Another week has gone by and the Nintendo 3DS entertainment system has edged by the competition, gracefully landing the number one position on the worldwide charts once more. Things continue to look positive for the Nintendo brand as they dominate the dedicated handheld gaming space.

The industry as a whole has had a positive week, with almost all units ending the week with a substantial increase in weekly percentage. A much needed boost for overall moral. Hopefully next week we will all witness the Nintendo 3DS entertainment system pass the 21 million units sold milestone. Which will be a worthy achievement unlocked for the industry leading dedicated handheld device.

As we scoot closer to the holiday season with exclusives, and bundles formulating at every turn. I predict that the Nintendo 3DS entertainment system will pass the 25 million units sold mark by years end. Significantly furthering its install base, while maximizing 3rd party developer support. We can only hope for the best.

are humorous. I never find them offensive to anything else. Meaning they arent specifically attacking in nature but simply pro nintendo for the most part.

granted that alone will yield a slew of disagrees but these posts are nothing like the derogatory ones made specifically towards other platforms or the fan base.

Definitely because of the new PS3 model. Interesting that sales increased that much without a price-cut. Maybe Apple's strategy of releasing sleeker hardware at the same price of the old hardware works for more than just Apple?

Good to see that Uncharted 3 is still selling well and it's no doubt due to the game of the year edition.

See Sony, this is what happens when you do a good job at marketing and building hype for a product, it makes money.

Same goes for the nearly 2 year-old Gran Turismo 5.

WOW the 3DS is flying and everyone said it was dead in the water. Good to see the PSV it 3 million and im sure they can push to 5 to 7 million from now to January.

I think the PS3 and 360 are both selling well so late in there life with no price cuts and it looks like the new PS3 revision has helped push the sales this week.

The wii has seemed to of hit its peak but then again its not long until he WiiU is out so ide expect the sales to drop off with a new console being launched soon.

I hope that all 3 carry on seeing well over the next few gans as to me having Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo all pushing each other over the past 10 years has been very good for the industry all together.

In America you can buy an xbox for $199 but if you want a PS3 it's $269. It makes a difference to the casual consumer even though there is way more value in the PS3 model

Three months ago, I told my cousin that the 3DS was going to continue to sell well over 150K a week until the end of the year, he was all like, "BullSh*t, nobody wants that, they want Vita"!
I told him that he didn't know what he was talking about, obviously he didn't and still won't acknowledge that he is wrong. I know the Vita is more powerful but this wasn't about power, it was about which would do best. When the Vita came out he told me that the 3DS was going to die, what a joke!

im sure he also told u that all that moves on it are 1st party software as well.. Despite its massive success, it will suffer the same fate as the wii, having little to no AAA 3rd party support & little to no software above a Teen rating.. Highest home console seller is PS3, second & 3rd place in the handheld market is PSP & Vita.. PS is selling a great deal in the market.. Not banking on one lil piece of hardware.. The PS brand stands tall & will continue its domination of the market share as time goes on.. selling 1st, 2nd, & 3rd party software in all genres..

Monster hunter 3g, rune factory 4, senran kagura, harvest moon, resident evil... just a few 3rd party games with great success on 3ds.

Then there is mh4, fantasy life, bravely default, Phoenix Wright and plenty more incoming. The 3ds has INCREDIBLE 3rd party support in line with the ds, and it's only getting better.

Sony is still ruling the industry holding 3 spots on the list.. #1 selling home console & 2 handhelds selling well feeding the hungry core handheld community.. These #z will grow consistantly as more exclusive software is released & unparalleled 3rd party support.. Publishers & developers will continue giving sony all multiplat & exclusive IPs so that all PS supporters will continue receiving core titles as well as 1st party AAA software.. Once PS4 enters the market, there will be little room for competition on the market with 4 gaming machines having a healthy amount of software in all genres.. Good job & keep up the good work..

Tho i no longer own a PSP, i still have access to its library through my vita as well as PS1, PS mini, PS mobile, PSN, & PS vita software.. Soon cross buy titles will add to its versitility when PS3 games come packaged with the vita version at no charge.. A great option to give their supporters more reasons to keep PS as their primary consoles...

Well, after all the hype I expected hardware sales for the Vita to be higher given LBP was released. LBP Vita bundles were also attractively priced.

Sadly but like MS did to the Xbox they need to cut the ps2 &psp. What is the reason to upgrade when you still get new games and support. If they want to attract devs they need sells. Instead of 50k for the pap and 50k for the psv it's it should be 100k for the ps vita. Plus it simplifies things for the casual gamers. You walk into GameStop and see 6 different Sony products its a little confusing. Sony likes to support there product for 10 yrs and that's awesome but I think they'd be better off dropping support for last gen products.
