USA Preorders Chart, 14 July 2012 - Black Ops 2 Climbs the Charts

Overview

There are no games in the top 20 to be in its final week before launch. As a reminder the Pro data is back up, which means that I am taking requests again for games outside the top 20.

The top four games have 200,000 or more pre-orders, the same as last week, and the top 11 has 100,000 or more pre-orders, down from 12 last week. Two games added 20,000 or more, the same as last week and four added 10,000 or more, down from six last week.

I'll be picking up MOH instead :)

JBSleek4287d ago

Instead? Why not pick up both great games?

Majin-vegeta4287d ago

Maybe he doesn't feel like wasting money on a game that always has the same crappy problems every year when it's released.

SPAM-FRITTER-1234287d ago

maybe because he doesn't want to see jet packs in the COD franchise. maybe he doesn't want call of halo.

IMO blops 2 will be just as bad as MW3

lastofgen4286d ago

maybe because cod has turned into a yearly crap fest and the devs tend to ignore the ps3 owners and have constant mods, hacks, and lag fests in their games. moh, imo, is definitely the better buy here.

Here we go again...

*sigh*

venom064287d ago

here we go again, but everyone is speaking the truth... unfortunately, there's going to be millions of sheeple to pick up the next CoD game, and the 2-3 months later, be complaining loud as hell about this perk, or that map design, or this lag compensation, or that spawn system. Its the same garbage crap released every year, but sheeple still buy it only to nerd rage about it later. Unbelievable...

USA: NCAA 2013
EU: LONDON 2012

I still find it odd that virtual replications of physical activity have become such a definative part of one of the least active "sports" ever.

I do wonder if motion controlled gaming has had any impact on the sales of these games or overall health of this audience.

Anyway, glad to see EU supporting the Olympics so heavily, it can be quite a lifechanging experience for some younger kids.

Ulf4287d ago

The sheeple buying BO2 offend me. Treyarch CODs suck, sheeple... when will you learn?

BelieveinGhosts4286d ago (Edited 4286d ago )

Treyarch made the best COD in my opinion.
World at War had everything: Great Graphics, Great Sound,Great kill stricks which are not OP like MW 2 and 3,Great gameplay, More Hard core than MW 1,2,3 because each weapon felt different and i loved using the Mosin Nagant bolt action rifle with bayonet because it takes more skill. And offcourse COD WAW also introduced Zombies

The only bad point about WAW is the hackers, glitchers and cheats

lastofgen4286d ago

treyarch can only find success because they are working with the engine and infrastructure so greatly put forth and built by infinity ward. treyarch weren't the ones who had to break sweat and blood to make the engine so, in effect, they could concentrate on other aspects of the game and put more time toward those. iw had to concentrate on the engine and the game aspects.

Whore_Mouth4287d ago

What about this story qualifies it as a rumor?

lastofgen4286d ago

because it's an estimate. that's what vgchartz is known for. and they usually get their estimates wrong by a few thousand or more.

Whore_Mouth4286d ago

That just sounds like bad math, not a rumor.

Estimations are just math for people that don't know how to carry a 1. Rumors are stories that people "hear", but are not able or unwilling to produce a credible source.

Xbox $70 billion bet paid out

fr0sty248d ago

Guess that's what happens when there's no good new games to play...

4Sh0w248d ago (Edited 248d ago )

Well regardless of exclusives, or whatever else there is to play on Xbox or ps, CoD has has still been the top selling game on ps platform since forever also.....so no surprise that the most popular game franchise on any console could easily have a revival due to servers coming back online...this is just credit to xbox backwards compatibility & thats good thing for Xbox gamers.

wiz7191248d ago

@Frosty orrrr maybe it’s a breath of fresh air to be able to go back to the peak of the series .. and it’s beem great lol

mkis007248d ago

It's going to take 10 years for xbox to generate that much profit...

Rhythmattic247d ago

Why worry when they have OS, Server and Background Data in their hands...
Gaming is just the small piece, at the top left in a few K piece jigsaw.

EasilyTheBest247d ago

If you buy a house with cash for 1 million dollars you still own the house. Microsoft don't need to make the money back.

Rhythmattic245d ago

But its not money back, its about how it goes missing.

jznrpg248d ago

Shooters is what Xbox people play most of the time and that’s about it by the numbers and sales of games.

shinoff2183248d ago

Atkeast older gamers nostalgia is good. Jeez.

Jin_Sakai248d ago

Mostly because the new CoD games are garbage. The old games were much better.

Rutaprkl247d ago

Agree 100%. Cod 4, WaW, Black ops 1 & 2, those were the days.

Rhythmattic247d ago

For MP, Unreal tournament , QIII Arena (loved the UT mod) FTW!

RaidenBlack247d ago

Unreal Tournament and Quake III were simply amazing ... CoD's and CoD-likes' rise killed the arena shooter popularity ...
Unreal Tournament 2004 is my favorite in the series.
Didn't enjoy Unreal Tournament III, Quake Champions that much.
Too bad Epic cancelled Unreal Tournament 2014 becoz of Fortnite

Rhythmattic247d ago (Edited 247d ago )

I got hooked on the QIII Urban Terror mod (and my work colleagues I introduced them to)... LAN Sessions at the closing of the doors at work, into the night , sinking beers and eating pizza..... Good times.

thesoftware730248d ago

Wow, good games never get old I guess.

CoD will always be a beast of a franchise, and how awesome is it that you can just boot it up or pop it into your Xbox and play, MS BC is really a neat feature.

CrimsonWing69248d ago

Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.

1Victor247d ago

@crimson:” Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.”
I agree it’s worthy at the start of the generation when there’s few new generation games but halfway through the generation it’s not a feature.
Now it’s good that this game is finding a renewed life for its fan but it shows a mayor flaw in new games release when a close decade old game is toppling the charts

CrimsonWing69247d ago

I don't know if I understand what you mean. It's a feature regardless of the time into the generation.

Let's take Armored Core 6 for example. Let's say I'm interested in checking out the previous Armored Core games, sure would be nice if I could play them on my current-gen console.

We're about 3 years into current-gen and old games are hitting in the top 5 for sales charts in the month.

I do get where you're coming from with older games possibly being better than the newer games, but the feature stays the feature. I can only speak for myself, but when there's a lull in game releases or nothing great is out, I like to go back to old titles. It's just nice to not have to have a bunch of consoles out to do so.

I think moving forward it'll be less and less of an issue as like with the PS5 you can access most all of the PS4 games, but I like going back to PS1 and PS2. Would be awesome to kind of make backwards compatibility a prioritized feature moving forward. Hell, Sony was the first to implement it.
