Actually, when VGChartz has the PS3 ahead I say it's crap and when they have the 360 ahead, I say it's crap. It's because it's crap. It's just a fan site that has small retail sample sizes in the US and bupkis anywhere else. I mean, come on. This site had PS3 numbers millions short for years. In the past, software numbers have been shown to be off by over 100%. Who takes this site seriously? Even if they're close every now and then, how do you know when they're right and when they're not even in the ball park without the actual numbers from the company's themselves?

Ever since Ioi was banned from Neogaf for spouting off his BS numbers and started VGChartz, this site has been a huge source of contention and even they don't back up their numbers, running the disclaimer on the site that these numbers are only for entertainment purposes and shouldn't be used for investment or generally anything serious.

And that's why VGChartz numbers are always labelled "Rumor" You want real numbers? You're going to have to wait till the end of the quarter when each company makes this data available, if they even choose to. Next figures are due out sometime in July if I'm not mistaken.

HAHAHAH XBOX 360 is clear winner this generation. It has a higher attachment rate and better software sales in overall lifetime. Every year, sony fanboys claim lifetime sales of PS3 will overtake XBOX 360. 6 Years on from start of this gen, PS3 still has not beaten XBOX in lifetime sales. How mighty has fallen.

Last generation, PS2 dominated with 74% of the gaming market.

My fellow Sony gamers, the high numbers of PS3 sold and the seeming slow but rising PS Vita numbers show that there are games out there who are truly classy, mature, and intelligent gamers.

Many people would say that the rising popularity of Sony products is simply because of the shallow "Sony brand" attached to it and the brainless, rabid Sony fanboys who only care about "all flash, but no substance"-kind of gaming. Such statements aren't just lies but also propaganda designed to discourage real gamers from enjoying true gaming bliss as well as to make the 360 community, known for their very limited intellectual capabilities, to feel good.

The reality is, the world's only true gaming community, the Sony gamers, buy high quality Sony products not just for its high quality looks. Sony gamers, guided by their core gaming values of classiness, maturity, and intelligence, are driven to buy only games that show uniqueness, innovation, and intellectual thinking. Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, Heavy Rain, Journey, and inFamous are just a very small example of Sony games that meets those criteria. In short, the success of Sony is due to a very mature, classy, and intelligent gaming community only seeking to get the games that matches their image.

Another reason for the explosive global growth of the Sony gaming community is that a small yet growing number of people are beginning to see the error of their ways as Nintendo and Xbox gamers. Nintendo gamers are beginning to go the Sony side as they are finally realizing that playing endless Mario games while telling themselves like a schizoid that "this game is new, this game is new!" over and over again is starting to get old. That and realizing that Nintendo is just...for kids! On the other hand, people who are now considered as "former 360 gamers" did so they finally saw the follies of being an Xbox gamer for this list of reasons:

1. Ever raising price of Xbox Live.
2. Continual cover-up of Xbox Live hacking and the harassment from Xbox fanatics that they were scammed or phised despite to their claims that they weren't.
3. Being sick and tired of deluding themselves that Gears of War, including its stomach churning cheesy story, is a great game and not a copy of WinBack.
4. That Halo is actually a "wannabe" of a certain hit Bandai kid show from the 90's and that they have decided to grow up.
5. Realizing that their fellow Xbox Live comrades are social outcasts/perpetual basement dwellers whose only goal is to work and retire as a Gamestop sale associate.
6. Kinect Dance games being the future of the 360 and its Xbox successor. That and the complete "mind job" of/from the Xbox fanatics in order for Kinect games to be accepted as the "only legitimate" form of videogaming.

The last, but not the least, reason why the Sony gaming community is growing is due to the actions of the Sony gamers in teaching and showing the rest of the world what true videogaming bliss is. Their actions, not the least the highly esteemed N4G Sony community, have helped other gamers mature from their mentally debilitating addiction to Nintendo and MS.

I am glad sony kept some of their gaming roots from the ps1 and ps2 eras. Microsoft and its new gen persona sucks and has made gaming shit.

I thank sony for keeping its roots in single player games and making games like uncharted, infamous, little big planet, heavy rain, and many other great single player games. ofc they have added online aspects to most of their games but they still made sure that the sp was epic and worth going back to.

Sony has made psn free and has kept ads to the minimum.

Sony makes sure that it never lags in terms of having exclusives of many different genres. This is what makes the ps3 the GAMING console of this generation.

2012 sales numbers for all consoles are well down on 2011. Wii U launches late 2012 and Next Box and PS4 launch in 2013.
Hopefully next generation systems have backwards compatibility with the current generation.

VGChartz currently has the 360 at 66.8M and the PS3 at 64.5M. So according to VGChartz, since the start of April until now, the 360 has sold negative (-) 400,000 units, while the PS3 has sold 600,000 units. Now it doesn't take a genius to see a problem with these numbers.

It just so happens Nintendo makes otaku games so by default I am a fan of them. I'm. Also a fan of the Sony. From the ps2 era. They had a lot of anime styled classics more than any system ever had
