Screw Mw, I'll wait for this!
(I'm joking, this is ridiculous though!)

We need a NFS that has the variety of settings and graphics of The Run, but without all the (dozens and dozens of) silly-to-idiotic design choices made by Black Box.

Criterion's M.O., where every terrain and car feels the same is just plain boring, too. The fact they are overseeing the franchise due to The Run's failure is awful. Elevations, rain, ice, sand should affect handling, and that just does'nt happen in Criterion's world. Cars should handle completelly different based on weight, rear or front wheel, and so on (and not just on how you drift). In Criterion's games, you only need the fastest car, then you drift all day every day. There's no reason to go back to a previous, slower car. The only "variety" is using weapons or not. Boring.

Weaving and just... plain DRIVING feel awful in Criterion's games. Leave the drifting + full speed 24/7 to Out-Run and make games with actual handling, Criterion.

napalmbrainmusic4210d ago

if u want 'actual handling' play gt5 and quit whining!

Lvl_up_gamer4210d ago

Or if you want the whole package and not just "actual handling", play Forza 4

RavageX4209d ago

The hell are you on about? NFS has hardly ever been about realism....Shift tried and before that...maybe the first NFS game. (Road and Track or whatever)

Lordchunk4210d ago (Edited 4210d ago )

Why am i not surprised

GamerElite4210d ago

Not breaking news. A yearly new NFS game. What s surprise.

Its being developed by criterion so ill buy 1st day :)

ethan5057d ago

Same here! Can't wait to get my hands on this game!!

poindat5057d ago

Criterion is officially one of the most epic developing studios in existence. I can't think of many others who have jumped in and saved a franchise from the throes of death purely because they loved the series. There may be less money to be made in catering to the core gaming audience rather than the casuals that the previous few NFS games have been directed to, but I'm so glad that that one factor hasn't once again clouded EA's judgment.

Like everyone else is saying, Criterion + classic NFS = pure win

Resistance5057d ago

if its done by criterion its going to be a must have in my opinion :D

morkendo5057d ago

criterion put a lot of time an energy in this game.
the road look almost real so do the cars.

I can't wait to try the game out.

CobraKai5057d ago

I was surprised to see damage on those cars. The Hot Pursuit game on the ps2 was always my favorite NFS.

Highatus5057d ago

Same here Cobra, easily my fav... So many hours spent playin that game. I'm glad they are bringing it back and the fact that it's criterion.

PoSTedUP5057d ago (Edited 5057d ago )

I liked HishStakes for the ps1. (am playing them both right now IIIhotpursuit n highstakes)
HotPursuit II for the ps2 was GREAT though, i loved the Opel Speedster in that game, such a great car.

this game will be EPIC and that is the only true word to discribe it. i think EA has been 'drinking and developing' when working on the last couple of installments of this franchise because they really stunk.

God_Of_Epicness5057d ago

I knew I heard about this one before. Just remembered the Hot Pursuit that was originally on PS2. I loved the game so much. Can't wait to try it again.

Aikuchi5057d ago

I loved seeing the Buggatti Veron

poindat5057d ago

I've been praising Criterion for the past several hours, and damn, I can't just can't stop. It's not every day that a franchise is given new life solely out of love for the game, especially for something that was looking as hopeless as the NFS series was.

Exotic cars, exotic locations, intense racing action... Yep, sounds like a proper Need for Speed game alright, the kind that I've been waiting over 7 years to see once more.

PoSTedUP5057d ago (Edited 5057d ago )

yup i agree. the undergrounds were good to me and then nfs carbon was ok, but they really need to capture the feel of the ones for ps1 like highstakes and IIIhotpursuit and hop pursuitII for the ps2, thoes were the best imo with highstakes being my favorite. we should be seening classis cop chases and modes etc. just like the originals

morkendo5057d ago (Edited 5057d ago )

God_Of_Epicness I knew I heard about this one before. Just remembered the Hot Pursuit that was originally on PS2. I loved the game so much. Can't wait to try it again.

