DMC Getting Caught Up

Devil May Cry is franchise that has paved the road for top tier Hack N' Slash game play. With upcoming release of the series reboot, retailing, prequel or whatever it is many longtime fans have become concerned and even let down by the face lift that Ninja Theory has done but I'm here to say don't worry it's all good. If you take the title for all it has to offer and try to look past the series roots you will see that Ninja Theory with strict supervision from Capcom has created an entry that could in all likelihood surpass all the past titles. I love the franchise but this reboot is a shame... WTF with the new Vergil... and fans thought that Dante's new look was bad... this just gets worse

Get over the way they look already they changed it end of story. The gameplay looks good and fun that is what matters. If everybody doesn't like the new look oh well don't get it but i'm sure they will change it back when and if ninja theory gets to make another devil may cry. Seeing how nobody likes it. I honestly don't care just want to play the story and have fun and that is that man. This generation of gamers complain to much about things that change but always say they want change but when it happens all hell breaks loose.

Hey, this is Capcom guys.
They will sell the game for 60 $, and day one you'll have a Premium DLC to have the old skins for Dante and Vergil at like 5-10 $, thus making more money.
Don't expect the game to be stuffed with bonus content like Bayonetta was.

The game is surely getting better, but the guns still seem quite useless.
And the gloves seems to be made out of clay, not stylish enough.
The game lacks the badassness of a real Dante, but it's not THAT bad.

Too bad because what could have been a great game with just the right character design, is bashed a lot.

a 30 frames hack and slash will not be that different from other mediocre hack and slash battle systems like Genji or Enslaved. If the reboot turns out good it'll sure not be because of the battle system just like with the God of War series. And don't get me wrong, GOW is an amazing franchise but not thanks to its battle system and this DMC reboot will be the same.

What drew me to the DMC series more than GOW or any other hack and slash game was its battle system not the story, platforming or whatever else NT is tying to achieve with this reboot. At 30 frames stuff like frame-canceling and original combos will not work and if that were possible fighting games like MVC3 or SFVI wouldn't strive for 60 frames.

And the re-releases on PS3 have all been 60fps games...

And people talk about 60fps like that matters to game play! Look at Ninja Gaiden 3... that was a POS according to many and it ran at 60fps... That arguement means shit! Its all about responsiveness and execution and as far as gameplay looks it looks everything as bit as stylish and balls to walls frantic like all the past DMC games, I honestly wish the cry babies would just SHUT UP> YOU all dont like the game, GREAT, Stay out of the article and dont buy the game Capcom isn't forcing you to buy the product you have the choice... You guys have been bitching since TGS 2010 and The game has Come along way and you all are still BITCHING.

If you're going to judge the game on trailers you've all done that for the past 2 years and it'll be 3 years when this game launches. Just stay away from it if burns you that much.

THIS isn't your DMC of 2000, its a Re-imagining, a REBOOT, a rebuild. So the only things canon to this is the name, and the characters everything has been thrown out and ITS OK.. That's why its called a reboot/re-imagining.

It can pretend all it wants to be the same and as deep , it is not and wont play as well .

I don't want to play an action game with mindless aerials for 5 minutes with no difficulty curve and unbelievably silly gravity , especially while baffoons try telling you "see it's the same gameplay ! It's as deep and combo heavy !" . Nuh Uh .

But enjoy the video guys , i'll just go back to a seemingly better looking and feeling Darksiders 2 gameplay while waiting for MG rising .

Don't, ths game will never surpass the original series, the slowed down combat, the ugly looking character models, ruining characters and their personalities (Vergil being Mr Nice guy), a horrible sounding story...I could go on but it just feels like NT has taken a massive crap all over past titles and what that series built up in terms of gameplay, themes and een fans. I mean you know that whole Half Angel stuff NT has got going on in the game...that was their idea, NT suggested it which proves to me they don't have a clue about DMC.

I mean I know these white knights only defense for the game is "But it looks pretty"....well yeah of course it will do, it's what happens when you sart to develop games especialy near the end of a current gen, games start to look better so obviously it's going to look better then DMC4 but at least DMC4 was at 60fps. The other defense for the game is "Oh you guys just hate on it beause of the hair"...no it's not just the hair in fact thanks to the new trailers I can safely safe that the New Dante comes off as a total d*ck.

Funny thing is while having the advantage of being a newer game , DmC isnt even looking that much better graphically wise than DMC4 while running slower.

We dont have some ermit on hand whose opinion isnt swayed or "tainted" by either side , but if you put the two in comparative screens or even analyze the animation , DMC aint necessarily coming on top .

