no offence to console gamers, but when i see you complaining about paying to play online, i wonder how a major MMO would settle with you guys. i doubt you would be willing to pay £40 for the game + £90 subscription a year.

games on steam are £20-£30 a shot so the money i am saving compared to my console days i am happy to pay the subscription for daily missions, bosses and other MMO stuff.

if your not into paying to play online then don't wish you could have it.

P.S i am an Old Republic subscriber and love how it is a good 1,000 hours of gameplay through every class and adding more missions and updates every couple of days makes me comfortable giving EA/bioware money every month...

@Neko_Mega you mean like DCU that flopped and went free to play. like i said....if your not willing to back a game thats offering daily gameplay updates then just don't bother mentioning it.

Hicken4372d ago

DCU's intent was to go f2p anyway. It happened a little faster thanks to the hack and PSN being down, though. And given how many people play it, I doubt I'd call it a flop. Of course, you would, but you're essentially a troll anyway...

That aside, it's a matter of not WANTING to pay. I'm sure PC gamers would like it if they didn't have to pay for the game AND each month. Naturally, since console-only gamers aren't used to doing both, they'd not exactly be happy with the idea. Still, if a game proves itself to be worthy, there's no real gamer who wouldn't be up for it.

Just as MAX PAYNE 3 is listed at 59.99 on STEAM.

Just wanted to point that out.....
I wouldn't want people to start thinking you're a liar.

@Hicken i enjoy DCU and bought the DLC which also gives me the half premium stuff, i love it, just an MMO never sets out to go FTP unless it starts FTP. it was never meant to be. could you please link me to where it says DCU will be charged to begin with but free to play after. never happened did it. you think someone is gonna sink money into a PTP MMO when they know its gonna be FTP less than a year down the line.

@Persistantthug... me and you may have different views on AAA titles.

alan wake - £27

red orchestra 2 - £22

the witcher 2 - £30

hard reset - £20

sniper elite - £27

SF vs. Tekken - £27

the walking dead season 1-5 - £19

prototype 2 - £30

L.A noire - £27

deus ex:HR - £30

max payne 3 - £30 - $50 NOT $60.

i would mention call of duty but even PC gamers get scammed as bad as you guys :-D

companies who charge console prices don't get my cash i am afraid. i know my budget and i stick to it. i wait for steam sales if it is over priced.

For the record DCUO had one server for ps3 last time i played about 2 months ago. That can't possibly be that many ppl.

What a bunch of bull Hicken, who makes an mmo with the intent to go f2p on a later stage? That is complete bull. They went f2p because it was a flop.

Persistantthug

Max Payne 1 + Max Payne 2 + Max Payne 3 + DLC is £25 at Gamersgate.co.uk

Don't get that on the consoles do you?

I bought Skyrim for £34 on release day off Steam, I bought BF3 for £27 brand new from Tesco for PC day one.

You're just blind and slightly butt hurt.

Persistantthug4371d ago (Edited 4371d ago )

Also, I said LAUNCH AAA-BUDGET games.

-PROTOTYPE 2 (recently launched) = $49.99.....FRYS ELECTRONICS has it for that (PS3 & XBOX 360)

-MAX PAYNE = $59.99
-WITCHER 2 ....launched at $49.99 on STEAM

As a matter of fact, the game you earlier said you currently play, -STAR WARS: TOR....that game launched at $49.99.

almost all AAA budget games launch at $50 - $60....same as consoles..... this is especially true when said AAA game has a console counterpart.
Sorry to inform you, I guess.

No, PS3 maybe. Next gen consoles? Yes.

showtimefolks4372d ago (Edited 4372d ago )

also let's not kid our self MS won't allow any kind of MMO. xboxlive is such a huge market place but like valve said xblive is a very closed platform while psn is very open.

did SE release the updated version of ff14 online with all the fixes like they said they would?

MMO on console succeed if done right, i am hoping for dust514 to do that

MrMister4372d ago

I agree, but exactly is it that is in MS's policy that is somehow at odds with MMO's?

GameOn4371d ago
