Ken Levine Wrote The Script For Big Daddy And Little Sister In 'PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale'

When a studio brings together more than 20 game characters from different IP owned by different studios around the world, it can be easy to lose track of the characters' origins and what they stand for. The team behind Sony's upcoming PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale were careful to avoid that, according to SuperBot's Omar Kendall.

Speaking with Polygon, Kendall said that it was very important for the developers behind PlayStation All-Stars to respect every character that joined their roster. The studio even had Irrational Games' co-founder, Ken Levine, write the script for the Big Daddy and Little Sister characters from Bioshock who appear in the game.

See this is the type of gaming respect that I like to see. When a game features a cameo it should be done right. This just makes me more excited to play all stars. Hopefully they bring in gex at some point.

They do have some very stylish details in this game. For instance, they mix the soundtrack from the different games together based on which games are represented on screen. The more I hear from it, the more excited I get.

He wrote dialogue for the Big Daddy? What did it consist of, a lot of whale noises? Little sister doesn't have that much to say either. Just call him Mr. Bubbles and you're done.

I'm actually really looking forward to this game but this news seems a bit silly to me. With characters like Nathan Drake where you have to work hard to make sure the character feels and talks the same as in his other games, Big Daddy and Little Sister could have been written by anyone. Still it's nice that the developer was working close with them I guess.

Tonester9254220d ago

It's not just their lines? It's their whole cutscenes and how they behave to give it that authentic Bioshock feeling. Anyone can't do that

If Ken Levine is cool with Big Daddy in PSASBR then others should be too IMO :)

Just say it... Platinum games! *evil grin*

I was going to continue to mention Plat games but we all know anyways :)

Some characters in this gamr doesn't make any sense, how are they PS ALLSTAR?

Its kinda funny to see that Ken Levine as a much better business relationship with Sony than Microsoft.

Bioshock Vita and now this.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Launched 10 Years Too Early

Though PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a bit of a cult classic, it could have been a big hit if it launched in 2022 instead of 2012.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69520d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop520d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard520d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi520d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin520d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus527d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer526d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
