Why is it in DMC, a game that was known for (in 3 and 4) to have a metal based soundtrack now getting Techno and Dubstep (lol)?

It makes NO sense at all. Even in music this game is not DMC! Art, gameplay, story, and even the MUSIC is wrong...

As much as I disagree with most of what you are saying, I couldn't agree more regarding the music. I'm no fan of metal but DMC 3 (in particular) had an amazing soundtrack. This just feels bland, boring and lazy.

nothing is wrong with dubstep and techno beside

epic soundtracks

I don't hate Techno, I don't get Dubstep. But it is NOT right for Devil May Cry.

OmegaSlayer4319d ago

Yeah, distorted guitars are greatly missed

GillHarrison4319d ago

May not look like the old Devil May Cry, but it is definitely shaping up to be a good game. I think the music fits their new direction.

RyuX194319d ago

How in the blue hell is it shaping up to be a good game?

GillHarrison4319d ago

Every time I seem to read a preview of the gameplay (most important part of game design) they seem to praise how well it feels.

KonaBro4319d ago

Uggh. I imagine the conversation went like this:

Ninja Theory Boss: "Gentlemen! It's not looking good. The fans hate our new Dante, the boys in development are saying we can't replicate the 60FPS DMC is known for, and we're coming off of the flop known as Enslaved. What can we do to distract the kids long enough for a sale?"

Random Ninja Theory PR Guy: "Give em' the WUB WUB!"

Ninja Theory Boss: "GENIUS! Get Noisia and Combichist on the phone ASAP!"

People actually enjoyed the music from DMC1-3? At least now the music is sensible to the world it's in. I tried listening to the battle music from DMC3 recently, and it made me laugh fairly hard. It's one reason why I never gave the DMC collection a single thought. Those games were amazing how I remember them. Any time I try to watch what I thought was amazing (the bar fight scene in DMC3, for example) when I was younger, it just makes me cringe now. It's awkward and incredibly cheesy.

If all these things people complain about is what makes DMC, then DMC was a complete cheese-fest. And I thank Ninja Theory for finally making it more than just a joke.

RyuX194319d ago

There was no bar fight scene. I guess you haven't played them in a while cause you're making shit up now.

Also I guess you didn't get it, but Devil May Cry was supposed to be cheesy. It wasn't unintentional, it was all apart of the fun in it's over the top world. Not every game has to be dark and serious.

What the originals offered are things you just don't see anymore in most modern games: deep combat with challenging bosses and enemies.

Ninja Theory has turned Devil May Cry, a fun over the top series into a Political Satire. Honestly I think Ninja Theory have turned it into more of a joke and a sad one at that.

Ninja Gaiden has always been and will always be a poor man's Devil May Cry.

Works for me. I don't have a problem with dubstep...if it's placed correctly.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC5d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos4d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Cacabunga4d ago

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer5d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya5d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde5d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP4d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.
