloads sound good to me to bad we don't have that yet but since i dont have that desire to purchase day 1 at da store it really doesn't bother me to do more dashboard shopn as i calls it

What do you mean we don't have that yet. I got dishonored the day it released on psn. Plus assassins creed 3 is realesed the same day on psn as in stores.

Yeah you can get games the second they are released but you way pay more for them and those prices dont drop for months, where you can go to a shop and get it for £10 cheaper.
Digital games are a great idea but the pricing is just stupid for a game you never truly own.
They have no distribution, packaging, marketing etc etc yet they charge more ? it should be like 2/3 the shop price for it to be worthy.

@majors Actually I can pre buy need for speed on the PS store for 12 bucks cheaper then a brick and mortar store.. No waiting, no sales tax just instant gratification.. Its an excellent program...
