Nintendo Virtual Boy

Also notice the prices of 3 of the consoles on the list, very high

PoSTedUP4301d ago

in regards to Apple's Pippin "This system is the only thing I can consider to have been 'ahead of its time' and obsolete at the same time." lmao. never even herd of that thing. seems like if they went strictly games they could have been competing with everyone right now.

the first few years of xbox360, honestly, not trolling, i like my 360 enough

54% failure rate is a record, i went through 4 of them, according to many sources, in 2009 it was still 35% or more

i have a new model now and it seems fine

never paid a cent for the replacements either, never shipped it in, just went to bestbuy and told the employee to give me a new one.

ChunkyLover534301d ago

How the heck can you compare the Xbox 360 with the likes of the consoles on this list? The consoles on this list are just putrid.

The Xbox 360 is one of the best all time consoles.

Reverent4301d ago

Except for the failure rate... And Microsoft's greedy method of making extra money through online subscriptions. Otherwise, yeah, it's a pretty great system.

ChunkyLover534301d ago (Edited 4301d ago )

@Reverent

So Microsoft is greedy and no other company is?
This site is so laughable sometimes, I get a ton of disagrees for saying the Xbox 360 is one of the best consoles ever made. The Xbox 360 is always top 10 in best consoles on everyone's list, so keep the hate up.

If this were 2006 or early 2007 someone could say something about failure rates, the Elites that came out had a very successful run and the Xbox 360s is probably the safest console on the market today.

The Xbox 360 has sold a ton of units and has given us some of the best games of this or any generation, the fact that people are still stuck in 2006 is ridiculous. Microsoft has successfully built their brand from the ground up and have cemented themselves into a real contender, if the Xbox 360 were a bad console, like the ones on this horrid list, it wouldn't be sitting where it is today, it wouldn't have been the number one world wide console of 2011 and it certainly wouldn't have lasted seven years.

Forza_is_King4301d ago

There is no proof other than a random poll made by a website that Sony loyalists use to discredit the 360. There was no proof that those who voted, which was a very small market segment, we're actual 360 owners.

Only the ignorant use the 54% failure rate argument.

ShaunCameron4301d ago

Exactly. For the record the XBox 360's failure rate is 23.7%. And I think Sony loyalists are the last people who should be criticizing any console-manufacturer for high failure rates, especially when the PS1 and PS2 had failure rates that makes the 360 look like the Super NES in terms of hardware reliability.

omarzy4301d ago

These launch prices are ridiculous.

hazelamy4301d ago

the funny thing is, i'd love to try the virtual boy at least once.

TiM_FeRNo4301d ago

Unless you know a good optometrist, I'd advise against it.

Well before The Last of Us and Uncharted, Naughty Dog made...a Mortal Kombat clone? With White Zombie?!

For some reason, I have fond memories of that game on 3DO.
I remember the Bootup sequences so well kicking up with White Zombies'sThunderkiss 65 and the Naughty dog flag logo.

The game was pure crap but it was good pure crap :)
And the zooming lava pit fatality was awesome.

PS. lol just watched the whole intro on the article and missed mentioning the Universal Interactive logo before still my memory was spot on lol.

Neonridr547d ago

it was pretty over the top, but ultimately a bad game. But one of those it's so bad it's worth experiencing sort of titles ;)

RetroCaptainSteve546d ago

It's just fascinating to check it out now in the face of the company's more stellar efforts. Like...you gotta start somewhere.

Neonridr546d ago

@RetroCaptainSteve - for sure, it's always fun seeing how certain companies started out. Much like Blizzard starting with old titles like Rock n' Roll Racing or the Lost Vikings back on the SNES. Granted those old titles were actually good though :P

CR7JUVE1897547d ago

Are you kidding? I remember when I bought it. Enough said about that.

The main reason I wanted a 3DO back in the 90's but still haven't got one

How has this article missed out Sega's Dreamcast and Nintendo's Wii U, two consoles that were actually superb devices in their own right, but were seen as failed due to lacklustre sales at the time of release?

Knightofelemia1578d ago

Wonder how long before Stadia appears on the list surprised the Ngage is not on that list

william_cade1578d ago (Edited 1578d ago )

I enjoy these kinds of articles.

Talk about a blast to the past.......I remember trying the virtual boy at Toy R Us and it was cool but I did feel slightly disoriented afterwards......good article.
