It’s Time For Japanese Developers To Stop Hoarding Their RPGs

Kotaku: When I think about all the role-playing games released in Japan that never make their way to U.S. shores, I like to picture a snarling dragon sitting atop a pile of game cartridges, spitting fire at anyone who comes within breathing distance.

It's a good thing I find many ways to play my JRPG in whatever means necessary, so I don't feel denied, right Nintendo of America?

Demon's Soul, Sony?

Black Rock Shooter English Version coming to PSN & PSP.

Between companies like NIS, Atlus, Sony, Namco and X-Seed, there aren't actually many titles that don't make it west nowadays.

The wait can be excruciating, sure, but now certain companies have seen the sense to localize their products (or pass them off to people that will) there aren't massive dependencies.

The prob is more that , every month that fly by for unreleased titles , the unlikelihood of it getting a western release is stronger

Take even a big jrpg serie like "Tales of" we've already skipped 6 games (including three remakes) from the main series alone since the ps2 days .

Unless by some luck , mobile and tablet gaming suddenly become worth something and see those games , it's game we'll never see officially released by now , as we've moved to other machines and tech standards .

There are like 20 each year that don't make it. And a lot of those are the ones we would rather play.

It's not like they are holding back the trash. Some of the games we will never see are some of the best of the best.

I'm still waiting on .Hack//Link (PSP), Valkyria Chronicles 3 (PSP), Tales of Innocence: R (Vita), Tales of Heart (DS), FF Type-0 (PSP), Tales of Vesperia (PS3 ver) just to name a few. T_T

Type O better come on vita as well. I played the Japanese version on my PSP, and it was amazing, but sadly, my PSP has moved on to join the PS1 in the sky...

It broke my heart that I had to find a rare-ish used copy of Tales of Vesperia for 360, instead of being able to purchase its far superior PS3 counterpart. :(

I'd rather some rpgs were never ported at all. When DQ8 was ported to pal (cos I'm in Australia) it was god damn awful. I was AND STILL AM super pissed. Graphics went from a 9 to a 3 :(

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron - Coming Back for a New Generation

Originally launched in 2011, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is coming to Nintendo Switch, so It's time to look back at the original.

Still have my ps3 copies. Bought it at launch and another one when I found it cheap and in perfect condition about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch but if they made a PS5 version I would. I still have one of my PS3 Fats hooked up so good to go either way.

Id play it again on the switch. I wished my 360 version was bc but this is still a good way to play.

Fallout 3's Reveal Led To Death Threats And Bethesda's First Security Guard

The artist behind Fallout 4’s Deathclaw reveals just how bad things got back when Bethesda took over the series

anast4h ago

People are stupid I get it. No one should feel unsafe,

But I think they need to talk about why they cut so many corners during the development process and why none of their games ever look current. And why they think all of this is okay while they charge full price.

LucasRuinedChildhood3h ago

As much as Bethesda deserve criticism, that's not really relevant to the reveal of Fallout 3 in 2007.

The default angle Kotaku always go for is to highlight the worst in gaming.

I would’ve focused on the creative.
