If you think a Review is an Opinion you're an idiot

Hidden Mission writes: Over the past few years it's become very clear to me that many a journalist and gamer alike have zero clue on what the word review actually means.

Whenever I hear "oh, a review is just an opinion" as an excuse I cringe. A review is SUPPOSED to inform the reader, but when modern reviews are full of so much misinformation and fanboyism...

Saying "this review is just an opinion" should be seen as an insult. A review should be more than just someone's opinion. It should help guide the reader's purchase.

And of course, I'm setting aside the fact that a lot of reviews these days are just a thinly-veiled advertisement for whichever game dev is paying the bills for the website.

I don't trust reviews from these mainstream sites..High scores are just thrown out to games that suffer from all kind of flaws which the journalist often fail to mention. The major sites will do anything to keep that ad space money.I remember when Jeff got fired from Gamespot over his review for Kane&Lynch.

I agree NYC. I think the mainstream sites seem to be unwilling to mark down the bigger titles when they have flaws but will flail lesser titles for the same issues.

I totally agree, I think reviews should be an imparcial description of the quality of the game.

No one has to listen to what the reviewer says. But to others it is a guideline to the game. A reviewer tells you what he observes and what he does or doesn't like and it is up to the gamer if he or doesn't want to buy it.Like I always say 'tell the truth and let the gamer decide if they want the game' not make excuses for it or say it is good so you won't anger gamers. What is worse is when they have nothing to say about the bad things in mainstream popular games but make sure and pick on the smaller titles for the same thing the big titles do. Bethesda for instance gets away with all the glitches and problems with high scores and praise but just watch any smaller less popular title do that. They get ripped to shreds over it.

Reviews are so misleading. I would honestly never rely on someone else to tell me if i should or should not play a game based off of their experience with it. I like to read about what is in a game what the modes are and stuff but not anything that forces the writters opinon on me.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space
