Kane & Lynch Developers Sued for Defaming Chinese People

Never mind that Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days was first released nearly two years ago (or that it was a bit of a turd), one lawyer in China sure is pissed.

Hufandpuf4369d ago

Ridiculous. I'm surprised he even played the game it was so bad.

guitarded774367d ago

I rather enjoyed Kane & Lynch 2... my only complaint is that the game wasn't longer.

From Article: "Liu is seeking 10,000 yuan (US$1,585) in damages."

LoL The "defaming" of the largest ethnic population on earth is only valued at $1,585.

Kane & Lynch is a work of fiction. Get over it.

wallis4367d ago (Edited 4367d ago )

I enjoyed Kane and Lynch 2. I certainly respect peoples' opinions of it because that's fair but I think it's pretty disgusting for Kotaku to just call it a turd. I know the average person will just write a movie or a game off as crap but professional critics should appreciate that sitting down and crafting a virtual experience is fucking difficult and takes a LOT of people putting in a LOT of work and that it only takes a few slip ups to make a game unenjoyable. There is no scenario where game developers sit around eating donuts whilst lazily throwing tropes around in a meeting - they all work hard and that should be appreciated by people who make their living LEECHING OFF THOSE VERY GAMES.

But aside from my journalism rant I can't help but point out the Chinese government's actions have done a pretty damn good job of vilifying China. I know that playing that video game must have really upset him but shouldn't he be more concerned about the Orwellian regime slowly destroying all hopes of freedom in his country? But saying that this guy has some retarded priorities.

Or more realistically he's an idiot with a $1,585 mortgage payment due in his post and like all idiots he looked to the legal system to help.

Haha, I actually loved Dog Days. It had true grit in a way most games (or movies) don't have. And had old ugly people as main characters instead of beautiful 20 somethings.

Gotta respect its nerve and I just loved the art style.

Fun game too.

LightofDarkness4368d ago (Edited 4368d ago )

God, this better be thrown out of court. Otherwise, all of our antagonists will come from "Madeupistan" or "Communisia."

Conversely, it might force developers to be more creative when designing their enemies... Ha, who can say that with a straight face!

ChrisW4368d ago

We might have to go back to killing Nazis...

jamesgtaiv4368d ago (Edited 4368d ago )

"Deframe a China?! IMPOSSIBRU!!"

And then Lynch was all like "You mad, bro?"

And Kane was on his cell phone like, "Yeah baby, I'll be there in a minute"

jamesgtaiv4368d ago

Thanks. Wouldn't want to spell anything the wrong way when making fun of the Chinese accent.

Baka-akaB4368d ago

Kane and Lynch already defamed video games , no need to sue .

ChrisW4368d ago (Edited 4368d ago )

LOL! Gotta love the Chinese! This is about as ludicrous as Simon Ledger being arrested for covering "Kung Fu Fighting" in Britain!

Microsoft should have left them stay 3rd party

GamerRN7h ago

If they are let go, they can be whatever they want. They ARE 3rd party now... 🤦

Barlos4h ago

Yeah, they're also jobless.

PassNextquestion9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

Bethesda France was made up of roughly 15 people... they couldn't of being doing much

Bethesda France mainly did publishing and marketing within the region

blacktiger7h ago

that's a shame for you to say that, i'm sure Elite loves hearing what you just said.

Profchaos9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

Bethesda France focused on publishing and marketing in the region. And 15 people lost their jobs as part of the closure.

I wonder if this is part of Microsoft's strategy to abandoned physical media or possibly gamepass advertising makes their roles redundant you don't need to market a game as hard when the majority of players get the game as part of a sub which already promoted upcoming games

Tacoboto8h ago

It's France too, there's a high likelihood only 1-2 people on the team even had an Xbox.

Profchaos8h ago

Possibly guven all the leaks we know the Xbox brand is really struggling in the region.

Yi-Long5h ago

Well, if your consoles and games are barely found in any stores any more, of course you're gonna struggle finding consumers ...

XiNatsuDragnel7h ago

Tbh Microsoft I think Bethesda being 3rd party same with Activision would probably more competitive than thus scenario imo

Profchaos6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

I think it would have been better for all parties really especially gamers

TheColbertinator7h ago

The recently purchased Activision French offices might take over all the licensing and marketing for Microsoft in France from now on.

I’m Glad Atlus & SE Changed Dates To Avoid Competing With Shadow Of The Erdtree

Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."

H91d 3h ago

More intelligent than guerilla games

raWfodog9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

Atlus is releasing their game one week before Erdtree, SE is releasing theirs one week after.

HZD released four days before Zelda, HFW released one week before Elden Ring.

It seems to me like they are still releasing their games too close to Erdtree.

Sony Could Increase Your Game's Difficulty If It Sees You Complain About It

Sony has recently published a new patent that wants to dynamically handle the games' difficulty and gameplay based on the player's emotions.

jznrpg10h ago

This is something I might use. Sometimes I play some good games but they don’t have difficulty option and are a little too easy.

Profchaos9h ago

Souls games will be like that players struggling make it harder

PassNextquestion9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

I think if used correctly it could work well

jambola5h ago

cool idea
cool idea for horror games especially
the way it's explained here sounds like it could never be forced hopefully, so that's ok with me
