[Prototype] was one of those games that was shadowed by many due to Infamous being released in close proximity to it. It had its flaws, but nothing that prevented the game from functioning. The problems that I experienced were too many flying scan-bots and some of the side challenges were just unrealistically hard.
[Prototype 2] is much improved, the main character James Heller doesn't have to waste much time figuring out what happened nor does he seem to care. In the beginning his only concern is finding Alex Mercer, the first prototype, seeking revenge for the murder of his wife and child. It is a simple yet powerful driving force, and when he gains his prototype powers he questions nothing, unlike Mercer who had lost a vast amount of his memory in the first installment.
The story is fairly easy to follow, and I didn't find myself constantly saying "what does that mean" like in the first game, which was more of a mystery theme. The city setup is easy enough while using the standard GTA style gps and mapping feature.
The controls are much the same as the first title but so are some of the powers, they also utilize an ability wheel like many games are moving towards when multiple selections are available. But they achieve a good balance of use. No one weapon works well on everything, which is a balance that [Prototype] didn't fully achieve. Of coarse each player will develop their favorites. Mine was the tendrils.
They did remove the side challenges from the main game, but they seem to be available with the online features and it seems that they will have weekly additional challenges.
Overall I like this game more than the original. It felt better.
As for trophies in this game I am pleased to report that there are no ridiculously impossible ones. The most difficult one I think is to beat it on hard which just requires a second play through if you don't start on that difficulty.
Overall this sequel fixed many if not all of the problems the first one had, although a fairly short game it felt very complete.

Huge fan of this series, beat the game 3 times. Was hoping they announced prototype 3 this year, guess not.
Get your hopes up. They do these remasters to gauge interest in a sequel. If this is true and people buy it you'll get a sequel.
This is why backward compatibility was a megaton. Thank you Jesus it should put an end to remasters on Xbox at least.

Backward compatibility is nothing for me. When I play on PS4/Xbox One/Wii U, I get games, both new and old. Remaster and remakes is cool for me.
Adding much more visual better looking games, dlc and more and backward compatibility just don't add value for me at all.
If I want to play on my Xbox 360, then sure I will turn on my Xbox 360! It's has that special something with the console itself and the controller, that I mean is the best Xbox controller still!
No, there will be plenty of remasters on xbone bc ppl want to play the games with updated next gen visuals, improved gameplay, added features, and all the DLC otherwise we could just play the last gen version.
It kinda sucks though if xboners don't get beautiful definitive editions and remasters, you will never get to play the best version of that game. So xboners don't wan't Dishonored Definitive or Gears remastered? Gtfo.

As a person with all three consoles and platted pubes i say yes you're right, I'd rather just wait for the Xbox One to be able to play Prototype 2 instead.

Seriously? Who needs backwards compatibility anyway? Give me 3 Bioshock remasters, and 2 more Souls ones, and I will need nothing from last gen. Oh...and Valkyria Chronicles.

Actually Infamous bored me but I had a blast with Prototype. Never played the second though.
Each to their own, i think Protoype 1 wiped the floor with Infamous as far as story / powers go, it was like a power fantasy dream.

A man just platinumed FC4 but now still has LBP3, Deadly Premonition, Hitman Trilogy, Injustice, and now the Swapper, Ducktales, Duker and Prototype to finish (probably gonna go for plat on all 3 Hitmen, Deadly Premonition, LBP3, and Prototype 2)! Oh yeah a man also has Retro City DX that he wants to play around with! Luckily the Order doesn't come out for a month and a half so a man MAY have time to actually play some of these lol

Graphics are a pretty vast improvement over the original I'd say, plus it runs remarkably well even in the most chaotic scenes
