"Although this generation has seen the flourishing of Western game development, there are still plenty of gems being released in Japan, some of which never reached other regions. Here are my top five picks of the huge lot of unlocalized games that are successful enough in their homeland or have a large enough following to warrant a localization." | Explosion.com
NE: "EarthBound fans got lots of news in 2024, but a Mother 3 localization wasn't part of it. We talk whether it's possible with pros and cons."
Pro: More people getting to experience a game they weren't able to before.
Con: Hearing either Lucas or Ness yell "PK fire" ever again.
Today it was announced that the gaming and anime industry has lost another beloved artist and creator. Mutsumi Inomata has passed away.
The Tales Of series are some of the best RPGs I've ever played, and the characters are a big reason for that. I don't think I played a single game in the series that I didn't enjoy. Rest in peace.
Wow she was the character designer for Tales of Destiny one of my favorites of all time =(
I love the Tales games. Phantasia will always be my favorite. Ironically I felt like as the series progressed the character design became too “anime cliche.”
IGN writes: Mother 3 is one of the most hotly-desired RPGs ever, having never received an official translation in North America despite the cult popularity of its predecessor, Earthbound. But over all these years, series creator Shigesato Itoi has never weighed in on the discussion - at least until now."
How could they not have FF Type-0 on here. That game looks amazing. But seems like people here in the West forgot about it. Hopefully it comes here one day.
nice list, I'm still waiting for localisation of two ds games, though I think I won't see them, but maybe at least fan translations:
okaeri chibi robo and sakura note ..oh and that ghibli game with level 5 (ds too) :) still sad about fatal frame IV game, I've finished it with english patch: one of the best horror games this gen..
are there any news about nano assault 3ds for europe localisation? (still waiting) :/
It's really a shame that a terrible publisher has taken hold of the Fatal Frame series. Hopefully Tecmo will one day get the rights back, and return the series to it's former glory in the west.
Break the locks.
Type-0 having imported the game i have to say it is one of the most satisfying games i have played ever. I still believe Squarenix is prepping for a Vita release (digital) cause of the PSPs situation here in the west (pirated to heck).
Tales of Xillia i hope comes over seeing how well Tales of Graces did.
