i was kinda excited about this on the earlier news about the price drop but ofcourse I read the negative reviews on amazon.com. cant say I'll be getting this. I really wanted to see my ps3 in 3d for only 299

ACEMANWISE4381d ago

When the PS3 launched everyone seemed to hate it. I defended it to no end. Why? Well because it needed credit where credit was due.

I cannot, however, stand by and agree with everyone who blindly supports a product just because it has the same name.

I'm going to get disagrees over this and that's fine. I'm willing to take the hits in exchange to save you the possibility of wasting 300-600 dollars on an 3DTV with a 4 month life span. Just do me a favor and go out and buy one and see for yourself. See how you feel losing that kind of money on a product there is no support for.

Just read the forums. Don't let this happen to fellow gamers because with that kind of money you could buy another console. Just do me a favor and research this 3DTV before misleading everyone through disagrees. Thanks.

Happened to me today. After a few hours it returned to normal. Someone needs to provide phone numbers to get this issue resolved. I read in the manual that these TVs aren’t owned by Sony. Don’t know how that’s possible but that is what the manual claims.

Anyway the forums all over the net provide dead ends and NO answers. We need to find out who actually is hiding behind Sony’s brand name or get a lawsuit started. There is no way these guys can get away with selling a 300-600 TV with a 4 month life span and think they can just walk away.

For anyone who needs to know, the warning signs are clear. Occasional blackouts while gaming is an instant red flag for your TV. According to the forums it only gets worse. Very, very high failure rates with many customers reporting no help (or lies about helping) from Sony. Also there have been reports of “dead pixels” on these TVs out of the box. My suggestion is to stop buying these sets. It’s not worth the risk.

Interesting that this isn't even hinted at around here until all the articles about sales pop up.

Not saying it's not true. Just saying it's rather convenient timing.

ACEMANWISE4381d ago

No need to mention the comments I made above. However, just consider why they may have dropped the price so much. The price drop probably started this article because of it's known issues. I do understand the media bashing on Sony every turn this generation. Yet there is valid concern over these 3D displays. Mine actually failed about 3 hours ago. The good news is it turned back on...for now.

sony needs to fix this it will affect future console sales. People will start to think sony is like microsoft red ring of death

PlayStation 3D Display - Diving Into 3D Gaming On the PlayStation 3

FanBolt writes: "The PlayStation 3D Display looked to be a great fit for PlayStation gamers, whether you are looking for 3D gaming or use of the SimulView technology, which in my opinion is fantastic if you do a lot of two player gaming at home."

ZILLA4182d ago

i use mine everyday and take it with me to gaming partys with my slim and PS headphones.quick fix for heavy 3D motion sickness, every game has a saturation bar you can adjust in the games OPTIONS.for UC3 or KZ3 about 50% is best for hours of 3D gaming.

Nutsack4182d ago

Waiting for the pricedrop on it in Europe, like USA got it recently for about 150 bucks.

They're still 300 Euro overhere, although it gets 2 pair of glasses overhere compared to one in USA, plus KZ3 and GT5. Then again got both those games already.

Same pack if it drops to 200, it is a buy for sure.

DA_SHREDDER4182d ago

dont believe the hype, ive had 2 3d tvs and it's garbage. Passive and active 3d sucks. The only time it works is movies, and even then it's not that good. current set up i have now is a lg 5600. yeah its about a year old, and it works, its just that software engineers have a long way to go cause noone has even got it half right .

bryam19824182d ago (Edited 4182d ago )

Game-Modo: Playstation 3D TV Review

Back in E3 2011 when PlayStation first showed off this TV, Game-Modo was jumping for joy. Why? Because for $500, not only was it going to come with the TV, but it also brought its own HDMI cable, a pair of 3D glasses, and it was to also come with Resistance 3 (Game-Modo love the Resistance series). Once the package was released last year it did not include R3 but instead MotorStorm Apocalypse - Game-Modo are not fans of the series so we ended up passing on it. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago when Game-Modo got an email from Best Buy informing me that the TV was part of their Deal Of The Day sales for $160. Obviously that was a deal that Game-Modo couldn't pass even if it came with a game that might never get opened.

Sony PS3 3D Display now cheaper in UK

With Americans now able to purchase the once uber expensive Sony PS3 3D display for under $180, it seems UK gamers can get in on the reductions too.

I want it cheap overhere in the Netherlands. I prefer 160 USD aka 120 Euro too!!!

Overhere cheapest is around 300 Euro, although it gives 2 pair of glasses (one pair is 50 to 70 bucks if bought separate) and KZ3 and GT5.

Thing is, I already own both of those games, if I sell em might bring something like 30 to 40 Euro. Still that makes 260 Euro total. I'd buy that bundle if it rocked around 200, 220 Euro max

Vitalogy4219d ago

Exactly, that's my problem too when it comes to bundles. I don't own those games but I don't like them hence I don't want them and I don't need an extra par of glasses either. They, retailers, should be selling the tv also without all those extras for those who don't want/need them, that way they could lower the price but I guess they don't want money.

In Portugal there's only a freaking retailer selling this product, it's exclusive to it and sony is to blame for that situation because there the ones that made that deal. That retailer is selling the tv for €449,90. You kidding me? After seeing BEST BUY selling it for US$159,99 you think I'm gonna pay €450 for the same bundle?

The minute they put it at a max of €199, they will have no problems at all selling this, but at the moment it will continue to raise spider webs in the shelves and/or storage.

stuntman_mike4219d ago

i'm waiting for it to go under £200

ShadesMoolah4219d ago

I believe new customers of Very also get £30 off their first order, plus you can pay 12-months interest free.

Frankfurt4219d ago (Edited 4219d ago )

If you want something that will break in 2 months, this is you 3D display!

Go read the amazon, CNET customer reviews if you don't believe me - this thing breaks more than even the PSP and PS2 laser did, combined.

GraySnake4219d ago

Then why is my launch unit still working? Customer reviews sometimes are slanted by people just spreading false or inaccurate info.

Biggest4219d ago

There's also. . . WARRANTY! I figure that a two year warranty from Best Buy will work. Try the same in the UK?

Nutsack4219d ago

The European law on warranty forces the producer to give 2 years of full warranty on electronics like this and the shop officially 1 year, but they need to help a customer if he/she isn't able to claim the 2nd year at the producer.

So basically no need to buy a 2 year warranty in EU.
