Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale Public Beta Will Start In Early October

DualShock Nexus: Today Sony officially announced a public beta for Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale in the fall but didn't say when it would take place exactly. The private beta a lucky handful of players got to participate in will continue from now until early October. Once the private beta is finished is probably when the public beta will begin for the rest of us.

Good luck getting into the beta everyone!

geeez so they won't be sending emails with beta codes to people anymore?

I wanna get in before that lol

Nvm should of read the article lol. Well I hope I get in to the private beta but its hard because every time I check FB the code is already taken!

I've heard from several people that the roster is still sort of a bummer with a lack of some key characters...

But this is definatley one of my most wanted games!

smashcrashbash4283d ago (Edited 4283d ago )

Yeah I suppose 'key' characters is a matter of opinion.Parapper, Sir Dan, Spike,Sly,Ratchet and Jak is all I really need. Anyone who thought Square and Activision would share any of their characters for peanuts are delusional.

@ Omar91. Maybe. Maybe I am being too negative. We haven't gotten the whole roster yet and I am sure there is still room for more. But I refuse to be disappointed seeing that other characters can still come later for DLC. Even if we don't get Crash and Spyro now we could still get them later. I am sure Superbot would have added Spyro and Crash in a heart beat if they belonged to them.

Omar914283d ago

I honestly have not given hope. I think Activision and Square gave sony at least something.

Reverent4283d ago

I agree, as stubborn as Square ans Acrivision are, I think Sony might be able to get a character or two out of them. As for me, Cole Macgrath was the major character I was hoping for in this game. Now that we've got him, I'm happy:)

-Alpha4283d ago

Well, the major players like Crash, Spyro, Wanderer, and Cloud are missing, but it's not all up to Sony. I still think we will see them as DLC since Activision would love to make a profit off of this.

DigitalRaptor4283d ago (Edited 4283d ago )

Sony has control of the Shadow of the Colossus IP, so it's a given that the lead character (it's Wander btw) from one of the most iconic & beloved PS2 games would be included. I'm more excited about the Colossus stage than fighting as Wander though.

I wonder if Amaterasu will be in there since she was also in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. They might allow it though, since it would help push Okami HD on PSN.

I'm excited to see some Sega characters in there such as Kazuma Kiryu (Yakuza) and hopefully even Sonic with Tails and Knuckles as sprites, and a Dr. Robotnik stage. That would be great.

Some other realistic hopefuls: James Bond (I heard he was gonna be in there), Max Payne (with bullet-time ability), Leon Kennedy (RE4 version), Jade and Pey'j (Beyond Good & Evil), Ico & Yorda, Katamari stage, Hale & Chimera (Resistance), Old Snake (with Big Boss and Young Snake skins), Prince of Persia (original trilogy).

-Alpha4283d ago

I was certain that Plus members would be getting in this month, October seems to far away, especially since the current private beta is very small and going all the way to October itself (and it wouldn't make sense to keep such a small limited beta for that long)

WeskerChildReborned4283d ago

I'm not sure if the beta we're getting this month is the Playstation All Stars beta.

I wish it's either PSABR or God of war Ascension beta.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Launched 10 Years Too Early

Though PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a bit of a cult classic, it could have been a big hit if it launched in 2022 instead of 2012.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69520d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop520d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard520d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi520d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin520d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus527d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer526d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
