IGN - PlayStation All-Stars Battle Is "Unbelievably Fun"

IGN - Colin and Andrew have first impressions on PlayStation's new mascot brawler.

NastyLeftHook04372d ago

and i will be unbelievably broke.

NukaCola4372d ago

Oh fo sho

I am going top support the hell out of this game. I love SSB and it's by far my favorite fighting game. The only thing I have wanted from this secret Sony fighter since it was first rumored was that it was similar to Smahs and not just a side scrolling PvP fighter like MK or SF. I love the battle system, the characters and graphics and music. The world mash ups are great and unique. The gameplay is similar but very different than Smash and Sony has a great online community and will support this game big time.

I hope to see more on moving/interactive stages, other characters, special items, maybe challenges a story mode or in-game trophies like SSB. The mash up on stages gives me a feeling they might have a cool story to go with the game.

I wonder who is next? Nathan Drake...The 3D Dot Heroes Guy?

Solid_Snake374371d ago

I hope they include Old or MGS2 Snake

Daver4371d ago

@NukaCola

The 3D dot heroe guy would be a nice idea.

Games like this exploit the hell out of DLC.

DialgaMarine4371d ago

In this case, DLC might actually be a great thing. If the core game contains a strong main roster, it'll attract a robust community that request more of their favorites to be added to the roster through DLC, thus creating a stronger community and a stronger game. The same applies to levels, features, etc.

As long as Sony and SBE don't pull a Capcom DLC stunt, this game will be great with DLC support.

*the PS2 sits up in it's seat and claps like Orson Welles*

versusALL4372d ago

If this game is anything close to super smash bros. Brawl, then it will be a success. Hell I bought my Nintindo Wii JUST for that game alone.

The game looks fantastic so far. The characters look nice, graphics and art style are very impressive. And the gameplay looks like it will take alot of my time from life.

REALgamer4371d ago

I'm sure they'll do a great job, but something just seems off about it.

I think it's the visual aspect. While Nintendo's characters all look great in smash bros since they share similar aesthetics across all the key Nintendo franchises, it looks a bit wrong having cartoony characters fighting Killzone characters on a God of War stage.

It doesn't mesh as well and feels wrong adding characters from mature games to a game that's clearly aiming for a lower rating classification and trying to be more humourous.

I guess the diversity of Sony's franchises doesn't really seem right when they're put together, and makes them seem a bit cheap and ridiculous to me...

Cant wait to kick the fat princess's ass with kratos
definatly gonna have some fun with that

mafiahajeri4371d ago

LOOL yeah that would be an interesting fight anyway the game looks GREAT! Sony just needs to try to keep these announcments quiet so its all the more satisfying when its revealed!...

Muffins12234371d ago

I would of not read your comment if it wasn't for your profile pic :)

mobhit4371d ago

Can't wait for this game. Looks incredibly fun.

BabyTownFrolics4371d ago

first move and now this, wow sony is full of nintendos ideas this gen

I thrive on your hate

MariaHelFutura4371d ago

You thrive on hate?!?

That's kinda pathetic.

Dno4371d ago

Pretty much and as always sony makes them better.

kaveti66164371d ago

You think this game is going to be better than Super Smash BrotherS?

CarlitoBrigante4371d ago

The Wii and Nintendos motion controls are a rip off of Sony's Eyetoy plans 10 years ago

axisofweevils4371d ago

And Sony's Eyetoy was a rip off of Nintendo's Power Glove (1989).

joeorc4371d ago

oh you mean this Power Glove?

The Power Glove was originally released in 1989. Though it was an officially licensed product, Nintendo was not involved in the design or release of this accessory. Rather, it was designed by Grant Goddard and Samuel Cooper Davis for Abrams Gentile Entertainment (AGE), made by Mattel in the United States.

the one made and developed and produced by another company. which Nintendo was not involved in anyway to its design or release?

yea that one...Lmao

MySwordIsHeavenly4371d ago

@joeorc

Wow. I haven't seen someone get owned that badly in over a year. Good work!

Hatmantc4371d ago

You know there's video of the MOVE prototype being demoed prior to the Wii announcement. It just took the Wii to be successful for Sony to want to production

joeorc4371d ago

"You know there's video of the MOVE prototype being demoed prior to the Wii announcement. It just took the Wii to be successful for Sony to want to production"

as i already pointed out, no matter how well the Wii was going to do, All three companies Microsoft included was going to do motion control.

Sony and Microsoft had to wait they had no other choice..due to price of components at the time. think of how much the kinect would have cost to release back in 2005?. because the units could have been released than.

the price of the xbox360 was $399.00+ the kinect released much later an was what?

that's right $149.00 its not that Microsoft did not want to release it they had to wait..cost in components was too high of a cost.

Sony the same thing. multi- colored LED's magnetic sensor to offset sensor drift. ARM 7 chip inside the Move, acc/gyroscope+ add in the cost of the Playstation Eye to boot+nav controller. now add up those components for a release back in 2006!

ontop of the base price of the PS3 which was starting @ $500.00 which many gamers was upset about and adding Move to the above cost, what do people think is going to happen?

Sony had no choice but to wait.

you have many chuckle heads claiming:

but..but they could have dropped BLU-Ray instead.

yes lets just drop the investment an R&D COST'S THAT Sony was investing into since 1997, and that Sony already released Blu-Ray to the open market in 2003.

example:

The first Blu-ray Disc prototypes were unveiled in October 2000

Sony Shows First Blu-Ray Recorder
Drive uses blue-laser technology to boost DVD storage to 27GB.
By Martyn Williams, IDG News Mar 3, 2003 9:00 am

http://www.pcworld.com/arti...

also which had support from:

The format is backed by Sony, Hitachi, LG Electronics, Matsushita Electric Industrial (Panasonic), Philips Electronics, Pioneer Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Sharp, and Thomson Multimedia.

all with movie production companies getting on board. with the above that Blu-Ray optical drives still played standard DVD's.

Where a new format for a HD movies was being chosen, and yet the PS3 was designed to be a living room entertainment system.

yea lets just drop all that cost in R&D AND ROLL OVER for another format that had only ONE manuf. at the Time Toshiba which made HD-dvd. While Sony an the main optical drive manuf. over 11 of them chose to support Blu-Ray over HD-DVD.

silly to spend that money just to say oh well?
GET REAL.

many gamer's are not using common sense

Nintendo even had to wait on motion plus for the WiiMotes because the added cost would have been increased even right now online cost's $8.00 back in 2006 what would the cost have been?

more than $8.00 that's for sure

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69511d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop511d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard511d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi511d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin511d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus518d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer517d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
