What does Battlefield 4′s announcement mean?

With the recent announcement of Battlefield 4, is it finally time to admit that EA is milking the franchise into the ground in an effort to compete with Call Of Duty?

It means that BF4 is being made.

Patriots_Pride4286d ago

It means that EA is trying to keep up with Activisons annual COD release.

Seriously am I the only one who thinks this game was announced too early?

"It means that EA is trying to keep up with Activisions Annual COD release."

Which EA said they weren't gonna do annually, because of that engine, and BattleFields complex gameplay nature.

EA stole the thunder of any of Medal Of Honors potential hype with a BF4 announcement, brung back the hype for MOH with a early access beta for BF4. When the REAL hype is behind BF4.

So they're promoting BF4 ALREADY through MOH. And basically making MOH look like a promo for a bigger game.

"Pre-Order MOH for BF4 beta first." Just an example. Honestly MOH is is already irrelevant thanks to an extremely early BF4 announcement.

So what it means is EA went back on there word with the BF series.

frankboy20124285d ago

Your rite their bud,i know its a business but i think they will eventually run it into the ground.I thought it would'nt of been released til next gen tbh and with the sales success of bf3 EA are capitalizing on that.I love battlefield but dice have definately signed their life away to EA.

DeadlyFire4285d ago

Its not really announced early. Games get announced 2-3 years out all the time. You just have to dig to find out most of the time.

What this does mean though is that EA has a rotation to go through. At least its not Battlefield/Battlefield all the time. Although Bad Company, 2142, or 1942 revisit is more than welcomed by fans. How will EA throw them into the mix. If their talk is of Sci-Fi as the future why is Battlefield 4 not called 2143? I am wondering.

Tonester9254285d ago

I don't know why every one is saying that BF is going to be released annually.

There was no release date announced and the Beta was to be playable Fall 2013. Which I think will change as the time grows near.

That doesn't mean that it will release soon after as well.

And what's up with all this COD commotion? Are you guys intimidated by Activision or something. Everytime I come to a Battlefield article, Call of Duty is brought up. Two completely different games.

I guess it's just the movement and bandwagon conversation at the moment.

alousow4286d ago

It means im Buying it. The only way BF can compete with COD is by releasing BF games each year thats the only way.

AngelicIceDiamond4285d ago (Edited 4285d ago )

Yeah and destroy quality oft he BF series to. EA is slowly trying to get greedy with that annual holiday market like Activision.

I saw this coming, a "gem" like BF will end up being a a degraded half of a game like cod. That holiday season is just too tempting for any publishers, now EA is officially victim of it. They're sacrafice "Quality" over sales. Join the club EA

unchartedxplorer4285d ago

I don't want BF to be competing with cod. It's ruining the BF series and it's ruining the games industry.

NovusTerminus4286d ago

Another shooter to saturate the market and slowly kill off innovation in gaming?

pat_11_54286d ago

I think it means that there is another battlefield on the way. That is all.

Tapioca Cold4285d ago

It means Battlefield 4 is coming.

SheenuTheLegend56d ago

all the games in the above list are bang on. this is the only reason we need backwards compatibility and physical presense of games for the upcoming future, no matter what.

Yi-Long57d ago

Honorable mention to the excellent Driveclub, one of the best racing games of all-time and one of my favourite games ever.

melons57d ago

yes! incredible rain effects; so good to drive along in rain with your Spotify playlist blaring

Skuletor57d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens5256d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

monkey60256d ago

I adored Driveclub and the Bike expansion. I also loved Motorstorm. Evolution shutting down was a crime

The Argument for Battlefield: Bad Company Remakes

With the franchise’s mainline entries failing to find their footing in recent years, now is the perfect time for a Battlefield: Bad Company remake.

Of course there is no counter argument. This is what fans of the franchise have wanted for years. This and/or BF Bad Company 2.

When asked why there hasn't been another Bad Company:

“There's one thing that lingers with Bad Company that we've been asking ourselves: What is it that the people really liked about Bad Company?" DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson told Eurogamer.

Troedsson says that he and his team can’t put their fingers on what it is that people loved about that branch of the brand. “It's hard for people to articulate what that is, which is actually hard for us,” he says. “It would be hard to remake something like that. Can we do it? Of course. We have our theories when it comes to the multiplayer."

I always activate the Black Weapon on BFV Solomon Islands for all the BC2 fans who hear/recognize it, thus starting the events of BC2 on BF5 :)

Derrrunnn. Derrrunnn.

Tody_ZA107d ago (Edited 107d ago )

What is so hard to understand for them?

Bad Company 2 is one of the best and most memorable games in the series because:
- It was class-based (duh)
- Heavy focus on squads
- Substance over map size or gimmicks
- Fantastic and realistic gun play
- Well designed maps
- Destructible environments (why has this been minimised so hard in the series? You could demolish buildings in bad company 2 with some well placed C4
- Great progression system and variety in play
- No stupid CoD imitations or focus on the store over the game
- It was *drumroll* incredibly good fun?
- It was unmistakably BATTLEFIELD

INMATEofARKHAM106d ago

Probably should add a fun campaign to the list.

I had no idea that Bad Company 2 was still running, and only now that I know, I want to jump on! 😥

SonyStyled131d ago

I was able to find games in the Vietnam dlc on ps3 the last week. There were articles on here about the server closure when it was announced in April

DaReapa131d ago

BF1943 is the only online MP game that I was genuinely interested in. Been playing since launch 14 years ago. Hate that I couldn't put in as much time to play as I'd hoped for during the final week.

Inverno130d ago

I got really into 43 when I bought Bf3, and preferred it. Everything that I disliked or found annoying about Bf3, wasn't an issue in 43. Too bad they never bothered releasing it on PS4 or PC.

1nsomniac130d ago (Edited 130d ago )

Dead Space 2...... I wasn't even aware that had multiplayer. Nevermind that it was apparently one of their best multiplayers!

anast130d ago

Once people stop buying micros, these companies close the doors.

Xenial130d ago

Dead Space 2 multiplayer had been hanging on for years - I'd boot my PS3 up to see some familiar names in lobbies. This will definitely be missed!
