Max Payne 3 DLC plans announced; first add-on content in June

TVGB: "Rockstar's just announced its plans for Max Payne 3 DLC.

All PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions are in for new multiplayer maps, modes, bursts, items, playable characters, challenges "and more" over the months following the game's release, with the first pack of content arriving in June."

I normally don't like DLC.

But if it as anywhere as good as Undead Nightmare or Episodes from Liberty City, then it will be a definite purchase.

Rockstar is one of the few that make DLC worth while!

LOGICWINS4368d ago (Edited 4368d ago )

"Furthermore, a DLC Pass can be pre-ordered starting today. What will it give you? Why, access to all future DLC, of course. The Pass goes for 2400 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE and $29.99 on PlayStation Network and PC; more than a 35% discount, Rockstar points out.

Fancy that.

And here’s what to expect going forward:

June 2012
Local Justice Map Pack

Summer 2012
Disorganized Crime Map Pack
Deathmatch Made In Heaven Mode Pack
Hostage Negotiation Map Pack
New York Minute Co-Op Pack

Fall 2012
Painful Memories Map Pack
Trickle Down Economics Map Pack"

So I'm paying $89.99 to get the FULL Max Payne 3 experience? Sorry Rockstar, but no, just no. I'm switching my pre-order to Sleeping Dogs.

TooTall194367d ago

I can wait till next year for a special edition with all the dlc bundled.

xPhearR3dx4367d ago

Max Payne has always been about SP. This is the only Max Payne with MP and all the DLC is MP related. You're not paying $89.99 for the Full Max Payne 3 experience. You're paying $30 for FIVE map packs, a co-op pack and a new game mode.

mafiahajeri4367d ago

Sleeping dogs? comparing a canceled game to Max payne?? Nobody's forcing you to buy the DLC. You should be thankful they added MP multiplayer that they actually obviously worked hard on to add replay value and not just to attract the COD crowd.

Sometimes I question your logic, LOGICOWNS...

Apocwhen4367d ago

@xPhearR3dx Max Payne 2 had Multiplayer too.

LOGICWINS4367d ago

"Sleeping dogs? comparing a canceled game to Max payne??"

I'm not "comparing" anything. SD just happens to be another game that I would like to have. One that doesn't have a craploads of DLC on schedule.

"Nobody's forcing you to buy the DLC."

It's about PRINCIPLE. It's about not supporting devs who withhold the complete experience of the game to charge extra for features. This games been in development for half a decade. All this DLC could have been on disc for free.

Undead Nightmare was different. It came MONTHS after RDR and provided a whole new campaign (despite only being a few hours long). For Max Payne 3, all we are getting are maps!

ReservoirDog3164367d ago

Well, multiplayer dlc is pretty reasonable. We're in the age of dlc and you gotta expect that. It's not like it's stuff intentionally cut from the story. It's multiplayer.

Your argument towards Max Payne 3 dlc could apply to 99% of games released this gen besides Wii games. I'm sure Sleeping Dogs also has dlc too.

LOGICWINS4367d ago

Of course Sleeping Dogs has DLC, but not SEVEN DLC packs announced before the game is even out! Thats a slap in the face. By releasing five different maps, your splitting the online community.

ginsunuva4367d ago

Awesome! We can pre-order DLC PASSES now?!

RyuX194367d ago

I think the only difference between this DLC and Red Dead or GTAIV's DLC is that they announced it early.

If they didn't announce it early then you wouldn't be complaining.

These DLC packs aren't coming out for sometime. For all we know maybe they aren't even finished yet and they are releasing it a bit after their deadline.

The only thing that I see that is disappointing is that the Co-op Missions are DLC. That should be in the game.

xPhearR3dx4367d ago

@Apocwhen

Max Payne 2 did not have multiplayer. Maybe someone released a mod, but the game did not launch with any online multiplayer.

They even give DLC for free. Undead Nightmare is the best DLC Ive ever bought and it was cheap too. Rockstar are my favourite Devs for sure...

ape0074368d ago

this game is gonna be an awesome, infinitely fun shooting heaven

Mythicninja4368d ago

Game of the year / ultimate edition 2-3 years from now it is!

LOGICWINS4367d ago

Nah. By the time the GOTY edition for this comes out, I'll be knee deep into GTA5's multiplayer. I'll just get this used for $20 towards the end of the year to play the SP.

deletingthis346753344368d ago

Yeah, I would rather download free mods for PC instead. Suck on this one Rockstar.

BeaArthur4367d ago

I never buy online passes because I'm never sure how long I'm going to play a game for. Maybe I get bored with the MP after 2 months and then all that money goes to waste.

I got 80% trophy completion on Ragnarok but left a few of the battles. Will come back to it one day.

Miraak82 289d ago

Dragon Quest 11 is my top pick

RpgSama289d ago

Dragon Quest XI was such an AMAZING game, I had a blast from the very beginning all the way to the very end, it actually got better the more you played, full of surprises as well.

Another game that I enjoyed from the very beginning all the way to the end of the 100% completion was Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Really, really, really fun game with a great heartfelt story.

badz149289d ago (Edited 289d ago )

Where is Horizon Zero Dawn?? where is Ghost of Tsushima?? I just got my Platinum on HZD and is now trying to finish the Frozen Wild expansion. so much care and love went into that game and it really shows. I especially adore the lore and have sunk many hours listening to the logs and reading journals. the back story is great and the gameplay is awesome. can't wait to replay on the hardest difficulty on NG+. next in my list would be to finish GoTsushima

Tacoboto289d ago

Ghost was fantastic especially after Iki Island and the PS5 upgrade. 100%'d that, Horizon Forbidden West (not ZD), GoW (not yet Ragnarok), Spider-Man, and R&C: Rift Apart.

Each one absolutely worth it.

Aloymetal289d ago (Edited 289d ago )

100% I would like to add to you list RDR2, amazing as well and the perks from getting the Legend Of The East outfit is awesome.
Sekiro as well, have to play twice to get it but it's worth it!

Demetrius289d ago

I agree I'm on my 2nd playthroughs of both horizon forbidden West(zero dawn I played also) ghost of Tsushima except I'm replaying it on PS5 this time, the iki island expansion is amazing

ClayRules2012289d ago

Yeah, GoT was already an AMAZING game on PS4, but playing it on PS5, along with that expansion, just even better.

Elda289d ago

I just started my copy of GOW:R, enjoying it so far.

DefenderOfDoom2289d ago (Edited 289d ago )

Okay the title of article should be top 10 , 3rd person games to complete 100 percent. Nine 3rd person games and 1 racing game on this list .