DUDE, the first original hotpursuit was on PS1 got the game in my hands right now. your talking about hotpursuit 2 on ps2 which i also have.

Sounds fantastic. Waiting until November will suck though...

N4GAddict5057d ago

Glad they returned to Hot Pursuit

FordGTGuy5057d ago

If NFS spent anymore time in the dark I was going to start growing fangs.

FordGTGuy5057d ago

This TDU2 and GT5 should keep me covered as far as racing games go for awhile. Hell I'm still working on beating Forza 3.

McMee5057d ago

Shift was just kind of neat for me, not a real nfs game. Hot Pursuit on the other hand got a hell yeah from me when it came on. Good time to bring it back.

Z7775057d ago

lol I loved this game on the ps1, NFS 3 Hot pesuit. I am guessing this is a revised version of the great classic?

NFS3HP had a very awesome soundtrack. I think the reason this NFS stood out to me the most is because it reminded me so much of the ps1 version... Wasnt there also a ps2 verion of hotpersuit?

PoSTedUP5057d ago

yeah hot pursuit 2 for ps2. was one of the better NfS games.

Keanu7775057d ago

It looks so great. Criterion at its best!

poindat5057d ago (Edited 5057d ago )

Really takes me back to the good old days when the franchise was alive and kicking. This is what NFS is truly about.

After suffering over the last few years with the crap that has been put out, I'm so glad that EA has finally realized that Undercover was not NFS. ProStreet was not NFS. Carbon was not NFS. Underground was not NFS.

This is Need for Speed.

InfectedDK5057d ago (Edited 5057d ago )

WOW EA IS ON FIRE!

So far:
Need for Speed
Dead Space
Medal of Honor

And they all impress!

Also they show PS3 a lot of love - Great to see..

ShinMaster5057d ago (Edited 5057d ago )

I still hope they have more than just "exotic cars".
And yes I mean "tuners".

[edit] Don't disagree with me! xD haha
I just feel the number of cars will be limited if it's just "exotic cars".

Shadow Flare5057d ago

looks awesome. Just like the classic NfS games. I'd still personally like it if this game was open world but i dont mind if it isn't. I trust Criterion fully. They're great

Sunny_D5057d ago

@Poindat I agree with EVERYTHING you just said. Everything! I really, really hope they remake tracks from NFS:HP2

blumatt5057d ago

Yes! Back to the old days of Hot Pursuit. I loved the Hot Pursuit titles.

UnDone145057d ago (Edited 5057d ago )

Same here. I never got into those Underground games or the recent Shift game.

The screen shots look very promising. It looks fantastic. Looking at those screen brings me back to Hot Pursuit (PSX), High Stakes (PSX) and Hot Pursuit 2 (PS2). That's when NFS games were good.

poindat5057d ago

...Criterion states on their website that the game is 100% inspired from the original NFS games. That they want to take the series back to those days.

Criterion has just received a massive respect boost from me; these guys truly do care about the gamers.

- Ghost of Sparta -5057d ago

The PS3 is lead platform for this, just like it was the lead for Burnout Paradise.

BYE5057d ago

Just like almost every EA game.

saint_john_paul_ii5057d ago

well they said all their games lead on PS3 now.

DavidMacDougall5057d ago

EA's looking good, lets hope there servers can run all these online games .......... get BF ****ing fixed!

jack who5057d ago

i been waiting 10 years for this

poindat5057d ago

I thought that the day would never come when we gamers would get the true Need for Speed back. Today is a good day.

saint_john_paul_ii5057d ago

BTW Dead Space 2 Demo on Sony Conference tomorrow.

xplosneer5057d ago (Edited 5057d ago )

I have just watched the video on Criterion. This is amazing. The best destruction racer plus the best cop racer combined in one. Epic.

Still watching. EA's looking very impressive right now.
