READ DEAD REDEMPTION 3

Urgh...was Red Dead Revolver that forgettable

Theres just one thing with Red Dead 3 I don't want to see...I don't want to play as Jack. I hated that kid.

<spoiler>

I really wanted to see a new DLC for Red Dead where John lives so we could play as him in the next game. For me, as sad as it was, I just couldn't believe someone like John would sacrafice himself when knowing what Edgar Ross and Archer Fordham were like how did he know 100% that they wen't going to go after Abbi and Jack still.

They should of done a DLC where the government comes early for John but he's not there and kill Abbi and Jack for not telling them where he is. John then becomes a broken man and decides that with nothing to loose he will get revenge on the two corrupt agents with the help of the characters we've met throughout the game. John then lives the life of an outlaw at the end and Bonnie becomes closer to him....we all know she wanted him, hell I wanted him to go with her. Would of been like the Outlaw Josey Wales DLC

dirigiblebill4299d ago

I'd go for a prequel, myself. The trouble is, RDR is right on the boundary between Wild West times and the modern age. Be nice to play an origin story of some kind.

Also, more B-movie add-ons! Undead Nightmare was amazing.

guitarded774299d ago

I'd go for a prequel. Red Dead Redemption was awesome.

@ VanillaBear
Yeah, Red Dead Revolver really was forgettable compared to Red Dead Redemption. Oh, and Jack was annoying as hell. If it's not John Marston or someone of the like, I don't know that it will be as good.

Oh_Yeah4298d ago (Edited 4298d ago )

Play as john marstons step dad. Who was one of the asians to come here during the gold rush who also knows kung fu. John marstons real dad was this guys best friend, they found millions in gold but then they were robbed, captured & enslaved by bandits who started up a mid western gladiator style colloseum with there riches...they had to fight with pitchforks, shovels, rakes etc. the loser gets finished off by gun....they were the best gladiator cowboys...then one day they had to face one another. The asain guy won, john marstons real dad said take care of my wife and son with his last words. The asain guy was set free and now wants revenge on this whole bandit ring using a mix of kung fu he learned from ip man and his shooting skills....sounds good to me lmao i should be a story writer for games. shit sounds awesome

Wenis4298d ago

It wouldn't be RDR 3.. there was only 1 RDR so far, but 2 'read deads'.

ZoyosJD4299d ago

"Red Dead Rebellion" is what ive heard for the third games name.

Prequel or otherwise, I can't wait to see what they produce.

Coogi4299d ago

Could it not be just a new game in general? Like a new character? I'm thinking it gonna be like in the 1870s or 80s. 20-30 years before but the story not even be related to John, just straight new and be able to SWIM?!

Or could be like 1920 or so when it comes to a end to the real wild west?

YodaCracker4298d ago

You don't actually believe those fake "leaked" documents that are coming out all the time, do you? Rebellion is a fake title.

SnotyTheRocket4298d ago (Edited 4298d ago )

Yeah, I was just about to say, It's not going to be called RDR2. I can't wait unil some type of announcment or teaser trailer/poster.

Kran4299d ago

You're saying Red Dead Redemption 3 as if the last game was Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Revolver
Red Dead Redemption

Probably will be something like:

Red Dead Revenge or something.

I wouldn't even be surprised if the next game told the story of John Marston as a bandit and how it all fell apart.

user54670074299d ago (Edited 4299d ago )

Yet if he inserted his own title for Red Dead 3 then it would seem silly since we don't actually know what it will be called.

To call it Red Dead Redemption 3 implies that it's the third game in the Red Dead franchise. I think thats his point

Kran4299d ago

@MikeCosgrove

Then just call it Red Dead 3 to avoid confusion.

user54670074299d ago

I would play that DLC that sounds like a much better ending for a game like Red Dead Remdeption.

Johm Marston finally finds out in the end that no matter how hard you try to find remdeption you will always be the person you were in the past...an outlaw.

Nimblest-Assassin4298d ago

I guess it was designed to be a bitter sweet ending. Even though you know John became a better man, and tried his hardest to shield his family away from that life... he just couldn't escape his past

The whole idea of red deads philosophy is the final story achievement/trophy Nature VS Nuture.... when Jack killed Ross was it because of how he was raised... or is it who he is supposed to be.

Many players played as a good guy, rather than an outlaw, because thats who they wanted him to be

I liked the ending, I thought it was very well done... with Jack taking revenge

But it sucked that you were stuck playing the rest of the game as him

Xof4298d ago

Er... no. Not even close.

