GamesRadar:
In the late 1990s, Microsoft noticed a trend: some game developers were leaving the PC side to make games for consoles. This was a problem. A few engineers disassembled a laptop and put it back together as a console, hoping to run games based on DirectX graphics and the Windows platform. Thus, the DirectX Box was born. And then they took off "Direct" because it sounded dumb. Introducing the Xbox.
Announced in 2020, Playground Games' open-world action RPG has seen sporadic updates and departures but still no release date.
You could say the same for any number of games that were stupidly announced during pre-production. Elder Scrolls 6 & Perfect Dark are current examples, Blade is another recent one and in the past Mass Effect Andromeda and Cyberpunk 2077 come to mind.
I don't think this game is in any trouble. For a start, Playground Games are one of the few under MS Studios that actually have a track record of delivering on time and with quality. We got a trailer last year and I'd fully expect there to be something more substantial at the next showcase in the summer.
No dramas here - just another victim of Microsoft's incompetence. They simply had to announce several games way too early because they had nothing else to talk about.
The same thing that happens to any project when you announce it far too early. Perfect Dark, Fable, The Elder Scrolls 6, Star Wars KOTOR Remake...you actually have to, I don't know, make the game?
I'm fairly confident this game will see the light of day, as Playground have released 5 Forza games of quality and on schedule. Think it was just revealed too early.
With so many PS5 exclusives to choose from, it can be a little overwhelming to pick which one to play. This is especially true for a new PlayStation gamer who has yet to experience the wonder of PlayStation-exclusive storytelling. So, here's KnowTechie's take on the best PS5 exclusives in 2024 and beyond
PlayStation is killing it with the exclusives this year. Exclusive wise, what has xbox released this year?
Returnal, Astro Bot, and Ratchet made having it since day one worth it.
GT7 free updates and Spiderman 2 and others at 60fps have made this last year more than okay.
But yeah, it’s been dry lately. BG3 and third party have made great filler, but we ready for that SOCOM or Killzone announcement and some more 1st party goodness. Crossing fingers for Ghost of Tsushima 2 announcement this summer.
Didn’t know Helldivers was exclusive! Wtf is going on at Xbox that they can’t get these games, series s strikes again.
Looks like they are on par with the previous gens. Solid games all around. Interestingly enough, we can't say they released a bad game yet this gen. Unlike the Quiet Man dustup.
I actually do not mind if Marathon releases on multiple platforms . I just wish that Marathon has a dedicated single player campaign.
The new Spider-Man 2 update adds multiple long-awaited features, but the improvements to this suit are worth swinging back into it alone.
I'm probably in the minority but the Raimi Spidey movies have aged so poorly and are BRUTAL to rewatch. Just an unpleasant, cringe-fest with mostly horrible casting. Tobey and Kristen suck so much.

"Haha, introducing the DirectX Box 360!"
Yeah, that really does sound silly. Good call MS.
HALO 2 easily, the amount of hours spent due to the introduction of online play , is ridiculous and cannot be matched in play time by any other game on that system
I <3 U X
That's a serious list! They should have made it 26 games and added Jet Set Radio Future on the end there :)
Halo 2 defined the xbox...
it was a great game..
funny story...
i was playing online with my brother in law and his brother..
his brother worked graveyard as a security at a movie theater..he would hook up his xbox to the t.v in the break room and play all night..(it's a movie theater..not fort knox)
one night we're all playing and chilling..and we hear him go "oh shit, hold on guys my boss is coming"...
we're all cool..
fifteen minutes later he comes back on...my brother in law asks him..."you good?..your boss leave?"..
he says "nah, he's right here and says he's got next"
lmao..
