PS3 and Vita combo bundle 'not out of the question'

CVG - A retail promotion that offers an 'elite gamer bundle' of both a PS3 and PS Vita this Christmas is a genuine possibility, according to managing director of PlayStation UK.

I agree and I am shocked they haven't hinted at this sooner. I know it isn't the same as the Wii U but Sony could take some of the spotlight away from Nintendo this Christmas with a bundle of the PS3 and Vita. Just having is there is still competition

So, Playstation All Stars Battle Royale. The PS3 version gives you the PSV version for free.

So something like that could work well with a PS3/ PSV bundle.

I think ps4/vita bundle + gaikai to bring AAA ps4 games to vita on the go would be something wiiU cannot do next gen.

Maybe they can create some nostalgia and sell the combo for $599 US dollars, because that would be one expensive combo pack.

The main thing is, what would be the main selling point? There aren't any games on PS3 that require you to use the Vita as a controller.

It's a good idea for Sony, but there is a good way and bad way to do this. If Sony does something stupid like only shave 10 dollars off the total of both systems' current value, it will fail.

If they can include games with remote play like LBP2 and the GoW collection, they can probably sell the systems at a profit. With just the core systems though, that would be too expensive.

This sounds awesome, and is definitely necessary to combat the WiiU. I think that just the PS3 + Vita combo will do, just to keep the price down and all.

Either way, I can't wait to hear the inevitable "I don't care if it comes with an HD 3D TV, a PS3, and a PS Vita. I want it to be below $300!"

Can someone tell me what the big deal is with Black Friday (like for instance why shops have massive discounts). Here in the UK we have the after christmas sales which I understand the reasoning behind it (to not make a lul in shopping after christmas and in clothing terms get rid of "last seasons" stock and bring in the "new" spring stuff (reason for having summer sale as well). But then it is still mainly clothes and not electronical stuff

You can't tell, because there's no price on the supposed bundle.

And, honestly, a PS3/Vita bundle at the same price as the Wii U would be a better value. A home console with a massive, varied library; a portable console powerful enough- and enabled- to play the home console's games away from home, as well as its own library, and the libraries of at LEAST two other consoles.

How about waiting until we have details before deciding which would be the better value?

My guess would be - with the cheapest PS3 and Vita model - a bundle would cost £400, likely including a game that works on both systems.

Cheapest Wii U is £250, and that's for a brand new console with gamepad as standard and the guarantee all games will support it.

I realise it's essentially two consoles v one, but I think that also works in Wii U's favour, in a "our one machine can do what you need two for" sense.

But the fact that their are not many games available that take full advantage of a PS3 Vita the way all games do on the Wii U to warrant such a bundle. Sony developed the Vita as a stand alone Device that can theoretically o the Wii U things through firmware updates, the issue is that Sony isn't mandating it across development of both the PS3 and the vita so it would be highly deceptive should they say, oh it can do it, but release 2 games that can with little to no support for other games. Its more a gimmicky marketing tactic. If they are going to show the ps3 vita combo can do everything the Wii U can, then Sony should mandate across development of titles, both first and 3rd party. So it has the facts to back up the statement on a broad scale. Then it becomes Less of a marketing ploy and more of a product looking to compete.

Such a smart move maybe make it a Red or Blue PS3/PSV so people will really want it, but PS Vita still need's some more games I personally have not seen any games that would make me buy a PS Vita except for AC3. PS Vita seem's like an incredible system it's a shame that developers aren't interested in developing for it they should really be taking advantage of the whole cross platform thing get creative. More cross platform games would be great for PS Vita so if I go on vacation I can continue my save file from the PS3 version on the Vita.

I'd say $349.99 bundle that comes with LBP2 and the Vita DLC.

I'd be kind of pissed if this happened. It'd be a great idea and probably sell pretty well, but I bought my Vita at full price and still need a PS3. Kind of selfish of me but still.

I'm on the same boat. If they don't cross my line and turn the Vita into more of a compliment for the PS3/PS4 I'm fine. But people seem to have an obsession with things like remote play and this and it makes me uncomfortable.

Totally agree. Remote play seems cool and all, but for real it's stuff like that that's holding the Vita back.

I know right? It's ironic. People were complaining about how the PSP "plays nothing but console ports" but now welcoming the idea of the PSV downright just playing the PS3 games themselves instead of autonomously playing its own games? I think it's a fine feature and all, but I see way too many people saying "remote play for every PS3 game NOW!" I'd focus on pushing other things like more/better Vita games higher up in Sony's priorities first.

They need to get the video apps on the Vita too. (Vudu, CinemaNow,Crunchyroll, Laugh Factory, Sunday Ticket, etc. And they need to market the PSVita just like the PS3, a mobile media hub. This will also help with bundling the systems. Especially Vudu, which supports uvvu. If they are going to use cloud-based services they need to go all out, not halfassed. I see great things coming for the 2 systems though. And if they were really smart they would add Home to the Vita too. The die-hard users of that app will buy just about anything that Sony brings. There is no reason why they can't, the smallest cache for the Home app is 3 gigs. I will bet my life that there are people on Home that would buy a Vita JUST for the Home app. Any thoughts?
