Fable The Journey impressions: for every motion, a consequence | VG247

Fable: The Journey is another chance for Microsoft to prove Kinect’s worth to the hardcore. VG247′s Dave Cook plays the first three hours and explains why swapping morality for motion isn’t all that bad.

holy shux...what if my balls started to itch while in a middle of battle.

Perjoss4218d ago

Same situation as with holding a controller, either pause the game and scratch or take the ultimate risk and play and scratch simultaneously!

ChunkyLover534218d ago

Cant wait to get this game on Tuesday! Microsoft must love making me poor!

IWentBrokeForGaming4218d ago

No Fable game I've EVER played carried out as extreme consequences for my actions, as they market the game to do!

I really loved Fable 1 but the passion was lost for me in 2 and 3...

grayfoxx8814218d ago (Edited 4218d ago )

Yeah, I really loved the first one. Who was the bad guy, Jack of Hearts? Great game. I thought it was pretty unique how your character aged. MS should do an HD remake for that game. Fable 2 was alright, but I didn't finish it. Haven't played 3 and most likely won't play the new one.

wastedcells4218d ago

Fable 2 wasn't bad, three was a disappointment. This game has me worried. First fable game I could care less about.

Psychonaughty4217d ago

I preferred #3, it just felt more polished overall and having John Cleese as my butler was the icing on the cake.

from the beach4217d ago

I've beat all three Fables and I honestly think this will be my favourite after I finally get it later this month.

As for this routine of top previews and terrible reviews, we've seen it before and know it's basically a scam, so if you're interested in this game at all I'd strongly recommend just trying it for yourself.

Shadonic4217d ago

Idk if its a scam or if its just that reviewers don't realize the differences between the preview play space and the playspace used in the review IDK even i was astonished when i read how steel battalion didn't work but when playing it actually worked well after some practice with learning the controls Obviously there must be some huge difference.

from the beach4216d ago

I think it's a scam pure and simple - the hardware seems to work fine when it's a 'casual' (Angry Birds / Wreckateer) or 'kid-friendly' (Sesame Street / Happy Action Theatre) game, but somehow when it's a serious (Steel Battalion / Star Wars) game nothing controls properly? Please.

Shadonic4216d ago

I have to agree with you on the steel battalion thing even though it worked well for me there were hick ups when playing i wouldent say its as bad as reviewers say but if you take some times experimenting you can learn how to make it work (im going off of the demo here and gameplay vids from darthgarvi actually) for star wars i wouldent say it didnt work it worked pretty well to me honostely only things i had problems with were the huge monster crushing game and i only had problems with say 2 moves in that. I belive most hate for that game is comeing from just plain old hardcore starwars fans that belive that battlefront was canceld for a kinect title. Idk why most of the games that get bad reviews work great for me maybe its because i study the movements of people that play in demos at events( if you really look those that play and say its bad are really stiff) or its probably because i look at other people that play kinect for help idk. I just belive that if you put in the work to honestly and whole heartedly learn the controls, mimic them correctly and set up a reasonable enviornment to play it in it will work because basically for the kinect to work for you you have to work for it first. (BTW when i say you im talking about everyone as a whole)

from the beach4216d ago

Absolutely - if you use the correct commands and have the proper setup (both issues which lie at the feet of the player) these games are not just good, they're bloody amazing.

Top 10 Worst Kinect Games

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "A few days ago, Microsoft announced that they were officially discontinuing their Kinect motion-sensing accessory. What was once considered a chief-rival to Nintendo’s Wii revolution and an integral part of the Xbox One’s launch has come to an end, and we here at Link-Cable… couldn’t be happier. The Kinect, while sporting impressive technology never managed to live up to its full potential and most of the games released for the device either had shoe-horned in support or barely functioned as intentioned, in part because of the device’s very specific ideal conditions. So as the Kinect sails off into sunset, we’ve decided to remember the worst of times and look back at the Top 10 Worst Kinect games."

Kinect, for me, is easily worth owning for two things: Dance Central for me acting like an idiot and having fun, and Kinect Party for my kids when they want to have easy-access stupid fun at like a kid's party. Those were the only games I have enjoyed on it, and they couldn't be done any other way (well, I guess that KP is EyeToy-level work). But my hope is that when motion control falls away, we'll get a proper DDR again.

andrewsquall2353d ago (Edited 2353d ago )

Yet for 150 quid it is and was most certainly not worth owning for solely those 2 games, that you have to pay money for also.

Now far be it from me to tell you what is worth it or not worth it to you. But if that is what is worth it to you, I don't want to know what ISN'T worth it lol.

RyanDJ2352d ago

It was worth it to buy one used for half price and get one of those two games for free. ;)

datriax2353d ago

All of them are tied for 1st place.

darthv722353d ago

Star wars wouldnt be so bad if it didnt have.... the dancing. Ughhh that dancing.

They should do a list of 10 best kinect games as well. I'm sure fruit ninja and gun stringer would be on there. Those are actually fun to play.

Would you say absolutely horrible hyperbole? :D

4Sh0w2519d ago (Edited 2519d ago )

Halo 5?....pffft to each his own but Halo 5 is a great game, every Xbox owner I know enjoyed it, the campaign was nice I like the teamwork concept and the multiplayer keeps 'em coming back with great gameplay & modes so much content, 343 did a helluva job.

Christopher2519d ago

@4Show: Uh... going to assume that's a comment intended for someone else.

spicelicka2519d ago

Not Halo 5. It had a bad story COMPARED to past games but it didn't have a bad story overall. The gameplay was top notch, and multiplayer is still one of the best on the market right now. Custom games browser is the single greatest thing 343 did which I'm grateful for.

ninsigma2519d ago

Nah it really was a bad campaign. MP was great but seriously, that was a hugely terrible story mode.

spicelicka2518d ago

The story maybe, but some of the missions were extremely fun. The Sangehlios ones are right up there with the best missions in the franchise.

Kingthrash3602519d ago

Halos mp was great but became boring quicker than most.
The story. Naw that was bad and it's marketing was a lie. Made it seem like old master chief was gunna fight that new fake master chief but the conflict ended up being a one punch cgi sequence.
Not to mention fighting the same boss over and over and over....plus add the no split screen mp and whala! You got the worst canon halo ever made

brich2332519d ago

Compared to Halo 4, Halo 5's story was trash and not memorable at all.

ninsigma2518d ago

That's not really saying much though cuz that was pretty bad as well.

ninsigma2518d ago

Agreed on sanghelios. That was one of the very few times it actually felt like halo.

And another article with 15 items from this website *shakes head*

MadLad2518d ago

Halo 5, FarCry 2, Dragon Age 2, Nuts and Bolts, and Gears of War: Judgement were all far from bad games. Hell, even Crackdown 2 was pretty fun.

There's a difference between a lesser sequel, and a bad game.

rlow12518d ago

With a Title that says "horrible sequels", most of these are far from that. Better title should be disappointing sequels. But I'm sure they went with the former to get clicks and bring in the fanboys.

i miss a Black and White game so much

Bahamut2967d ago (Edited 2967d ago )

Good times. Back when Lionhead Studios actually meant something. Black and White was awesome, Fable was great, Fable 2 was real good, then it all went downhill from there.

They had such big aspirations and goals, it's a shame that it came to this. I knew it wouldn't last when Peter Molyneux left. Say what you want about the man, but he had vision. True he never followed up on 75% of what he said, but nevertheless the heart of Lionhead Studios came from him.
