10 games that changed Playstation history

OPM UK writes: We look at the PS One, PS2 and PS3 games that cemented Sony’s consoles in living rooms, bedrooms and very rich people’s pool houses the world over. PlayStation past and present thanks you, classic games. Take a bow. A pixellated, CD-ROM bow.

Ive owned all those games except ICO and Monster Hunter, so many good memories, i remember now what it was like to game in those days, you just buy a game, and play it, there wasnt any multiplayer, patches, dlc, broken games, fanboys, swag bag reviews etc

How times have changed

Ain't it the truth. Now they can break a game after it's release:\

Wait, no broken games? I don't know what magical platform you were gaming on but in my experience after some 30 years of gaming, back in the day games shipped broken all the time and there was simply nothing you could do about it. You either relied on word of mouth or game mags and their reviews to help you avoid wasting your money or you were stuck with a game that was practically unplayable.

At least now if there's serious issues that somehow sneak through testing the option is there for the developers to support their games and fix them after the fact and gaming is better for it as a result.

Some great picks there like Ico, MGS, Gran Turismo 2 etc.

But no God of War and Ratchet & Clank?

Relientk774242d ago

Yea, I am a little suprised the list is missing

God of War
Ratchet & Clank
Shadow of the Clossus

Sizzon4242d ago

those 3 should of been there.

it should of been a top 20 instead of a top 10 xD

Relientk774242d ago

There's some amazing games on this list

God of War, this list is missing God of War.

The only franchises Sony owns that are the kings of their genres in terms of sales, critical acclaim and sheer amount of fan-power is Gran Turismo and God of War, nothing else Sony owns comes close.

God of War should be first for still being the absolute top franchise of its genre today, Gran Turismo should come second because GT5 was so disappointing and in terms of acclaim it has been surpassed by other games.

Sizzon4242d ago (Edited 4242d ago )

now, these days in terms of sales and critical acclaim you could throw the uncharted games on there aswell, but yes I agree on sales and critical acclaim of both the god of war games and the gran turismo games except GT5 for critical acclaim, sales however, it is the most sold ps3 exclusive to date.

ps1; gran turismo 1, 2, ps2; god of war 1, 2, gran turismo 3, 4, now with ps3; uncharted, god of war 3, gran turismo 5

Eternal Darkness was way ahead of its time especially for a Nintendo exclusive.

I would love to see a remake or sequel (multiplatform)

When I see Eternal Darkness, I klick!

This Feature Makes Lethal Company Scarier Than Resident Evil

Games like Lethal Company end up scary because of their freeform nature, while Resident Evil's polish and storytelling ultimately make them rather tame in comparison. Agree or disagree?