And it's not even as if DmC could use the justified excuse of being more open in its world or displaying that much more stuff . All it changed from what we've seen so far are the morphing but still very linear levels . It will mos likely just load less than DMC4 .

Graphics - I own part 4 and while good only the main characters looked good everything else was way below in quality. Dynamic lighting was almost non-existent which means the enviroments felt stale. There is more to this but it would take to long.

Set pieces - part 4 had so much retread that is painful...I mean really painful. None of the set pieces were in any way shape or form standoutish.

Story - I shouldn't have to point this out to any fan of the series but the story has always been trash...and this is coming from a fan.

The pieces of a good gaming puzzle are more than 60fps.

Also how do you know the levels are linear do you own it...they may very well be but level design has more weight than just throwing in enemies for one to cut up.

Just my opinion and maybe some food for thought as you continue to hate on the reboot.

And i'll never claims that DMC4 looks better , especially as a rather OLD game . But DmC should look leaps above given its technical trade offs , and yet it doesnt .

Precisely , and so far the sums isnt good to some of us without much of value gained from the downgrades and trade off .

Does the game have a better gameplay than past titles that could make losses like smooth framerate worthwhile ? Nope

In fact NT wouldnt even dare pretend there is a single upgrade gameplay wise compared to past titles . They'd insist , righfully so as it would look silly otherwise , on their simplified gameplay while PRing it being "as good and interesting" .

Has anyone seen yet something that look truly bigger and open in the level design ? Nope , mighty prophin' trickery at best . Again from what we've seen and touched so far . Comparing demos , the games have near identical level design outside of the visuals thus far.

When has any fan pretended the story is really good in DMC titles ? WHat's also getting funny is that you guys are already decided than DmC got a better story so far .

How ? We only know the focus of NT when it comes to stories and their rep for it , but it doesnt mean it will always hit the mark and be any good .

Amazingly enough the DmC defense force's main argument is always "wait to see it " "dont judge yet" , but when it comes to the story arbitrarily decides what we've got so far is an indication of better . So we can't judge what we see from the gameplay and hear from people that touched the game , but should take at face value that this part is better ?

The end game might be different , but right now all we've got is rather standard fare , with as a bonus some rather obnoxious hero you'd hardly root for , despite not being an actual antihero of sort .

That's a lot of "maybe , "What if" and question maks for an aspect usually less relevant for the franchise , again at the expense of the rest .

It's part of the issue , but way more than just about that .

Heck it's an important feature for the gameplay however people want to gloss is as minor fluff... i'm rather convinced you wont be Performing double just frame inputs while charging a move for over 100 frames that easily , if at all ... but it's not the only single defining aspect . .

I'm an*l retentive , but so are usually many big DMC fans . Precisely because the game's wealth of gameplay and depth of combos system allow you to be . It allows you to obssess over silly frame things , cancels , just frames , just presses , double taps , using every glitch of the system .

The game is art that way , even the righfully maligned DMC2 and , ok but weak DMC4 .

We do not recognize that ability and artform in DMC and see the same run of the hack and slashing we ALREADY had with most titles , hence part of why it's not good enough for the sake of the franchise

We are an angry cynical snobbish bunch too obviously .
But how can it not be aggravating to see some people (i wont include you , as i known nothing about you anyway) from mediadom preaches that all is fine and retain the depth and core essence , when we do know for a fact , that some of the "journalists" marching the PR campaign of the game barely knows anything about the older games .

Some discovered it via the HD collection , and some others wouldnt even know about the tricks of the games .

So yeah i'm peeved , just like i'm usually peeved when i notice some IGN or gspot journalists demoing or discussing a fighting game while sprouting erroneous fact , while it's obvious they dont know how to play it , and knows next to nothing about its mechanics .

First there is Nothing in what was shown so far that indicate that this title might surpass Devil may cry .
Second everything that is shown is only disapointing.
The simple fact that the focus is the story or the morphing is only the truth that , even with supervision from capcom , NT can't arrive to the standards any serious DMC fan would expect ..

The gameplay looks to have improved & I do find the whole "environment coming apart" interesting look-wise.

But changing Vergil is going a bit too far, I mean they changed Dante & the majority of fans didn't like it, so they changed his Devil Trigger to look like Classic Dante.

Now his brother is all buddy buddy & has had his look changed also... What??

I also agree that they seem to think that in order for us to like a character, he has to be "punk" with a bad attitude.

I really don't see what the hell is wrong with the new character design, plus we have no idea how the story is going to play out, who knows in the end maybe the whole damn thing is a dream, a mock-up.

Sad thing is, in this generation everyone wants the same darn thing over and over. If I have to hear how great another BS call of Duty game is or how awesome A.Creed number billion is I will puke.
