"With less money put into PR and holiday marketing, along with a lack of news that gamers want to hear, Sony could be at the top of a steep hill down. This might be Sony’s last generation in the games market." | Explosion.com
Sony has recruited Bungie's head of revenue Jaremy Rich to head up its live-service gaming division, Rich has announced on social media.
Please do not put Destiny’s monetization into Sony’s first party games. The monetization is what’s driving players away from Destiny.
I mean, this person made some pretty bad decisions at Bungie. I hope they've learned from them because I definitely don't see those type of ideas as good for PlaySation in general.
Ps5 gamers in 2023 seemed to play more live service types of games, so regardless to how people feel about them, numbers don’t lie and Sony is going where the money is. I mean look at the excitement around Helldivers2, people are showing that they want live service games.
How do you kill a franchise that already been killed?
Destiny’s grind, cash-in-on-playbass-cha-Ching, and pop-culture-insertion mainstream-me-too bs totally killed any rep Bungie had. Sony/Bungie, if you are doing this to ward-off players, it’s already working.
Sony has patented to add multiple dialogue modes to let players switch between how many conversations with NPCs they want in the game.
Sony is like the only ones outta the 3 that has atuff like like this pop up changing thing in ways.
Genuine Enabling Technology was seeking damages, claiming the tech allowing PlayStation consoles and controllers to communicate infringes its rights.
Sounds like patent trolling they tried the same thing against Nintendo with the same pattern.
Motion and control input traversing over higher and lower frequencies seperate from each other allowing the controller to do both
So to recoup the money Genuine is going to take on Nintendo or Microsoft next. I hate patent lawyers they are some of the worst bottom feeders out there.
Sony isn't dead when it comes to gaming. We can expect many changes within the company spending wise.Sony just needs to cut down in some departments and rebuild.
I think the media needs a slap. HARD.
The amount of bullshit aimed at sony this gen is unreal.
Right a lot of publications are missing the other side when it comes to laying off half the PR team. It could be an indication of Sony moving to the next generation. Why have the crap part launch a new system (considering the PR department hasn't been good this generation).
"The lackluster sales of all of their current-generation systems may have pushed them into a rut that discourages their continued involvement in the games industry. Sony hasn’t always focused on gaming: cameras, HD televisions, and those archaic things called ‘CD players’ used to be their main industry."
This is rubbish as the gaming division is one of it strongest divisions and I wouldn't say the PS3 didn't sell well.
"It would explain why they insist on keeping the price of their systems high and why they have not revealed more details about the sequel to their current console"
Keeping the price is an attempt to make a larger profit off their new PS3 before jumping into the next generation (as the PS3 will take a hit when it comes to the PS4 announcement)
"I picked up a B.A. in English with a specialty in Poetry" again no business background so stay out of analysing Sony's business. You do not see this in any other types of journalism.
Will this be your last(fan boy driven, flame-bait) article?
It seems that actually journalism has gone by the way side.
Gotta love the influx of ridiculous flamebait articles involving Sony over the last few weeks. Sony isn't going anywhere scrubs.