Red Dead Redemption was -about- John overcoming his past. It was about him -redeeming- himself. What, you think they just chose that title randomly? Pay attention to the story.

You can't find redemption by running away from past deeds (which is exactly what John was doing prior to the game)... you can only find it by confronting that past.

Which, you know, is the plot of the game.

Not to mention all the stuff with that one god/angel/thing stranger.

The whole point of RDR is that you've got this guy with a nasty, despicable past, who recognizes his "sin" and runs away from it... only to be drawn back in against his will. The trials he faces forge him into a better man, and redeem most of his past sins. By dying at the end, he is given the chance to be FULLY redeemed... by God.

That was his final "test" so to speak. John Marston could have lived had he chosen to, but instead he chose to die--he committed the final, ultimate act of self-sacrifice and by doing so, erased his past evildoings.

Nimblest-Assassin4298d ago

Well your red dead 3 arguement is kind of invalid

Red dead redemption was a spiritual successor to red dead revolver.... its kind of like calling starhawk Warhawk 3.... it doesn't work

So it would be the third game with red dead in it, but it will be a sequel to redemption

And if it is true, i won't just throw money at the screen.... I will chuck my entire wallet at it

Heavenly King4298d ago

It would actually be Red Dead Redemption 2, because the first one did not had REDEMPTION IN THE NAME.

So, this would be the third game on the Red Dead series, but the 2nd Redemption game, if it ends up being called like that.

RDR sequel and Bully sequel would be amazing.

SKUD4298d ago

I agree. To many frame rate issues during my play through on the xbox. This also opens the doors to RDR mods. Do want.

Dovahkiin4298d ago

They have to... They missed out on a huge profit last time.

deletingthis346753344299d ago

Getting sick of people calling the next game Red Dead Redemption 2. Fun fact for everyone, RDR IS THE SECOND GAME! Its predecessor released on Xbox and PS2. Holy shit, didn't you know that?

Amplitude4299d ago

I disagreed because, even though you're right, it doesn't matter in any way at all lol

strange19864299d ago (Edited 4299d ago )

Quit buggin. Everybody knows what they mean when they say RDR2.

brish4299d ago

Games in a series don't always increment the number for the next game in the series.

For example:
Call of Duty (game 1)
Call of Duty 2 (game 2)
Call of Duty 3 (game 3)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (game 4)
Call of Duty: World at War (game 5)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (game 6)
Call of Duty: Black Ops (game 7)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (game 8)
Call of Duty: Black Ops II (game 9)

Another example is Final Fantasy.

3GenGames4298d ago

What happened to COD Finest hour? And Big Red One? And EU?!

Were you not playing games in the PS2 days or something?

jtenma4298d ago

@3GENGAMEs

You just owned yourself. COD 1 came out BEFORE BIG RED. So he would have had to.

brish4298d ago

@3GenGames

"What happened to COD Finest hour? And Big Red One? And EU?!"

I got the list of titles from a chart on here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

They didn't put Big Red One on the chart but they mention it later in on the page.

"Where you not playing games in the ps2 days or something?"

I was playing games on the PC. I've never owned a ps2.

optimus4298d ago (Edited 4298d ago )

@brish...I look at it the way activision wants everyone to look at it...as 2 separate games that no longer have anything to do with each other after cod 3... 2 separate developing teams producing 2 separate games. I'm still mad that activision hasn't dropped the cod moniker from 1 of them...

Read dead redemption doesn't tie into red dead revolver but it was and still is rockstar that developed it. They can easily tie both storylines together for the 3rd read dead and keep it consistent.

Nimblest-Assassin4298d ago

Fun fact:

Did you know that red dead redemption was the SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR to red dead revolver

Red dead redemption was set in the same time period, but had nothing to do with the previous games locations, characters, etc

Thats what seperates a sequel from a spinoff/spiritual successor

Heavenly King4298d ago

The game would actually be called Red Dead Redemption 2, because the first one did not had REDEMPTION IN THE NAME.

fan_of_gaming7d ago

The head of Nightdive Studios has posted that The Darkness is on their list of games they want to do, so hopefully something comes from that

Yi-Long8d ago

Little Big Planet 1 and 2 deserve a mention, IMO.

Good call on Motorstorm, a game released 2 gens ago but still looks and feels so good. Motorstorm 2 and Motorstorm RC were gems as well. They followed up the Motorstorm games with the brilliant Driveclub, which still manages to put modern racing games to shame. Imagine closing down a studio as talented as that ... (!) Incredible.

