A breakdown of the best Silent Hill Characters that inspired and frightened gamers.
The sirens are sounding again, beckoning you back to the foggy ghost town as we rank all the Silent Hill games, from the chilling classics to the misguided missteps.
I mostly disagree with Downpour's position. Yeah, the game is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but is much better than the HD Collection and Homecoming. The main issue is the performance, but that was mitigated by the patches, especially on the PS3. Personally, I put it a little behind Origins and The Room.
Having Restless Dreams as a different entry from Silent Hill 2 is also a choice.
silent hill 2 is definitely the best one out of those.
for me personally, the whole ritual/cult stuff was always so weird to me in all the other games.
No disrespect but I put SH2 over 1. 1 is fantastic, but 2 took it all up a level.
The Ghetto Gamer has been predicting and tracking PS3 prices over the past year. The last few months have seen a massive spike in the pricing of PS3 games, and it may be too late to pick up some of the more rare and hard-to-find ones at a reasonable price. Some of these are nuts.
Again, seen this coming from the start, glad I already bought everything I wanted over the years 👌
Stil remember selling ps3 titles to buy a PS4. but i keept the ones i liked more. Did the same with the titles of the PS4 to get a PS5.
I'm not surprised one bit. the series has been going downhill ever since Konami started whoring it out to random developers.Silent Hill were the pinnacles of their genre. now that genre is pretty much dead.
...this title alone makes this article complete bs. Downpour is pretty good. Homecoming was def the worst as far as I can tell. And in my opinion, its right there with silent hill 2 and 3.
BS!!!
Downpour is a great game. The framerate could have been better ...
this a joke?
Downpour, IMO is the best survival horror this generation, some of the best puzzles and immersive environments I've seen. Not to mention the scares in certain parts of the game. It's very tension field at moments.
The game relies on escaping and rarely using weapons, a true survival horror concerning limitations, etc. something we haven't seen in awhile.
The worst installments in the Silent Hill franchise are The Room and Homecoming. The latter obviously screwed up by having too much emphasis on combat, a rehashed plot ripped from Silent Hill 2 and an art style influenced by the film. The Room however was just a complete mess. A protagonist shorn of personality, a finicky inventory system, irritating ghost enemies, the fact that the second portion of the game reused all previous locations, the fact that the second half became an escort mission, burping monsters, possessed wheelchairs, having to tolerate Walter's cackling soundbite everytime you run into him.
Downpour is flawed, and could have spent a little more time in development polishing off its technical performance, but it gets so much right and remains true to the survival-horror genre. And we all know how precious little survival-horror there has been this gen.
