EB Expo 2012: Final Verdict: OXCGN’s Report Card

OXCGN:

"This was it. The sequel.
A whole year in the making, and did it deliver on its promise to be bigger and better than the first ever EB Expo?"

I went to last year's one on the Gold Coast and had fun. Everything ends up being in Sydney, which is a bit annoying.

The fact is that Australia has had 'game shows' before, but nothing of this scope. Next year looks huge with PAX and EB Expo. Can there be 2 big shows in Australia?

Hopefully so. But I fear that publishers will choose one or the other and both might suffer.

I think EB and PAX are two different shows, catering to different audiences.

I got the impression that EB Expo, especially the staff working, were too over-the-top in pushing sales.

I think PAX suits a totally different market.

The more games shows over here the better IMO.

After seeing a couple of previews and having a go at some games, watching/taking photos of cosplayers and collectible exhibit toys and other stuff, thought it was a nice experience..

..but still lacking. I'm sure it will improve in time.

I don't know if mixing comics and games - like a back-to-back Oz Comic-con and EB Expo would be a good idea because they both cater to the same crowds?
