American McGee's Alice 3: Welcome to Otherland

A little over a year ago Alice: Madness Returns hit stores, the sequel to the popular game American McGee’s Alice. It received mixed to positive reviews, and was very popular among fans of the original game. In the end, Alice: Madness Returns was a successful game. Upon completing the game I only had one question left in my mind, “So what comes next?”. After a bit of research I found out that the possibility of a third Alice game has been addressed by Alice’s creator, American McGee."-Rantgaming.com

I really hope so! I Love these games!

The weird thing is that he wanted to do Alice 2 for a while and it took EA FOREVER to finally let him friggin do it. This is why I hate publishers these days, they want money, they dont want fun games. Alice 2 was easily one of the best games I played the entire year it came out, and yet EA blew it off to hype up their FPS titles....

Like he said, EA (and any third party publisher) doesn't care about innovation or the game itself, they just care about how much money it'll make....It sucks. Just put the minimum amount of money into this, you know it'll make it back, look at Alice 2. Whats the problem with releasing fun games? Not everything needs to be the next blockbuster title.

I wish McGee owned the rights so he could shop the idea elsewhere, then suddenly EA would wake up and publish it.....I have a feeling the only reason EA greenlit Alice 2 was because of Tim Burtons movie, so unless they make another movie I think this one is screwed....

Madness Returns was hands down my fave game last year.

MattS4261d ago

That and the fact that McGee's studio is quite specifically about casual and mobile gaming...

rdgneoz34260d ago

Their next "mobile and online platforms" game looks like it'll be interesting. Set in Japan, a sort of Red Riding Hood game, with fighting demons, wolves and mythical monsters. Love some of the concept art.

I loved Madness Returns. Not so much the first one that came with it, because controls felt awkward. Looking forward to 3rd instalment nevertheless.

Alice 2 was indeed a great game!

EA is just so stupid!

I enjoyed the last game... Though I hyped it too much. Anyway I welcome a third game.

prototypeknuckles4261d ago

I really hope this happens although it wont be game of THE year I found both games to be very entertaning, and a great twist on the Alice series, make it happen.

Baka-akaB4261d ago

Media failed the game . They nitpicked it to death , while it's plot and art direction was easily as good as their Enslaved darling , even better WHILE sporting an actually way superior gameplay and some challenge .

mttrackmaster384260d ago

What does Enslaved (a game that's ripped to shreds every-time Ninja Theory is brought up) have to do with Alice 2? It was hardly anyone's darling. You seem bitter.

Baka-akaB4260d ago

Actually the press loved it and overlooked any of its flaws . While they ignored Alice a game with the same storytelling qualities and a gorgeous design . That's all

Adolph Fitler4261d ago

Would be awesome to see another one.....& just to have the platformer genre represented a bit more with another Alice game, as nobody makes platformers anymore, I mean apart from Nintendo & there hero character Mario, there really is no PS3, 360 & PC representation in this genre anymore. It's sad, for consoles, this genre is what made home consoles & what made home consoles popular.

Alice: Madness Returns - Retro Review

Reviewing Alice: Madness Returns almost feels like a rite of passage for me. You see, I'm from the same town as the childhood home of Charles Dodgson, better known to you and I by his pen-name, Lewis Carroll. As such, he's a bit of a local culture icon.

I played Alice: Madness Returns for the first time last year. What an amazing game and adventure. It's a huge shame we aren't getting a sequel to it. It absolutely deserves another game.

0hMyGandhi136d ago

oh yeah, I remember this game! I remember liking it, but found the platforming to be utterly obnoxious. Loved the world design.

Good review!

According to American McGee, EA Declines to Greenlight “Alice: Asylum”

Alice: Asylum, the anticipated third game in the Alice series, has been passed on by EA according to American McGee.

XiNatsuDragnel377d ago

Wow EA you guys should do it frfr

robtion376d ago

For anyone interested in seeing what the third Alice game (Asylum) could have looked like here is a link to the design bible that outlines the art, game-play, and story for the game in great detail. Such a shame.

Excuse me for being blunt but fk you ea.

Relientk77377d ago

I played Alice: Madness Returns for the first time last year and it blew away all my expectations. It's amazing, fun, weird, wonderous, and so much more. A very creative and unique game. It's devastating to hear we aren't getting another Alice game. If EA doesn't want to do another Alice game than sell the license to American McGee.

robtion376d ago

He tried that approach. They won't sell the license. They say Alice is an important part of their game catalogue. They refuse to actually make another game in the series but won't let anyone else do it. Ridiculous.

IamTylerDurden1377d ago

Shame. Both American Mcgee's Alice and Madness Returns were tremendous games with incredible art direction.

sadraiden377d ago

Does American McGee not have enough clout in the industry yet to start his own publishing house? Dude has been around since the early 90s, he worked on Doom II and Quake, AM Alice was a revelation when it came out, and he's had a few other modest hits as well. Does he really need EA?

ZwVw377d ago (Edited 377d ago )

Obviously not. His studio Spicey Horse was shut down and nowadays, he's been spending most of his time being an unapologetic CCP shill. How ironic for a guy whose first name is American.

shinoff2183377d ago (Edited 377d ago )

Ea owns it

Also zw sure thing 👍 smh

IamTylerDurden1377d ago

He does not. That's all old news. Man was creative and deserves to run a studio. Alice was sublime.

I personally think there's better on gamepass then what was listed. State of decay imo is better then anything listed. Recore seemed alright for what I played on there also.

roadkillers468d ago

Is Recore any better to play now?

Concertoine467d ago

Yeah, especially on One X or Series X. It kinda feels like a PS2 platformer, but in a good way. I liked it.

KillBill468d ago

Odd that he specified 'Game Pass Ultimate' instead of just 'Game Pass' just so he could include a relatively weak choice comparably in 'Alice: Madness Returns' which is available with EA Play. SoD was a far better overlooked game to have listed.

Crows90468d ago (Edited 468d ago )

Dont know why they keep listing ultimate. Gamepass is the better value....but the reason I think is that ultimate includes online gwg.

MadLad467d ago

I mean, as someone who games both on PC and Xbox, Ultimate makes a whole lot of sense. There's console exclusives and PC exclusives. And, at the end of the day, EA Play is still a perk of having Ultimate. When I open Gamepass, the EA Play catalogue is sitting right there for me. It's as much part of Gamepass as any other title I'm looking at, right?
