TimeSplitters dev was working on Star Wars Battlefront 3 and 4

Free Radical Design was working on Star Wars Battlefront 3 and 4 before it collapsed.

Co-founder Steve Ellis, now making iOS games at new studio Crash Lab, told Eurogamer sister site GamesIndustry International in a sweeping interview published today that the Nottingham studio had a strong relationship with Star Wars IP holder LucasArts following a deal signed in 2006.

Proof that Corporate Idiots are screwing up the games industry. Who in their right mind would cancel Battlefront 3?

If they listened to their consumers, Lucasarts would have had the second most successful online game this gen. Instead, they shove out Force Unleashed 2 & Kinect Star Wars! Bunch of Fools!

NukaCola4376d ago (Edited 4376d ago )

Agreed man. I also really want to see a Republic Commando 2 and Jedi Knight IV. Hell there hasn't been Rogue Squadron game this generation either has there? Man I tell you what, LucasArts is kind of giving us the shaft :/

StanSmith4376d ago (Edited 4376d ago )

Exactly! I mean think about it.

First Person Shooter - Republic Commando 2
Third Person Adventure- Jedi Knight IV
Third Person Shooter - Battlefront 3
Flight Combat- Rogue Squadron 4
Racing - Pod Racing 2

They have games to cover nearly all genres yet do nothing with them. They had a chance to make a fair bit of money from DLC from the above games too as they would all provide great online modes. I just can't believe they did nothing of any worth this gen. Instead we got:

Fracture
Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures
Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues
Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Republic Heroes
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
Kinect Star Wars.

Out of those 9 games, 5 were pointless, and frankly, poor games. That's 5 games worth of development funds which would have been better aimed at Battlefront 3, Republic Commando 2 etc.

Well there is more to the SWBF3 story than this interview discusses. It isn't entirely the fault of LucasArts,, there were many other factors involved.

mep694375d ago

How can they make us wait for games that should be at the top of their lists ? Lucas arts need to look at their previous sale figures.

Panthers4375d ago

Well SWTOR is extreamly successful, and that is online. Still I know what you are saying.

MrGunny944376d ago

Totally agree.. Corporates are destroying the industry

mep694375d ago

And sadly you can't kickstart a star wars game because of copyright

IaMs124375d ago

Just dont call it Star Wars ;)

SilentNegotiator4375d ago

And never will, thanks to Disney's and others' insane copyright law pushes. And mostly over stupid steamboat willy.

There's a reason we had limited time copy protection, once upon a time. But at this pace, corporations will own ideas for eternity.

More proof that Lucas Arts is now filled with incompetent buffoons. This followed by Star Wars Kinect? They want me to dance or pay a monthly sub to enjoy a new Star Wars game. - F U Lucas.

Wenis4376d ago

*Was* filled with incompetent buffoons... The staff they got after Ward left in early 2008 (Rodriguez and co) were not very good for the company. But now that there is even newer management, time will only tell if they too are incompetent buffoons or if they can return LA to their former glory..

eh…Gilbert, Purcell Schaffer were the trail blazers in that crew. David, while he did do some stuff once, like a real long ass time ago is more like b-list personality that specializes in reminiscing and signing ops at a convention.

Dope! Gotta be honest tho, i completely forgot this existed 😅

Sonic1881505d ago

Still in the early stages. We won't get a reveal until two more years probably 😂

rlow1504d ago

I wish they would make another Riddick, Butchers Bay was the best.

hotnickles504d ago

You know what games I want way more than Indiana Jones? The darkness and Riddick.

Snookies12504d ago (Edited 504d ago )

Haha, completely agree... But, the fact that he is involved in this is a definitely a positive sign! Could actually be a good game!

hotnickles503d ago

You might be right. Indiana Jones will never do Jackie or Riddick stuff though. The darkness was brutal on the eyes and ears lol.

Leeroyw504d ago

The Darkness was an underrated gem. Fantastic lore and Mike patton from Faith No More voicing the darkness is up there with the great video game voice overs imo.

Amazon’s Prime Gaming Offers Free Select LucasArts Classics

While new chapters or remakes would be great; it is nice to see the classics get some love. Amazon’s Prime Gaming is amping up the nostalgia this summer by offering Amazon Prime members a selection of free classic LucasArts games for PC.

PapaBop1023d ago

Secret of Monkey Island is a classic, I highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't played it.

Garethvk1023d ago

Those older LucasArts games were all good. Full Throttle is still amazing
