Nier is my favorite rpg of all time. Being a father with girls might have helped that, but I just love the game so much.

Daver4260d ago

I would add Costume quest, it was simple but very nice game.

showtimefolks4260d ago (Edited 4260d ago )

nier and Valkyria Chronicles

are very underrated games must buy for RPG fans. neir while critics were hit and miss anyone who has played it loved it

also anyone looking for old school old style RPG should really look into 3d dot hero its like $10 bucks and totally worth it

TheDivine4259d ago

I just bought 3d Dot Heroes a few days ago lol. Great game for 10 bucks new. Im also just starting The Last Story as i type this. So hyped im off for 3 days and im going to play the shit out of this. Id say Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, and Xenoblade are my 3 favorites with Magna Carta 2 and Resonance of Fate as honorable mentions. Cant go wrong with those.

JellyJelly4260d ago

Absolutely loved Nier! Amazing game with amazing music and story.

I'd also add Kingdoms of Amalur. Not the same type of RPG but still very entertaining. And there's a chance people forget it because Skyrim and The Witcher 2 were released around the same time.

REALgamer4260d ago (Edited 4260d ago )

I picked it up with a bunch of other games on sale last year, but only ended up playing about an hour before ignoring it (and eventually returning it).

It just felt extremely clunky and old to me. Also very empty, as if the game was unfinished.

If it's one of those games like Infinite Undiscovery that has a horrible first few hours but then somehow transforms into an awesome game I'd be willing to give it another go.

Otherwise, if the rest of the game is just like the beginning it's definitely not for me.

Valkyria Chronicles FTW (though it is more of a Strategy RPG in the vein of Breath of Fire.)

Jeanne d'Arc was amazing ! Great pick.

Sad to see so many titles on handhelds, wish the consoles got some love with these kinds of games. Cant be hard to port to XBLA can it?

ElasticLove4260d ago

A Wizard of Oz RPG? Never heard of it, but now I must get it right away (from the description it sounds awesome).

Me either, but it looks great, will be buying it asap.

Tales Of Graces Ƒ Retro Review – Holding Out For a Hero

Gary Green said: Namco Bandai heard the call of many fans asking for the PlayStation release of Tales of Graces which was originally released seemingly exclusively for the Wii back in 2009. If you’re acquainted with the Tales series then Graces f won’t be something entirely new to you, yet if you’re a newcomer then you’ll find a plethora of gameplay mechanics and nuances that distinguish this series from other JRPGs. While the game finds itself following the traditional archetype of JRPGs, such as a somewhat clichéd story, Graces has something to offer to both veterans and newcomers alike.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil2d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai2d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing691d 20h ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle1d 19h ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal1d 18h ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa1d 17h ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal1d 14h ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth II - PC Wore it Better

Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth II was an intriguing and unique RTS title, that sadly suffered in its console port.

dadavis19922d ago

Was just thinking about this game and wishing I had a way to revisit it. The way EA scrubs these titles from existence once their licensing runs out is horrid.

Michiel19891d 19h ago

there is a client made by modders and it also works online.

kevco331d 19h ago

Indeed. The game can still be played online on PC.

Xbox 360 players, though? Bang outta luck.
