Call of Duty’s Hardcore Mode Is Only Played by Talentless Morons

There’s an annoying cross section of CoD fanatics who incessantly drone on about Hardcore Mode being the ultimate Call of Duty experience. If you’re even tangentially familiar with the franchise, you’ve undoubtedly run across a few of these idiots.

Honestly, it's EZ mode if you're a competent player. My biggest problem with Call of Duty is not winning gun fights where I have the clear advantage. Whether it's lag or weapon balance, it's not a good feeling losing a gunfight where you obviously had the drop on the other guy. The problem with Hardcore mode is, there is no competitive balance. It seems like the guys who play are they guys who have problems being consistent in the normal modes. They suck, period. If you suck at Call of Duty, hardcore more wont make you better at the game.

Add to that the fact that you should ideally shoot before ADS'ing to get a bullet in prior to aiming properly, and then lag compensation you soon eat up your bullets.

Since when did 1 bullet guarantee a kill? Shot in the arm and you instantly die in hardcore. SAS training (The real life verson -.-)recommends that you aim for the head with your side arm or always shoot twice in the chest. This strategy should kill your target or prevent any resistance from him.

Hardcore mode is really the only mode I can stand anymore when I play cod unless I play with my buddies. The lag still kills this game to this day. Billion dollar franchise and they still won't use dedicated servers.

i play hardcore cuz i like it when ppl aren't wearing thick armored vests. you kill someone easier but you also get killed easier. it determines who is REALLY quicker and not who can keep the games Auto-Aim aimed on the enemy the longest. but dont ever talk about realism and cod those two words dont go together. i also hate cheesey ppl, i'll run around with just throwing knifes or just a pistol b4 i give myself any kind of advantage.

Hardcore seems to easy when you just camp. Hell even someone finds a good enough camp spot where their is only 1 way someone can get you, you could basically live the whole game. Yea ik it's to be tactical but people still shouldn't camp in the same spot for the whole game, i say people should tactical camp, camp in a spot for a few seconds then move out.

Admittedly I play COD quite a bit and what I hate most about it is the fact that if you kill someone, no matter how you play or what weapon you use, you are always branded a "camper" or a "noob". I honestly believe that most people don't even know what a "camper or a "noob" is. I run around a corner, kill somebody and all I hear is "F*cking camper". It really grinds my gears.

More on topic, I don't play hardcore because I think it is even more unfair than the normal modes. Lately I've been playing 2 v 2 with my friend quite a lot and love it. Although it's really annoying how many teams just leave if you are beating them.

I just want another Raven Shield. I played hardcore (when I still played CoD) because I like how you couldn't just run through a hale of bullets and still live. When I put one or two rounds in someone they should go down. It also slows the pace down from an arcade style and forces you to play more tactically if you want to win.

HardCore is dumb on COD to me. Its so easy. Run around with a MK14,.44magnum, or a XM-25 and you win all one shot kills to the toe why play something so easy? I don't even like to play pubs like that anymore I just mess around and play scrims when I hope on MW3.

**sigh**... Why is it so many people get so flippin uptight about video games? If you enjoy playing shooters that have a more arcade feel, and you aren't dying in one hit then the regular mode is for you. If you don't like the fact that it takes more than 2 bullets to take someone down then Hardcore mode is for you. Neither mode is the "best" mode...they are just modes of game play that offer a slightly different experience.

Play what you like to play and don't get all caught up in trying to tell other people how they need to play.

It's no different from any other hobby. The more it means to you, the more critical even the smaller stuff becomes.

Car enthusiasts make a big deal over cosmetic differences between years of the same model. Is there something wrong with that? They argue over which year looked better, which engine/transmission package is superior, what brands are better. There's a vast difference between being a car enthusiast who invests a lot of money into it and trying to mold it to how they like it as opposed to a game platform that pumps out 10 million units per year, plays the same as all the others and has virtually most of the same games that are available on other platforms.

Console fanboys are indeed a breed of their own and should be locked away and isolated from regular society.

What amazes me is how consumed some people are in what other people seem to enjoy. People love Call of Duty, get over it. They have a great formula that seems to gel with millions and millions of people per year. If there were only a dozen or so games that come out per year then yes, there would be reason to complain. That's not the case, there are hundreds of games per year and a whole bunch of platforms to play these games on. Don't like the series then move on and talk about stuff you are interested in.

As for hardcore mode, don't play it. Play another mode instead. If people don't play that mode they will likely either drop it or fine-tune it.

What you're referring to is only one type of car enthusiast: those that like to customize their vehicle and make it their own. These people like to race their cars, both legally and illegally, or just fix them up for show, like in the lowrider scene.

There's also a completely different group that like things as original as possible; you'll find such people populating the spectators/sellers at places like the Barett-Jackson auto show, the world's largest car auction. In a place like that, the difference between authentic and replacement parts can mean thousands of dollars of difference in the value of a car.

Even the most mundane daily drivers that were nothing special have fanbases; the original Beetle is a classic in every sense of the word, and millions love it. More of that car has come off assembly lines than any other in the world, though, so I guess it can't have fans...

Car enthusiasts- and I'm one of them, so I guess I should know- are LITERALLY NO DIFFERENT from enthusiasts in ANY other hobby. That you believe otherwise tells of your dedication, or lack thereof.

I always stayed away from Hardcore because of the fact that teammates can kill you. Everything else about it is pretty appealing to me. I like a nice Ground war in Black ops. Big teams, switched maps, and a few beginners won't ruin the match for you...usually.

