Will Shigeru Miyamoto Retire From Nintendo To Create Mobile Games?

Chris Buffa (Modojo): What are the odds Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto develops video games for smart phones and tablets?

If you think there's no way he leaves the big N to release games for different platforms, we don't think you're crazy. If anything, we're the ones who sound deranged. If we had to guess, Miyamoto will eventually retire and spend the rest of his days with his family while doing consulting work for Mario and Co., occasionally designing small games and apps for the publisher's future hardware, whatever it may be.

Lol Shigeru IS Nintendo, they're next to nothing without him to be honest. o_o Well, to be more specific, they'd be next to nothing without HIS franchises.

Akuma-4377d ago

Aren't the games he make very similar to mobile games anyway?

Ilovetheps54377d ago

Have you never played Skyward Sword, his most recent game? If you think that is anything like a mobile game, something is wrong. It is a very in depth and innovative game. His games have always been much more than any of the mobile games. He has created some of the best video game franchises ever.

@ iluvps3

I have played skyward sword and its a frustrating mess. Other than the bland environments and story, the control scheme is bad. I know a lot of wii fanboys cry out in disgust when confronted with the truth about the wiimotes motion controls being worse than tradition analog controllers. majority of the games on the wii would have been better if they used the traditional two analog stick controllers.

Titanz4377d ago

But there's a lot of other influential developers that reside at Nintendo.

Takashi Tezuka
Masahiro Sakurai
Genyo Takeda
Michael Kelbaugh

Just to name a few.

Snookies124377d ago

Oh I know there are some others Nintendo has, I'm just saying without a franchise like Mario, do you think Nintendo would be as huge as it is today?

Venoxn4g4377d ago

dont forget Yoshio Sakamoto

DrPepper4378d ago

hell no that'd be lame as hell.

LX-General-Kaos4378d ago

Master Miyamoto the Lord and Savior of great innovation.

Wherever he may go after Nintendo, he will transform that said place into a legendary powerhouse with his graceful touch. The workers of that said company will have no choice but to kneel before his stroll down the red carpet to innovate a new product.

With that said no he is not going to mobile.

That Time Miyamoto Wanted Goldeneye on N64 to End With Handshakes

In an interview years ago, the Goldeneye 007 director revealed that Miyamoto and Nintendo were not at all pleased with the in-game violence of the James Bond game, so they suggested some ways to tone it down.

well, I have a feeling we'll be coming back to those days with how everyone is offended by something...

EazyC1135d ago (Edited 1135d ago )

Outwardly...it has more to do with validation than offence.

I think back to the 90s when DOOM was offending the religious middle class... parents were genuinely offended by the violent material...idiotic mentality of course, but I genuinely believe their core sensibilities/morals felt attacked. Much like Marilyn Manson's music did.

I don't really buy that today. We're so exposed to every pit of the human experience that I don't actually believe that raving lunatics on Twitter actually feel that offended by ANYTHING they claim. It's just trendy/herd mentality.

The resulting effect is the same of course...your favourite show/host/artist is suddenly 'cancelled' because some screeching 17 year old vegans on the internet couldn't apparently tolerate that they used an old-fashioned term or some other trivial nonsense... but the disingenuousness of it all is really irritating me at the min.

I’m a little offended that you had feelings in regards to this article. I’d like to schedule a zoom call with you to discuss this matter further. We can iron it out with a virtual handshake. If this works for you, have your therapist and lawyer call mine.

Meanwhile Ganondorf throws up blood, and Link then goes to impale him in the throat as Ganon.

Jeriphro1136d ago

Meanwhile, Eternal Darkness was a GameCube exclusive that came out 5 years after Goldeneye 007, and it contained horror, blood, and psychological terror, among other things. haha. Nintendo can be really weird about how they want to filter things.

TricksterArrow1135d ago

I miss Eternal Darkness dearly. ):

iplay1up21135d ago

Eternal Darkness needs a sequel and a full fledged remake!
