There seems to be a veritable lack of innovative titles with offline multiplayer capabilities in today's gaming market. Considering the average console can support four players at once, what the hell were game developers thinking?!

This is a rarity ever since Next-Gen released. I wish a lot of games that I own were couch co-op games.

TopDudeMan4292d ago

Yeah, it's a shame, but it is nice being able to do multiplayer without having to share a screen with someone.

I have a big family and it sucks when you have to buy two of each game just so you can play online with each other.

It's true. Splitscreen multiplayer is one of the reasons I prefer my PS3 over my PC when it comes to games. People like to make fun of the Wii but at least most of it's games kept this feature.

So I love how this article ignores the fact that because this gen is so graphic intense, that it is more a technical issue than a social one. Most offline multiplayer are single screen because it has become to difficult to render both screens, let alone 3 or 4, at the same time. At least without taking a huge graphical hit. Look at Conduit 2 or Uncharted 3 to see how worse the graphics are in split screen compared to single player.

Look at Splinter Cell Conviction, for the 360. They managed to make splitscreen co-op and the game still looked and played fantastic while doing so. Then there's Halo, a game that allowed up to four people, and while graphics took small hits, the game still rocked when it came to playing with your buddies. I'm just saying any little drawback would probably be worth it considering that such a feature is far from ignored among the gaming community. I, for one, freak out every time a good game comes out that I can actually play with my brother or sister.

Hey Ubi, here's a gun, don't shoot yourself in the foot.

*Ubi takes gun, aims at foot, empties clip*

At this point, only dummies have any hope left for Ubi-junk games.

Every industry has these issues

Some companies I’ve worked for were great and some were toxic as hell (UPS when I was a teenager was extremely toxic and I have heard it still is) It all starts at the top. They either hold people accountable , set standards and treat people with respect or the crap rolls downhill.
