Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor (Kinect) Review | HardwareHeaven.com

"Capcom are back with the launch of Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor and rather than develop, or re-use a custom controller they are basing this game on the Xbox 360 Kinect functionality. With an interesting history in the franchise and developed by the team behind games such as Dark Souls can Heavy Armor take a place as the latest key Kinect title?" - HardwareHeaven.com

Damn!!! 60? I thought this game would of been a triple AAA title for Kinect. It has great ideas too.

60/100 is a AAA title score for kinect sadly lol.

Id recommend you give it a try you know how many opinions can differ from your own and sometimes lead you to avoiding something you might actually enjoy.

It's a shame that it's getting low scores as a lot of people had high hopes for this one. But it seemed like these guys were more interested in utilizing everything they could for the kinect and have gameplay and pretty much everything else take a backseat. To be fair, capcom didn't develop this one, and if they decide to make another they'll most likely do it themselves....

Their is a demo of the game for download on the marketplace if anyone is interested in trying it.

ive tried it and the controls actually are good it just requires more of a mimicking of say pushing a button or pulling a lever. I doubt most people realize that since the sensitivity is high enough on the thing that just waving your arm over it can sometimes activate certain things. it all still depends mostly on the person that plays it seeing as there's sort of a learning curve with kinect games.

hmmmm does MS really need to waste money on Kinect 2 for there next system? lol

mcstorm4327d ago

I think they do as it is promising tech and Kinect has done its job this gen in opening it up to everyone as the 360 was seen as a core consoles and is now seen as a core and family console. Kinect 2 will be built with better tech that will work better for core games and with Kinect being shipped with ever xbox not as a add on more developers will start to use it more.

Shadonic4327d ago

it will be better tech and when you do consider the world outside of the big producers its actually doing better in a sense. They have kinect on skyrim and bulletstorm there's mods implementing it into new and different things that are more innovative. The kinect2 will improve upon the kinect1 and will hopefully push for more hardcore titles. Still the thing that's killing these scores the most seems to either be controls or content. Here its controls but from my own experiences the controls were fine so maybe a better tutorial to show exactly what to do or maybe broaden the over all gesture to do a certain action.

Why From Software's worst game is worth learning from

Eurogamer:

"Heavy Armor might be the perfect Kinect game, or at least, the most honest, because it reveals how interesting life can be when technology gets in your way. Green-lighted way back when Kinect was known as Project Natal, the game posits a near-future in which a silicon-guzzling microbe has devoured every computer on the planet, setting back the science of combat to roundabouts the close of the first world war. Deprived of GPS, drones and other decadent trappings of 21st century warfare, the Earth's nations are obliged to duke it out in gas-powered mechs or "vertical tanks" that handle as elegantly as elephants in high heels."

Of course it is. You have to learn from your mistakes

Godmars2903187d ago

And the reason that it was one of From Soft's worst games is that it was tied to poor game accessory.

plmkoh3187d ago

TBH the game looked interesting on it's debut.

_-EDMIX-_3187d ago

Not something I want to remember that existed.

audiocafe3187d ago

As much as I like From's Souls games, I'm hoping they release another Armored Core at some point.

...just had to throw that out there

TheColbertinator3187d ago

Armored Core or Tenchu would be cool with me

Ignore death threats

It always seems like the video game industry can’t go a single week without handling death threats of some sort. At this point, they almost come with the territory for game developers, critics, or anyone else a select few people don’t like. However, the only way a person who receives death threats can combat them is by doing absolutely nothing.

MWEB GameZone writes: "The things that you love the most, are also the things that can hurt you the most. Which is just an unnecessarily complicated way of saying that there are really, really bad video games out there and they'll make you feel bad.

We've compiled a list of these aberrations so that you don't ever have to play them yourself."

I really thought the picture of the horse was a real game. Not even sure why I'm disappointed it isn't ;/ Also, Survivor? What's the real aim of the game? Survive the opening credits?