Just an FYI I do believe hardcore now sports "richocet" Which basically means if you try and shoot a teammate it comes back and hits you instead. I don't know if that is for all hardcore modes or just a certain set but I definitely liked that friendly fire wasn't killing me. On the flip side... it sucks when someone runs in front of your shot and you get knicked because of it.

It doesn't make the guns the same, it makes the advantages of some guns less beneficial.

This is because the time-to-kill is reduced meaning less reaction time from the other player and kind of negates the benefit of a high rate of fire gun.

I used to play HC mode but after playing regular, I can't go back. People camp non-stop in HC mode and you die even if you get shot in the toe. Add in the fact that people just pick a gun with a large mag and spray their ways to kills and you have enough reason why i'll never go back. I haven't even mentioned the grenade spamming and noobtubes in HC mode.

Like the author says, it doesn't take much skill to play HC. All people do is camp and spray. Regular mode requires you to have MUCH better aim or else you won't kill people. You have to be able to hit moving targets for multiple hits- that's why it's harder and thus, requires more skill.

You can argue that it isn't very realistic but that's not what COD is going for.

I haven't played MW3 hardcore in a while in fact I haven't played MW3 in a while but all you have to do is if you know that someone is camping just cook a grenade and throw. Also just run UAV and Tactical vest that let you know where everybody is and if an enemy looks at you the wrong way you won't die instantly. It may seem like a noob set up but when the only luck you have in MW3 is bad luck you need all the help you can get.

Lame article. I play hardcore from time to time and none of the list applies to me.

I do see a lot of RPG action, but for the most part I find it more enjoyable and objective-orientated than those playing the standard playlists. A lot less people wandering past Dom points for example.

As for using Blind Eye, the only people that complain about people using Blind Eye are the people p'd off that their Attack Helicopter isn't killing anyone or that no red squares come up on their Predator missile.

If you want to try and die as little as possible - and everyone should want to do this - you pick Blind Eye to avoid those kill streak deaths.

Why is the author of this article worried that not all gamers like the same things? I don't mind playing either mode but given the choice I tend to gravtiate towards hardcore mode. The reason is that the maps are small enough that camping isn't such a big deal and there is always a way to get to a camper and take them out. In non hardcore games you just get the kids bunny hopping around, leaping around corners because they know they can take a few hits and then bunny hop away again. Hardcore mode does at least push players into playing the game in a more realistic way and it doesn't totally balance out all the weapons as the author of the article might suggest.

With so many gamers playing CoD, BF3 etc just enjoy your own game/mode and don't worry about what the other players want to play.

I've been playing HC deathmatch since the first MW and through all the iterations since. The unrealistic weapon power in regular dm is a joke. Case in point. No body armor in the world will stop a 50 cal round. If the guy doesn't go down in one shot, the game is severely unbalance. Especially when a shotgun with range will take down anyone from a 100 yards...

In HC DM, you need to use tactics to be successful. Not run around like a chicken with its head cut off blasting shotgun rounds everywhere. The keys to HC, check your corners, use flash bangs, cover each others backs, and communicate. If you are not telling your team where you got killed, you are useless.

I think the bigger issue here, is that the way a game plays isn’t quite how it used to be. Back in the days of COD4 there didn’t seem to be as many ‘other’ balancing programs running during the game, or at least the stats weren’t the same.

You used to be able to play COD4 on hardcore the same way you can now play MW3 standard, without the game persistently trying to balance kills for the newer or less talented players. IW and Treyarch have made no effort to hide this happens and it has gotten worse as they have tried to build profits by keeping people interested.

Hardcore gamers aren’t campers. Certain people are – the same as always. Likely those who stick around even when their skill levels are poor, which is just as the developers made it.

Hardcore mode is the only way I'll play COD, cause unlike most games, COD is a P2P connection, and it shows when you put a whole clip into someone and then they just magically dissapear and somehow managed to get behind you and have you killed in a fraction of a second. Kill cam after kill cam always proves it. I thought I was just crazy, but no, hardcore mode you kill someone as long as you get a hit marker.

I play Hardcore all the time with the exception of clan ops. I don't have a tube on ANY classes, I have Blind Eye for one of my six classes. The rest are scavenger or slight of hand. The teams I play with are ALWAYS defending since we only play Hardcore Domination. And in my experience of playing Core TDM, I have to run around to actually find the other teams because of campers. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying Core is for the weak since I really like Drop Zone or Team Defender. But in this day of players bragging about using auto aim controllers, I will take Hardcore mode so that I have a better chance against the players who need to mod to make a kill.
At the end of the day, it's just a game and the real world doesn't care. For this "writer" to make malleable accusations is petty.

I thought the whole Call of Duty multiplayer experience is based around people who have no talent. Isn't that why you have aim assist and quick scoping and care packages and duel wielded shot guns that can shoot as far as sniper rifles? And XP points that buy you better weapons so you can feel like a bad-ass just because you've played the game longer than others (i.e. have no social life)? Of course I may be mistaken...

hardcore and core are the same if you really think about it. If you are bad at finishing people off and good at at getting those first shots on people and staying alive go for harcore its your mode. Core if your not very good at staying alive but good at finishing off people core is your mode. i play both and what i find harder is hardcore at times becuase if you are trying to get a nuke or killstreaks its harder in hardcore so think about it next time you play.
