What the ‘Assassin’s Creed 3′ Live-Action Trailer Says About Ubisoft and the British

Ubisoft has released a new live-action trailer for ‘Assassin’s Creed 3′ directed at its European audience. As stunning as it may be, its tone is distinctly unique from the marketing seen here in the United States.

It's directed at Europe and yets it still give off a pro American vibe to it...what the hell gives.

They should be showing the total opposite, they should be backing up what they've said in the past about Connor being netural and not trying to make one side look evil. This was their chance and they've failed to do that...again

AND THEN...Showing "RISE" as Connor has just slaghtered Redcoats taking from the Pro American E3 trailer.

This trailer just prooves that in AC3 the redcoats will be evil for the majority of the game and Connors main side will be the Americans. You can't say he's going to be on both sides and not show one single bit of footage of him doing a British mission.

I wouldn't be that arsed about this if Ubisoft wern't bloody cowards and just admitted it instead of filling gamers heads with lies to cover their arses but this type of marketing all because of greed is ridiculous. It's not about that British people are being killed for me...it's just the horrible lies and terrible marketing.

i agree with you. I personally don't mind it if all that Conner does is slaughter redcoats but what pisses me off is that Ubisoft insists that is not going to be the case and that he is neutral throughout the conflict. If that is so then why not show it? what is stopping them from making the exact same trailers only with him slaughtering Americans? It kind of makes you wonder.

My guess is that Ubisoft feels that this is a touchy issue that they have touched upon and so by showing the slaughtering of redcoats they are making Americans happy and by stating they are going to be neutral they are making the British happy.

IF that is the case then all they have done is gave ammo to the war that has ensued online over the trailers and Ubisoft's statement, which is a cowardly thing to do.

Show us Conner killing Americans and we can all go home. IF you do not want to show us that then explain to us why. It is that simple.

Our history as a nation is tarnished from the start. We got where we did by tyrannically suppressing other nations. The Brits that are depicted in this game are so far removed from those of today that it doesn't matter.
It's like Having a WWII game where someone says that it's wrong as it's all about killing Germans.
The game's no more anti-British than war games are anti-German.

Here is the thing. We know that the templars in Assassin's creed all control armies, armies that consist of men who simply follow orders. The templars control those armies.

The soldiers you killed in all AC's prior, all followed leaders in which you killed.

@Phantom, let's look at the facts. A war is determined a success or failure by the side reaching it pre-determined goal. America's goal was to expand and conquer Canada. Britain's goal was to stop the invaders. America failed to meet its goal. Britain did not. So who won?

That of course doesn't take into account the Indians who were used by the British to fight against the Americans and lost their lives during the war.

Furthermore, both sides won a lot of land and lost a lot of land.

Most importantly, this war led to both being at peace with each other and an increase in trade relations. Especially considering the war started because Britain wanted to prevent America from having trade relations with France. This was a huge change in how these countries worked with one another.

So, while you can tout it as a massive victory for the British, understand that it was a more massive victory for the Americans as they turned an enemy who feared their naval growth into a friendly nation.

I'm going to say that the War of 1812 may likely be a future AC3 expansion game of sorts considering its involvement of Native Americans, British, French, and Americans as well expansion in the new lands. Connor might, though in his old age, find himself fighting more on the side of his Native brethren to stop new Templar uprisings in all areas.

Secondly, it's set in the american revolution and AC has always been a relatively history based series (minus the supernatural parts of course) and they're not about to make the british win the war since that would make no sense. Judging from codex pages and info from the past AC games...about America being the central place for the templars it would of made more sense to have the redcoats being the assassins liberating American from Templar control. Since America win it would then explain why the templars are more powerful in the present and why the Assasins have nearly all been killed off. Not to mention they said George Washington as a templar...and now your working for him. It dosen't make sense.

I watch it every 4th Of July, history is written by the winners, but its pretty clear to me that a revolution was needed. There were a lot of factors in The Revolutionary War, but you cant sit and pretend that we weren't being unfairly ruled and that a lot of the British were downright evil.

I've only played the very first assassins creed. I thought it was ok. Question is if I thought the first one was ok will I like the newer ones? And what one do you recommend I get in order to have this game win me over?

Try Assassin's creed 2. Best one in the series in my opinion.

That game was a huge improvement from its predecessor, there are way more mission varieties, a likeable protagonist, and kick-ass music. Brotherhood and Revelations weren't bad either, though not much of an improvement from the second game.

At the people asking what the problem is; AC has always been and is supposed to be to an extent historically accurate, just twisting certain events; yet probably to try and get more sales in the USA/not upset that market this new game is very clearly (at least from what they've shown) biased towards the Americans-now I'll still buy the game day one and I'll play through it I have no problem with killing British people in a video game however it does bite abit when your character is supposed to be neutral tot the war currently going on (Altair did this quite well in AC1...) yet instead he seems to be being given a side that will generate the most sales and because they know if they made him fight for the redcoats/showed that loads a large portion of their American market for the game would be in uproar and complain-whereas most other nationalities just sit back and put up with it (Medal of honour backs this up, plus that game that got cancelled about something similar) I think it's jsut that people are fed up of companies not wanting to upset their american market at the expense of others so much so that they start twisting the original vision of their games/films etc (this could be wrong and just be how the marketing went however from past examples and the general trend in media I doubt it is wrong.)

I fine with the english being put in a bad light/bias, BUT

What I have a problem with is revolutionists are always in a good light/bias.

fact is revolutionists mostly killed loyalist civilians, making them basically terrorists, and arguably bigger "baddies" than us brits.

Ass creed spend too long away from the usual settings for video games.... 'merica the best place for any baddies/aliens/what have you to take over the world.