A little 'arcade-gem' back then was The Last Guy, a top down 'follow the leader' snake-like game where you had to find and lead survivors to safety during an alien invasion, on terrible looking 'Google-earth' maps. Graphics were poor, even back then, but would love that same gameplay with modern maps and graphics.

Street Fighter 4, once it finally had a full roster, was quite good, but it was always an ugly game, sadly. Imagine bringing that back while using the current SF6 engine.

fan_of_gaming7d ago

Good suggestions, I'd be in for
LittleBigPlanet
LittleBigPlanet 2
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
Motorstorm: RC

purple1017d ago

God damn I love motorstorm so much

At the time I had a low-mid range sony 40” tv, The latency to the controller was waaaay too high, would to play a modern version

In saying that later I got a 3d lg tv and playing the 3d motorstorm in my bedroom with the environment crumbling around the track, was something special, specially compared to what others were playing at the time, will always remember that

Skuletor7d ago

Some good choices here and Resistance: Fall of Man is my most wanted PS3 remaster/remake. Not sure about their claim it was Sony's answer to Gears of War though.

CrimsonWing697d ago

I’d rather have sequels than remakes. Look at Dead Space 1 Remake. Would’ve been cooler if we got a new entry and it failed with sales sealing the fate of a sequel rather than just replay the same game and it fail in sales and we never get a new entry.

Remakes are great for things like PS2 and earlier games to really get a crazy new graphical coat, but I think we should ease up on all these remakes and actually do sequels.

fan_of_gaming7d ago

Yeah for sure, sequels would be ideal. But in the current market environment where many big publishers are risk-averse, I'd rather get a remaster or remake that a developer can do on a budget that will be approved, rather than nothing for an IP.

Inverno7d ago

I rather they remaster and port over to PC and current gen all the games permanently stuck on PS360. Those games don't need remakes, they need to be given a chance to live again outside of their confined consoles and then give a few proper sequels. Like Sleeping Dogs, Motor Storm, LA Noir, should get another entry.

fan_of_gaming7d ago

Yeah I'd be fine with remasters of PS3 games too, they don't have to be remakes.

For just $6 you can play the Red Dead Redemption port on Xbox and PS5

Rockstar Games’ shiny new Red Dead Redemption port is now on GTA+, and you can play it while claiming some tasty GTA Online benefits.

Rockstar still strying to make GTA plus work
Should be $6 for the rdr game on sale not 6 bucks for a months playtime

Exvalos22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

I hear ya, 49.99 or whatever the price on that game is, is a bit stiff seeing as it's just a port.

anast22d ago

Why would anyone rent this game?

jznrpg22d ago

One of my favorite games from PS3 generation. I have the remaster as there was a buy 2 get 1 free deal a while back but the price they are charging for the port is way too high although not surprising at all.

OtterX37d ago

I still think this release was a big waste of time. I would have been a day 1 purchaser if they had redone the game w RDR2 graphics. I still own my PS3 copy, so don't see the point in picking this up if it's minimally improved.

CobraKai37d ago

I bought the game cheaper than the remaster on 360. There’s no reason in releasing the game at that price with so little improvements if any.

Profchaos37d ago

It's nice to have it as a handheld game I guess if you travel a lot but yes the ps5 release was a joke

kaos8937d ago

It plays at 60 fps on PS5 and a higher res if you value that.

OtterX37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Yea, PS3 graphics at 60fps and 4k doesn't warrant the price. It was severely disappointing considering they already created so many of the assets north of the San Luis River (New Austin) in RDR2 and could have reused a lot of things, or reworked things bc they are the same area at different times in a fairly close history. It's friggin' Rockstar - you know they have the money and resources to have done it.

jznrpg22d ago

I like that I can play the game on current generation console but it would have been nice if they did more to make it look better.

Profchaos37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

They should have released the game in its current state not the state it launched in. Obvious we all wanted this to be a expansion to rdr 2 given that the original map was already remade in the game lots of people though this was just going to be added in later as paid DLC.

Now the game runs at 4k 60 fps on ps5 and can be brought on sale it's actually worth playing.

At launch the game was priced far to high and was a ps360 era game that couldn't run at 60 fps.

I'm in no way a frame rate snob I defended games like tears of the kingdom in the past for being 30 fps experiences but rdr was a joke at launch
