Can Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation Save the Playstation Vita?

Is Assassin's Creed III: Liberation the game that can save the struggling Playstation Vita, or is even the French Revolution not enough? Producer Martin Capel shed some insight at Gamescom into the latest Assassin's Creed game for the handheld console, and I offer my take on what it brings to the table.

The vita doesn't need saving but more software will make things better

Blankman854263d ago

Does not need saving? So SONY adjusting projected sales DOWN by 4 million is a sign of prosperity then?
Let's get real folks. VITA is an amazing piece of kit but up until now, has been selling way below expectations.

LOGICWINS4263d ago

"Let's get real folks. VITA is an amazing piece of kit but up until now, has been selling way below expectations."

Which is a good thing IMO. Sony has proven with the PS3 that they can do miraculous things when their backs are to a wall, I see Vita being no different.

TheGamingArt4263d ago

@Logicwins get's it. I seriously hate these retarded doom and gloom articles though. This device is far from needing 'saving'

Anon19744263d ago

That downward revision was a combination of both the Vita and PSP. Combined they expected to sell 16 million in the current fiscal year and last quarter revised that down to 12 million.

Sales for the Vita aren't really that far off from initial sales of the PSP when you glance at the longterm sales charts, and the PSP is at what? 75-77 million now? Mind you, everyone moaned about what a failure the PSP was for some reason.

Awesome_Gamer4263d ago

Well, i'm buying one because of this and Uncharted/Killzone.

stuna14263d ago (Edited 4263d ago )

What's it going to be!?! Everytime a game title that "MOST" consider to be a big title, be met with the same never-ending question???

@LOGICWINS
I knew I liked your name for some reason! Because right now your "LOGIC WINS"!

Unexpecta4263d ago

The Vita doesn't need to be saved. Liberation is not the only triple AAA title dropping on the Vita that will make people go, WOW! There are tons of killer titles, perception changers.

Kaylith4263d ago

Having read over the ways that Liberation will be utilizing all of the Vita's features, I'm in the 'perception changer' camp. I do think the Vita's not doing so well, but maybe the AAA titles that will be releasing for it will get people to take notice.

NastyLeftHook04263d ago

lol i like the word "save" being added to every vita article, its so overused and way out of order.

beerkeg4263d ago

It's not doing too well. A great bit of kit needs to sell so it doesn't become a Lynx.

NastyLeftHook04263d ago (Edited 4263d ago )

its doing amazing for me.

beerkeg4263d ago

Sorry to burst your bubble dude, but it takes more than it being amazing for you for it to be successful.

I loved the Atari Jaguar, but it died a death.

ChunkyLover534263d ago

The bundle is the one I'd be most interested in, but only if they had a memory card bundled with it like they originally intended. I just don't have $300 to spend on a handheld, $50 might not seem like much, but we are in an Obama run recession.

$249 for the Vita, Game and at least 4 gigs sounds about right to me.

cee7734263d ago (Edited 4263d ago )

correction we are in a bush recession obama is cleaning up bush's garbage

POLITICS as USUAL

ChunkyLover534263d ago

How do you get out of a hole? You don't dig deeper my friend.

I don't want to get into a political thing on N4G, I was just making an off handed joke, because the economy has gotten loads worse since Obama took office, you cant use an excuse that he's cleaning up a mess.

Not passing a single budget, Obamacare and adding 1/3 to our national debt is all reason enough for me to vote against him this November, and your talking to someone who was fooled by his BS the first time around. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Obama said in his first speech that if he didn't reduce the national deficit significantly, he was a one term president. So it seems to me like he only wanted one term.

Hicken4263d ago

So let's look at something.

Let's say you get promoted to be the CEO of a company in need of a turnaround. You've got lots of good ideas and high hopes for the company's future. But at every turn, the board of directors is blocking your attempts to change things, because your ideas don't mesh with their own.

Now, four years later, the company is in an even worse situation- with a few improvements here or there- and the board tells investors you failed to do what you promise, so you should go.

That's a fairly accurate analogy of what's going on with our government right now. I don't know if you know ANYTHING about the way politics really works here in America, but the President can't do much of anything if Congress isn't willing to support him. And how often does a Democratic President get the backing of a Republican Congress(or vice-versa, for that matter)?

To be fair, what we're going through is older than Bush, too. We're just feeling the effects of things that had their causes fifteen, twenty years ago, economically. The roots of the housing crisis reach back beyond Bush, and Wall Street's woes are easily a half-century or more in the making.

But it's far easier to ignore all that and blame it on whoever you don't like. Bush didn't start all that crap in the Middle East we're still dealing with now, any more than Obama started the economic garbage we're currently wading through.

... anyway. I bet you have $300 to spend on a new smartphone. And while a phone in and of itself IS a necessity in today's world, spending $600 on one(either up front or through the subsidy that is a contract) is NOT.

Don't try to sell the Vita short. Just because you don't feel you can afford it at its current price doesn't mean it's not WORTH it at said price. A lot of people don't seem to understand, but there IS a difference between the two.

chrisarsenalsavart4263d ago (Edited 4263d ago )

Playstation needs to be saved of their own success.
110 million ps1+ 150 million ps2+77 million psp+ 66 million ps3 =
413 million machine sold in 17 years

Does this looks like any sony hardware needs saving?
You so called pro gaming websites should at least learn a bit about gaming history.
freaking trolls!

Kaylith4263d ago

It's not trolling when the Vita has statistically proven that it's not selling anywhere near what Sony had predicted for it.

Blankman854263d ago

Key word here is VITA though. Not playstation. Also "success" sometimes comes at a price, in ps3's case billions in losses. It single handedly burned through the profit from ps1 and ps2 eras.

Loved his English accent. But as an assassin, he was an out n out pirate.

FlexLuger3101d ago (Edited 3101d ago )

Ezio! Plus leonardo davinci made all his fancy killing gear. Nuff said.

EDIT: And Ezio was the best dressed too. They nailed that italian flair with his outfit. Most stylish assisn too, then!

GigawattConduit3101d ago

Man, I would love a film of Ezio and da Vinci together, just on adventures. They're the perfect duo.

guitarded773101d ago

Ezio is the bestest assassinz. The other characters don't even compare. Conner was the worst.

PerfidiousSinn3101d ago

Ezio has a half-cape. He wins by default.

GigawattConduit3101d ago

The secret to the awesomeness of the Assassins has finally been revealed!

Relientk773101d ago (Edited 3101d ago )

Ezio

Hands down and he has the coolest full name

Ezio Auditore da Firenze

GigawattConduit3101d ago

Pretty sure that's Italian for "I'M THE BEST AND I CONQUER ALL OF YOU"

Heyxyz3101d ago

Best: Ezio!

Worst: The one from Unity (he was so bad I forgot his name).

GigawattConduit3101d ago

Hey, he wasn't that bland! His name was Brad, jeez.

Castlevania3101d ago

Arno. He was kinda bland (or so people say).

Mystogan3101d ago

Nah the worst was Ratuhnkahetun AKA Connor.

Dark_Overlord3100d ago

Totally agree, I hate AC3 due to him. How could they create such an unlikable character :/ I preferred Haytham to him.
