Top James Bond Video Games to Get You Started

James Bond is the perfect video game protagonist. His adventures take him all over the world, facing off against some of the most evil men (and women) in an attempt to stop their change-the-world, topple-the-government plans again and again. This year is going to be another huge year for the double-oh agent, with much anticipated film Skyfall being released this October,

-I think I liked Nightfire better than all of them, I also kinda liked The World is Not enough.. ^_^

haggishurler4351d ago (Edited 4351d ago )

Nightfire is easily one of the best ever bond games.

I prefer the original N64 Goldeneye over the remake. Just something about the new one doesn't appeal to me...

stage884352d ago

Wow, N64 Goldeneye did not make the list.
Don't bother reading this article.

Goldeneye was more revered by FPS enthusiasts and for its multiplayer though. As a Bond game, a 007 experience, it isn't anything special. Certainly not on the cinematic level as EoN.

Good fun for splitscreen MP, but not what I'd reach for when looking for the most authentic, pure Bond experience.

Well i guess it is about new bond players, so i could see why the n64 version isn't on the list as the controls imo haven't held up.

Everything or Nothing is really cool.
Star actors, original writers, pre-credit, original song, helicopter chases, car races, tanks, gadgets, coop, adversarial, split screen, stealth, gadgets, online (not active anymore obviously). Really full featured.
It even has some of the so called "exotic" gameplay sequences that cinematic games of today love to feature, a free fall near a waterfall and other stuff like that...
Now the gameplay feels a bit stiff, but for its time it was awesome and it hold up pretty well.

My second fave would be Agent Under Fire. It doesn't have any actor likeness or pre-credits and song, but I think it's the most fun of the Bond FPS.
It's very short but the pacing is high and the mission design is always entertaining.
Nightfire feels more authentic. It uses Brosnan's likeness (but not his voice), it has a credit sequence with a song, and the multiplayer is a bit more fleshed out I think than Agent Under Fire.
However the mission design is not as consistently exciting as Agent Under Fire, and it's about as short.
Both games are close but I think Agent was more memorable.

But Everything or Nothing is hands down the best.

As for GoldenEye, sure it was milestone for console FPS, but it's hard to age well in such a competitive genre.
The mission design and gameplay is really dated even though levels are a bit more open than present games.

James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, a Twenty Year Reunion

WTMG's Leo Faria: "Whilst I need to agree that Everything or Nothing aged more noticeably than other gems from 2004, I was surprised with how exciting it is to play after all these years. It was EA pushing the medium to brand new territory, a game with the same kind of cast and set pieces you’d expect from a Hollywood blockbuster, but still fun enough as a video game, never forgetting that being entertaining to play was its main priority. We wouldn’t have had games like Alan Wake, Max Payne 3, and others, if it wasn’t for Everything or Nothing showing us how action movies and games could be meshed together into a beautiful, chaotic piece of dumb fun."

My personal second best Bond game behind GoldenEye 64. Looking forward to what IO Interactive has cooking.

Actually great list TBH I agree with all 10

I hope one day we get some remakes for the following

The saboteur(with a proper remake and quality of life features this game could be great)
Scarface world is yours
Binary domain ( such a great game with great story)
GUN(this needs a remake)
Space marine 40k(such fun time)

Would also like to suggest adding the mercenary series even the 2nd game which is disliked by many is a fun time

I recently finished Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and found it to be very enjoyable.

The game respected the lore and the gameplay was quite decent.

The color palette was a bit underwhelming (backdrops and setting) and recycled but I think that it deserved better.

Here's hoping for an amazing sequel

The wha ... ?
Oh, Daniel Craig.

adamwparker907d ago

I couldn't even name a Daniel Craig 007 game.
I play games still and constantly listen to video game podcasts but no Craig games are popping in my mind.

It's crazy because Brosnan had many that come to mind.

ToddlerBrain906d ago

You already can’t purchase some of the games anymore. Bond games are notoriously horrendous with their licensing.

Christopher906d ago

Pretty much the same for all movie/tv show IPs out there, tbh.

ElvisHuxley906d ago

Casino Royale was pretty good, kinda downhill from there though IMO. Just let Bond die with dignity.
