Theoretically, there's nothing stopping people who pirate 360/Ps3 games from doing this as they have access to the files on the disk. Not sure if it has been tested in any way, though.

Mind you, chances are this .ini file is stored inside a savegame anyway (otherwise how would they be able to update it to say you've used your key?), so there's potential there. One thing you have to remember is that the Borderlands modding scene was VERY popular - on all platforms.

I have no problem with this. Mainly because I'll only be playing with friends, and if I do decide to play online with randoms, I'll avoid hackers (or in this case, simple file editors) like the plague.

Maybe, JUST MAYBE, I'll give this a look after finishing the game a few times. Otherwise, I want to enjoy the game before I ruin it.

also, it's really annoying to farm for items. I'm all for farming levels, but items is a hassle (it takes forever in Persona. At least for me). Going by their estimate (87 bazillion guns), it would take a really long time to get the perfect gun.

Doesn't effect even if you play with friends. As you will have an extra gun so big deal? Makes your game a little easier but doesnt really effect your friends game and if it gets too easy which it wont as the gun you get from key scales to your level. You can always unequip it.

I'm glad Gearbox left everything open for tweaking like Borderlands, but being able to give yourself DLC like that isn't particularly good.

Those disagreeing note that I bought a $300 video card that included BL2 for free and since my code said Steam Preorder I assumed I was getting the preorder bonuses. I did not.

If yours was a pre-order, try verifying the game's integrity in its properties. I didn't receive my pre-order stuff at first either. I had to do that first, and so did many of my friends.

Disappointing that this folder isn't in the NVIDIA promo version. Bought a $410 card, the first was defective, and they couldn't even throw in the pre-order DLC?
